Best NSV Ever... For me anyway
TJL replied to indecision's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
what a wonderful feeling for you and your daughter. Congrats! -
Like Gamergirl said cut yourself some slack. Do the things you need to like getting your protein in and water( like isereno said find some portable protein to take with you), buy gummy vitamins to take you might enjoy them, and have the guys take you out dancing or roller skating or hiking...... just saying you can have fun and get in your exercise. Enjoy your weight loss and never forget that you are doing it for you, so can continue to enjoy life.

You look really good, Congrats!

I don't know what your gurgling noise is, but I've had to have my pressure on my CPAP lowered twice, and it was interfering with my acid reflux, making it worse. Doc said will probably be off it soon, you should see if you need your pressure reduced. Just a thought.

Look'n good. Keep it up.

What's In The Bowl B-i-t-c-h or Why Whey Protein Isolate?
TJL commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
Thanks for the info, I was wondering if one was better than the other. -
Good for you! It's always great when we can fit into something that we didn't think would fit.

3 months post-op***down 80lbs***
TJL replied to taraallenrn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great job, I'm so happy for you. -
Ok, I was saving two pair of jeans because they were like new, they used to be so tight I couldn't wear them. I was looking forward to be able to put them on. I got them out yesterday to try to see if they would fit, and horrors of horrors, they are too big!!! I couldn't even get them to stay up comfortably with a belt. I'm crushed because now they have to go to the good will and I didn't even get to wear them!!! Oh well, I suppose that is a good thing. People have finally noticed that I'm losing weight, one at church and one saleslady at work. I told them thank you and yes it is hard work. I've lost 45lbs and I know I should be proud of that but somehow doesn't feel like enough. I know that I shouldn't compare myself to others but sometimes it's hard not to get weight loss envy. I was sort of complaining the other day and my son said to me that even though I'm losing weight I still look good and healthy unlike two of his co-workers that had the bypass procedure, he says they've lost a lot of weight but look like they've been sick. So i guess that losing slowly isn't so bad as long as I look healthy. I'm off all BP meds now, and have reduced my diabetes meds in half, Doc says probably will be off all soon. I am waiting to go back for another sleep study to see if I can go off my CPAP, I can't wait to get rid of it. I have 4 lbs to go before I hit one-derland, I can wait I'm so close.... but probably another 2-3 weeks. Oh well, slow and steady....

Mom, I'm so like you, I hate to spend $$ on clothes when I know that in a month or two they won't fit anymore. My sis gave me some of her old clothes that were too big for her(she lost a ton of weight and lives at the gym!), but I need jeans and pants that don't fall down. I have been going to the thrift stores, but will take your tip and try ebay. Good luck and continued success!!

Do you feel you settled for your partner because you were fat?
TJL replied to Disabledaccount's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Gamergirl you are my hero, I love your posts. I met my hubby when I was relatively thinner and much more athletic, but he has never ever made me feel bad about my weight. I asked him point blank once if it bothered him that I had gained so much weight and he said that when he looks at me he sees the girl that he loves and married not any adjustment in size.(He made me cry!!) So nope I didn't settle, I got the guy I wanted! -
Also sometimes if you eat too fast you can get pains, I know because I'm guilty of eating too fast!

Mine runs more now than it ever has, I thought my allergies were getting worse.

Hi, I will be 4 months out on 9/14, but my doc and NUT said to keep my calories around 800-900, not to go over that, always protein first, then vegg, I work out 7 days a week mostly walking with 3 days strength training. I've lost 44lbs so far, did your doc say to go up to 1200 cal when you got to 6 months? Maybe try staying a little lower in cals for a couple of weeks might budge the scale, just a thought.

Looking good, keep it up!

Chin up you will get through this. As for the birthday cake you don't need to eat it, your daughter will have the cake and that's ok. No one would push cake on you if you were a diabetic, and this is no different it's for your health. There's lots of stuff you can have on the puree stage, just keep trying different things till you find what you like and can tolerate. Check out some of the posts in the food forums there's lots of lists there. Drink as much as you can, buy some unflavored protein powder and mix it in with whatever you can eat. The really good ones don't have a flavor, you won't even know its there.Good luck to you.

What Role does the scale play in your life?
TJL commented on gamergirl's blog entry in Gamergirl's Blog
Nope, I'm hooked on my scale. I don't have a bad day if i'm not down a pound or two, but... I have to way in every morning it's part of my routine. I really miss it if I don't weight in. -
My Doc and Nut said I could have carbs but limited amounts and I have to eat my protein first, then veggies and if I have room I can have a small amount of carbs. Most of the time I choose not to, but I have had a small boiled potato, 3 frech fries, 1 tbs of pasta, 1/2 c popcorn. I haven't tried bread but I didn't really eat many carbs before as I was diabetic so it's not so different now except I am off all high blood pressure meds and my diabetic meds and I don't want them back so I keep the carbs intentionally low, oh I also spend my carbs on fruit like casaba or cantalope melons, strawberries ect. After a while if you budget for it you can probably have some carbs, just make it the good ones.

You can definitely blend up your home-made soups, just make sure that you blend them really well.

Less than a week post op and I am starving for real food.
TJL replied to Mammatoone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you really hungry or is it just head hunger? Maybe you're different but I know that there was no way that I could have eaten solid food 5 days out. I got sick of the protein shakes too, but the soups were ok, I liked the Unjury chicken soup and I also bought the Unjury cheese sauce. I actually made it a little thinner than what they said and mixed it with the chicken soup, and it was pretty good. hang in there probably just a few more days till you can do mushies right? When does you Doc want you to switch? -
You are one lucky lady! Congrats!
-
Love this post! My new NSV's are: We went to the State Fair and walked for 7 hours and I didn't complain or constanting have to sit done- I am stoked! - The 2 pair of really tight jeans that I was saving to fit into are now too big for me!
-
You look great, keep it up!

How many calories/carbs per day?
TJL replied to vsginkc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my NUT 60-80 gr protein, keep carbs low, approx 800-900 cal per day, but everyone's different. -
Ok this is one problem that I never thought I would have- I have trouble staying asleep. I used to be a champion sleeper(ha-ha), once my head hit the pillow I was out like a light. I have had my CPAP adjusted down twice, the Doc told me I might be off it soon-Yeah! I have resorted to taking tylenol PM once or twice a week because I know that getting enough sleep is good for your weight loss. The funny thing is I should feel like a zombie- but I don't. Once in a while in the am I will feel tired but for the most part I feel pretty good. I get maybe 4 hours and then I'm awake. Hoping that when I go back to see the doc they will have some answers for me. Just call me Sleepless in NY.
