    MAY sleeverss

    May 14th, I'm down 38lbs.
  2. My doc had us switch to protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, and then switch to a low carb regular dinner at night. No snacking after 7:00. It wasn't easy but I lost the weight he wanted me to before the surgery.

    Slow and Steady

Ok, so I knew that I wasn't going to be a speedy weight loser with the sleeve, I've never really lost weight rapidly except for when I had samonella food poisoning and was in the hospital for 10 days(not a way I would recommend to lose weight!). I have lost a total of 38 lbs since 5/14/13, which I think is great but my NUT says to me at my last visit that I should be losing faster at this stage. Really?? When I couldn't lose any weight before? I'm following the diet, I exercise every day for an hour(walking),I've added extra strength training twice a week, and miracles of all miracles I'm not cheating!! I know that I could eat slider foods without a problem but I'm not. If I'm happy with my progress shouldn't she be too? It really ticked me off but I didn't say much to her other than I'm doing what I'm suppose to be doing. Oh well, I'll just continue on the way I am, hopefully she will she by the next visit that this is just the way I lose-slow!

    Oh the RAGE

Hi, my sleep patterns were off at first but now seems to have settled down.I don't need as much sleep as I used to, I have more energy. I haven't really become irritable, however, I used to turn to food to fill up boredom, or anger and now I don't have that and you don't either. Maybe this is whats making you feel so out of control. I used food to medicate my feelings. It's a scary thing when one of our crutches is taken away. Maybe you might go back and see the therapist that you had to see before the sleeve? Hope that things start going better for you.

On the weight loss road again

I finally decided to have the sleeve surgery when I admitted to myself that I couldn't lose anymore weight by myself. I lost 30 lbs and kept it off but couldn't manage to lose the rest. I was always hungry! I have had a weight problem ever since I can remember. I was always heavy in school, not huge but just enough so that I was uncomfortable with it and myself. When I hit high school, I was in a lot of sports, and by always being active and then starving myself on a very low carb, low calorie diet I managed to kept my weight in check. It wasn't bad until I went to college and gained the freshman 15, which for me was the freshman 30. I once again took up sports and extreme dieting and got my weight down a little. After college I met my husband and it was all down hill from there. Everything we did involved food! We got married and I gained 50 lbs with my son's birth and never managed to take it off. My wieght kept creeping up. I was still active, did resistance training, used a treadmill every day and switched back to low carb, and took off the 30lbs but I just couldn't lose the rest. I had talked with my PCP before about weight loss surgery(it was actually her idea), but just wasn't too keen on the idea of surgery. I kept thinking that there must be something else I could do. And I did try everything! Weight watchers, jenny craig, low carb, going to a nutritionist, you name it and I tried it. I have lost 38lbs since my surgery date of 3/14/13, and I don't regret it at all. I do have to be careful thought, I never had a problem with eating anything after surgery, so I have to stick to the plan I was given, and keep up the exercise..........

From: Sweets, Snacks, Sneaks And Lies

yup, this is me. I always feel like I could eat more but not if I stick to the dense proteins. I have to track everything, and yes if I get bored I'm starting to look for food. sigh.... It's not easy but it does work if we stick to the plan.
  10. You look fabulous! After your photo shoot I'm sure the ladies will be calling. Great job!
  11. I don't mind getting noticed for weight loss, and I too have just learned to say thank-you. Accepting compliments used to be a hard thing for me, but I've gotten much better at it.
  12. Wow, you are gorgeous! Congrats on your weight loss. You must have really stuck to the plan.
  13. You look wonderful, and sooooo happy. congrats!
  14. That is great advice from Laura-ven, and something that I can apply to myself. I am only 9 weeks out yet find myself being excessively hungry. I use MFP and count everything, but maybe just need to stick to the denser proteins. Good luck tb21!
  15. breakfast: 1/2 c eggbeaters with 1 tsp bacon bits lunch: 2 oz lean deli ham with 1/4 c cottage cheese, 6 grape tomatoes & some lettuce dinner: 2.5 oz hamburger patty with 1/2 oz shredded cheddar, 1 -1oz salt potato and 4 pcs cauliflower florets snacks: 1.5 oz beef jerky, 1/2 bariwise protein bar, coffee with sugar free vanilla syrup and coconut milk
  16. Ya, I've lost 37 lbs and I'm still wearing most of my original clothes, however, my sister told me yesterday that I looked like a hobo because my clothes are so loose and hanging on me. She actually cleaned out her closet and gave me some things that didn't fit her anymore(she's lost 55lbs on her own.) I didn't think that they would fit but most of them do, and they're 2 sizes smaller than I used to buy. So don't give up hope maybe your body just needs to catch up with your weight loss. The first places that I actually could tell that I had lost weight were my hand and my feet. My rings kept sliding off and my shoes were too big.
  17. You look fabulous! Keep it up.
  18. Hi, I had hernia surgery and the sleeve done at the same time. You should start to feel a little better each day. After I was able to get the protein shakes in I really started to pick up. But don't forget it is surgery, and things need to heal up.Good luck to you.
  19. What Laura-Ven said is so true. If you want to truely succeed you will. You can't play games with your food consumption, you have to stick to the plan you get from your NUT and Doc. There are things that I can eat now that I know I'm not suppose to have so I don't eat them. I didn't have surgery and then try to defeat what I have had done. If you are serious,(and you must be or you wouldn't be having major surgery!), then you will do fine. Best of luck to you!
  20. Fabulous! These are some great things! I can't wait till I can put a list together.
