mirrim58 replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still losing, but my weight bounces up and down as much as 3 or 4 lbs depending on time of day weighed and time of month. I'm down about 72 lbs since May. -

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
mirrim58 replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost 69 lbs so far and just came off a 2 month stall. What helped was exercise and making sure I don't graze. It's too easy to snack and take in too many calories. I went on vacation and spent about 8 hours walking one day and 3 hours the next. The next week I dropped 5 lbs. So now I try to get in at least an hour a day of walking or biking as well as doing strength exercises 3 days a week. I hope not to stall like that again. -

I was sleeved on 5/23. I did well on the liquid diet, but now that I'm adding soft foods, it is a challenge. Certain foods like eggs go down ok. But almost any type of Protein - chicken, fish is difficult. I chew very well, but do have a feeling of pressure/pain in my stomach/throat as it works its way down. I can only eat about 1/8th of a cup or 2 bites and I'm done. As a result, my calories are normally around 500 - 600/day. I am still using Protein shakes because I wouldn't get anywhere near the right amount of protein without it. You're in my prayers. It is a difficult switch from the old way of eating. Do contact your surgeon about the daily vomiting.

I also had my first post op appointment today and I'm 270 as well :-) I'm amazed at how little I can eat. I got the go ahead for soft foods and tried refried beans at lunch and tuna at dinner. In both cases I had about 4 bites and it was too much. It was painful after. I guess it will take a while to figure out my capacity. During the liquid phase I was able to eat more yogurt, but I guess solids are more 'solid'. It will definately take some trial and error.

1st day with the sleeve!
mirrim58 replied to suzbredo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad it went well. The laps will definitely help with the pain. Congratulations and hope it goes smoothly. -
Some of the thrift stores and consignment shops carry scrubs. I'm planning to do all my shopping for the next year there because I'll probably run through the sizes pretty quickly (hopefully) Once I get close to goal I'll invest more in clothes.

Question about the "After" body...
mirrim58 replied to devine.adon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only lost about 30 lbs so far, but I'm assuming it will all be saggy when I get to goal. I'm 54 and have been around 270-300 for the last 20 years. I'll at least have a 'skirt' and 'wings'. Starting to save now for an arm and belly tuck. If I can't save it up, at least there's spanx :-) I know the health is more important than the looks, but I would like the looks to be the best possible. -

Is it normal to menstrual Bleed after surgery
mirrim58 replied to diana89131's topic in The Gals' Room
When I had hernia surgery this happened to me. The nurses said that surgery's a traumatic event for your body and sometimes it throws off your menstrual cycle. -
When will it get better
mirrim58 replied to landen24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm looking forward to soft foods. Still in the liquid phase and pureed Soup. I agree the exercise is a challenge, I get dizzy when I'm standing for very long so I haven't been walking as much as I expected, probably only about 20 minutes a day. I'm supposed to go back to work next week, so I need to get my strength up for that. Luckily I'm at a desk so no lifting involved. So far no regret, but I'm fighting against impatience. I keep telling myself - this is the rest of my life. Weight loss will eventually come. I'll eventually be able to eat more enjoyable foods. I just need to work on my slimming perspective, replacing food desire with other activities and things I enjoy. I have hope for the first time in a long time. -
May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
mirrim58 replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on May 23rd and have lost 21 lbs in the last 10 days. I'm still dropping a pound or more a day and consider myself lucky. Eventually I'll be happy with 10 lbs a month. Hoping it will stay steady. I took off about 15 lbs before surgery, but gained 3 lbs in the hospital with all the hydration. I'm able to get all my liquids and Protein shakes in. Can't wait until I can have pureed food. Getting pretty tired of shakes and blended Soups. -

Has anyone noticed that their sense of smell is crazy sensitive since being sleeved? I was sleeved last Thursday and all of a sudden I can smell lots of things that no one around me can. Some bother me and some don't, but I've never been this sensitive before. I'm wondering if it's related to the surgery and to being on such a limited diet.

Cream soup... help?
mirrim58 replied to danelle235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started on full liquids while still in the hospital, but started out on protein shakes. I've also had yogurt, sugar free pudding and pureed chicken noodle soup. Perhaps the cream soup is too rich or you're sensitive to the milk. Switch it up and see if that works. -
When do we stop losing weight
mirrim58 replied to minnie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
45 lbs in 3 months is awesome. I'll be happy with 10 lbs a month myself. At the hospital I was visited by a chaplain that had had a gastric bypass years ago and said not to be discouraged if I don't lose down to my goal in a year or 18 months. She had 250 lbs to lose and just kept at it and got down to goal in 4 years. She said that if you're determined it will come off. Just keep focused on the goal. This isn't necessarily a speed diet. It will take time to learn a new lifestyle to maintain the weight loss. We have the rest of our lives. -
items for the hospital & home
mirrim58 replied to kimberly000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brought some hard soled slippers to walk after surgery. And of course my phone. Once I could shower I was thankful for some shampoo from home (favorite scent). Although the hospital does provide everything down to a toothbrush.
