I agree SarahBeth. If one doesn't like the repeat posts, don't read 'em. Last time I checked, my scroll function worked just fine. That's how I get past the ones I don't want/need to read. This forum is made up of all types - just like the real world!

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
zenandnow replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just hit 199 today! 11 weeks and three days after surgery on May 16. Starting weight 239, day of surgery 231. Total of 40 lbs lost. Having less trouble knowing what & how much to eat, but struggle to get all my Protein & Water in. Learn more every day and am so glad I did this!!! -
What on earth is a pet tunnel?!?

Fiddle, I'm liking this list since I live in San Jose but my heart is in Seattle. If I ever convince my hubby to move, I'll still be on the list!!

LSereno, does that count?

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! I would have spent that money on lipo, not some stupid car!! Besides, I'm one of the LG poor, I don't have enough disposable income to drive my Tesla around with my duck lips & elfin eyes!

Nate, I just checked out your pics - you should share them! You've made amazing progress. Have you had a lot of negative feedback while losing? Was it about appearance or the surgery itself? Just curious. I chose not to share the fact that I had surgery with many people, so I haven't had to experience much negativity. At any rate, you look great and should be proud! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment & share a Vet's point of view. It helps to hear from those who have walked the path already & have a little experience under their belts. After reading all your advice, I've decided to go to the appointment & see what he has to say. Maybe I AM anticipating a worse experience than it will be (but my gut says no on that one). Even so, armed with some of this advice it should be easier to get through it and make a decision if I'll go back. Also, it doesn't hurt my confidence that the scale continues to go down and as of this morning I'll be under 200 when I go to the appointment Wed. Pretty relieved about that!

Butter, if you go NorCal you have to avoid this place. It's my Krypton. Best icing EVER.

This is interesting, I also did not expect this. I'm much earlier out that most of you, only three months, but I've had a huge increase in my energy already and do find myself in the same situation. My hubby is much more content to be at home than I am finding myself to be lately. There have been a few occasions where I've gone into the other room and jumped on the treadmill because I can't stand to just SIT while watching TV. I'm also more motivated to GO, get things done, be out & about. I've also started exercising and am finally getting to that turning point where you start to like it as opposed to just doing it. I'm happy about this, as I want to be able to keep this habit for the rest of my life, but my hubby is not motivated to exercise at all. I do worry that I'll become more and more active and will find myself in the situation you're in. Sorry I don't have any suggestions for you, but I did want to say thanks for bringing it up. It helps to know that this is a struggle for others as well. I look forward to reading how other people handle it.

I struggle with this too; "just a taste, just a little...". But that's part of what got me to this point. Not that everyone has the same story, I just know that for ME, rationalizing poor food choices is a slippery slope. That's one thing I find helpful about this forum - the vets have been there, done that and talk about the fact that real success comes with a complete change in attitude about food. I am one of those people who can't have "just a little" because that little gradually increases and becomes a staple of my diet. I HAVE to eat better. It's the only way I'll get healthy. The sleeve can help me do that, but only if I do my part too. Because a small piece WILL hurt me.

what positive move have you made for yourself this week?
zenandnow replied to Nursebarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great point - I am going to try to do this too. I tend to minimize the positive and focus on the negative ("I've only lost 39 lbs and I have 81 more to go") but its important to focus on the GOOD stuff! Thanks for the reminder! -
Like I said, it was pretty scary for me to post these pics, but I have to say I wasn't prepard for how emotional it would make me to read the positive stuff. 39 lbs is not a lot compared to what some people have lost, and it's no where NEAR my goal weight, but it's the most I've lost in 20 years and it is SCARY. Knowing I can come here and not be the only one who feels that way, and feel safe is pretty amazing! Thank you for the support!

Aside from the usual changes like starting to exercise, I'm trying to be less critical of myself. That inner voice can be pretty harsh! -
And this would by why I love this forum! Thanks to all who have replied so far, I really appreciate the different points of view and advice!
