    New to Puree' foods.....

It might not have been moist enough. Unfortunately I can not start introducing veggies for 2 more weeks and then potatoes (carbs) for another month after that, but during "my" pureed phase, they want food the consistency of cottage cheese and moist. Chicken can be real dry if don't add a little sauce with it.
  3. I had my first appointment with surgeon mid-January and was sleeved May 15th and from my first weigh in to the weigh in before surgery, I had lost 26 pounds.
  4. I am going on more than 6 weeks post op...after surgery you can't eat and I think because of my determination to follow all of the doctor's rules for my safety I have been keeping my intake exactly where it needs to be and it helps to track intake with MyFitnessPal or any other program you may have. I am 100% honest about this, I did not have any issues with the pain. Nothing that the medication they provided me in the hospital didn't help. I didn't take anything once out of the hospital, other than Tylenol...once. And last but not least, I eat Sugar Free Popscicles, Sugar Free Jello, 1 Protein Shake a day, and then 3 meals which consist of 2 ounces of food. I hope things go the way you want them and you get back in and get scheduled!

    Negative Comments.....

The dreaded stalls are absolutely the worst. To be eating so little and not to be losing, is frustrating...but the good thing is you have such a wonderful family! A husband of 30 years...I have to count my anniversary in dog years to get that high, wonderful children that will be throwing you and your husband a totally awesome party to celebrate your time together and just think of the people who will be able to say WOW, you have made such wonderful changes in 30 years! Good Luck to you...you look wonderful!!!

    Been stuck...

I had been on a two week stall, was not getting all my protein and fluids in. Once I got those up, stall broke.

    Setback

I could not imagine not having the support of my family. I am sorry you are not as fortunate. This is a decision that he needs to make but you. This is not necessarily a surgery that is to exclude you from ever eating certain foods again, although seeing how good your results are, your choices are going to be a lot better! If you are like most people on this site, you have tried to diet over and over again...I hope you have the strength to stand up to the pressure and negativity to do what you want...not anyone else!

    Feeling insecure about dietitian's advice

When I wasn't getting in enough protein, it didn't seem as though I was losing as well. And I have never heard of anyone suggesting you not track your food intake, it's all about accountability and seeing where you need to adjust your intake.
  10. I have to wait two months post op...that was one thing that my surgeon explained that with the bypass you can't but sleeve you can.
  11. I had one in until the day I left the hospital. Was not painful, just as previous post, a little weird feeling. I was just happy they took it out before I left!

    Well it happened

Consider yourself fortunate that you didn't hit a stall until then! Mine was at 3 weeks and lasted 2 weeks, talk about frustrating! I increased my fluid intake along with protein and it finally budged to 3 pounds. Now I have promised myself I am not going to weigh everyday.....hopefully it will last!

    Protein intake

    60 grams
  14. Now I had absolutely no complications and felt great, but that is not always the case for everyone. If you are just going to be hanging out and relaxing you may be okay, but if you don't have an easy recover...you may regret it.

    Just found out!

Yahoo! I know you have to feel great!! Congrats and Good Wishes going out to you!!!
  16. I am thinking when they suggested you increase your fluid intakes, that may not have been what they were referring to.

Did ur spouse stay at hospital

Mine stayed with me and if he didn't they wanted someone to be there at all times so I would have someone to be there and encourage me, to make sure I was on track in what I was doing.
  18. Does anyone know or have experience with whether or not MS is covered as a condition for Medicare coverage for WLS? I have a friend who has it and is considering the surgery. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Swallowing pills post op

My doctor has said that I can take pills that should be no bigger than the size of an aspirin and then at my 3 week appointment, my nutritionist said I can start taking my Vitamin, which is a horse pill.
  20. I am exactly 1 week after you, and have been on a two week stall. I am still on the pureed stage and average between 35 to 60 carbs a day. Calories are not as much watched as is the Protein and Carbs...wanting about 60 for both. I keep track of my daily intake on MyFitnessPal.

    May sleevers results so far!

I was sleeved on May 15th, am down 20 #s since surgery. I have followed my doctor/nutritionist's guidelines to a "T", exercise at least 5 Xs a week and since I progressed onto the pureed stage, I have done nothing but go up and then back down. I tried so hard yesterday to get close to my calorie intake, I got in about 610 and my protein intake, I got within 1 gram, and I gained a half ounce. So I have stayed pretty much the same for 2 weeks solid. I know, I know, I know that stalls are common, but they are also so frustrating! I don't expect the weight to fall of instantly, but it would be nice to throw me a "bone" everyone once in awhile!
  22. One thing you need to do is customize your goals (i.e. protein, carbs, etc) according to your doctor's guidelines. Tis may make a difference with what your goals are.

    Average cost for self-pay

By reading from this forum, I have seen prices ranging from $10,000 to $20,000, stateside.
  24. I find it odd that you post on this forum and not expect anyone to give their opinion. I looked back through the statements and did not see anything harsh, just a lot of advise, which when people post on these forums, I am assuming that is what people want....but you know what assuming gets you. Good eating and good luck!
