How long from initial appt to surgery?
Nuchnuch replied to TvlGrl712's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I luckily was not required to complete a six month doctor supervised diet, I began with my visit to the surgeon mid-January, and had 10% weight loss, all tests and hoops jumped by beginning of April and then surgery completed May 15th -
I like the way you think, must be the new and improved avatar..makes you seem more warm and fuzzy!

Maybe your stomach will explode...or I could be being melodramatic

Today is the start of Vacation Bible School, which I am the director....I am 18 days out and feeling great. I walked 30 minutes about an hour before we went to set up and jumped around singing and dancing for 2 1/2 hrs and feeling great....thank God!!!

Don't you just love the inequality?
Nuchnuch replied to quackstitch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If there is something I have been taught since I was little, that life isn't fair! -
I was in the same boat when I started, not many people responded when I had questions. I am glad you are on your way and have started your weight loss. It will come quicker than you think....it seemed to have flown by for me. I wish you the best of luck!

They encourage you to have moist foods early on, which I would say that a meatball is a lot more moist than a grilled hamburger....

I had the 10% of my weight to lose, I was at a 35 BMI so I had to have 2 co-morbities, which I had covered. I had to supply documentation of 5 years of morbid obesity and a letter from both your PCP and surgeon supporting you and why you are a good candidate for surgery.

Scared new insurance policy will deny
Nuchnuch replied to mskoiya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS Tn and I didn't have any problems. My surgeon's office was awesome and did an exceptional job submitting the paperwork and had a quick turn-around! I wish you luck! -
I had $1,500.00, which was not billable. My doctors visits and tests have been billable. I had to pay this once my insurance company approved me for surgery and before I was scheduled for surgery.

Arizona Family: Mother of 7 Jailed in Mexico on Bogus Charge
Nuchnuch replied to Olivia23's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When people travel outside of the United States they expect other countries to cater to us because we are Americans and don't realize the rules are TOTALLY different! -
My surgeon allows v8 juice, so I would think if you strained the pulp it would be okay, but of course you would want to check with your doc

Advertising for specific doctors
Nuchnuch replied to NtvTxn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In thinking positive, I am sure that going to Mexico in itself could be quite scary, due to being another country and so many horror stories spread through the media, I think that it would be helpful if someone is able to put someone's fears at ease by hearing a positive experience,,,that is if it truly is an "actual" experience. I was blessed to have been able to have my surgery paid by my insurance in my native country, but hopefully hearing about someone's experience, who was not so lucky I am sure could be helpful to quash the anxiety and fears of others. This is not necessarily a "goal outfit", but one of my goals is to fit in this totally adorable dress that I bought and it was tight when I bought it and the one and only time I wore it. I cannot wait until it will be able to wear and "rock it"!

I have some HealthWise protein shakes I would be willing to donate if someone pays shipping. -
Awesome job! I am not sure what type of plastics you are needing, but for extra stomach skin insurance companies have been paying for the removal. I would check into that first, one less charge....

Gallbladders to remove or not to remove is the question..
Nuchnuch replied to DaFierce1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not a doc, but you really have no need for your gallbladder and when you lose weight, you tend to have issues with it. I had already had mine, so it was a non-issue with me. -
Does Insurance cover Plastics after weight loss surgery?
Nuchnuch replied to jacee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Unsupportive Family Members
Nuchnuch replied to Amy O's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, I want to say how sorry I am that you received this reaction from someone, your mom, who you would hope wouLd be supportive especially if weight is something you have struggled with. I could not imagine if I didn't have the support of my husband and my parents, they have been awesome. It is pretty interesting to me that when it comes to wls, other people seem to believe that we make this decision to go through with it, without thinking. In most instances, since it is such a life-changing surgery it is something that is extensively researched. I wish you the best of luck!!!
