Am I drinking too much milk?
Nuchnuch replied to megansmommy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Milk is a great source of protein and I found that if I was lacking protein in a day, that was a great low calorie way to get a boost! -
Mine says no more than 60

Measuring by weight or volume?
Nuchnuch replied to artymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are suppose to be having 3 ounces at a meal, 3 ounces is 3 ounces, regardless of the mass...right? -
Is that how much your doc wants you eating? Iam only suppose to be eating 3 ounces each meal.
-
According to my surgeon's office, until I have reached goal, I am not suppose to snack in between my 3 meals a day. Now that does not include protein shakes, they say if I am hungry between meals, I need to have a protein shake.

I think it is so funny, because, for most people, me especially prior to surgery, if your portion was not huge, you would feel cheated. How many times would you go to a Mexican restaurant and get upset if they were not right out with the chips and salsa....or O'Charley's and get impatient when they weren't shoveling out the dinner rolls by the basket full? It's pretty funny now, that I have trouble getting 3 ounces down now!

Make sure you pay real close attention! I don't think I did very well because I had to keep going back to my notebook to understand all the rules! Good Luck!!

How long were you off work?
Nuchnuch replied to Cindeez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was back to work after 2 weeks...and I had absolutely no problems. -
That is one thing, for sure, that each day gets better and better. I was blessed not to have too much gas pain and my cycle came right before my surgery. Her's wishing you less pain, each and every day!

How to get through waiting period?
Nuchnuch replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it seems like forever right now, but It will come an go quicker than you can imagine! I hate that you hit a bump in the road, just start preparing for things that you will need to do for surgery and after and then in no time you will be getting that call APPROVED! -
I can now say this....

Congratulations! I now you have to be on cloud 9!! It will be no time now and you will be on the losers bench -
That is so awesome! Congratulations!!

I did not have the six month requirement, but had to lose 10% of my weight, from my first visit to my surgery was 5 months. In that time there was a lot of appointments, tests and things that I had to do in order to prepare for the surgery. Take this time to make sure you have everything in line and prepared and it will be here before you know it!!!

bad/sad what 2 medical people said to me!
Nuchnuch replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Isn't it amazing how insensitive and rude some people can be and you would think that ESPECIALLY from someone in the medical field, they would be raising you up instead of tearing you down! You go proudgrammy! -
I used to be a diet coke fiend, prior to surgery and pretty much my entire life. I have been caffeine free for about a month now, and it is something that I have always wanted to do. So, I have just taken it to the point that I am off it and won't go back to it. I'm just curious if you would be satisfied with a decaf-ice tea?

Unfortunately there are always going to be those people who are going to judge, no matter what, and I don't know if it is simply trying to judge someone else before they get judged, or what. It is sad to say the least!!

Awesome job! Congrats!!!

Calories was not a big thing with my surgeon's office either, but was on full liquids for 4 weeks than on to puréed phase, which I was allowed 1 1/2ounces for each meal for 4 weeks...
-
I had it pre surgery and it has gotten a lot better.

60g protein + 64oz water at 3 weeks = impossible!
Nuchnuch replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you like milk, I took a suggestion from someone on here, when I am running low on protein, I drink a cup or two of milk...not in one sitting, but a cup of skim milk has 9 grams of protein and 80 calories. It helps when I am running a little low on protein. -
I don't know if everyone wants to use the word obsessed, but I am okay with it, when I was embarking on my beginning journey, I searched all over the internet to get in as much information as possible. I wanted to know everything I possibly could, because unfortunately most of the people you will come into contact with will not be as informed and can be very opinionated. Good luck to you, prepare as much as you can because it will come quicker than you will think!

The clouds parted, the Sun shone thru...& the Angels sang....
Nuchnuch replied to Takingcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amen, Sister! I pray every day I don't go back again. This is the first time I have lost weight, that I don't think that I will yo-yo back and forth! Congrats!! -
I am almost 8 weeks out and my husband was just in the hospital and of course, only eating 3 ounces at a time, the cafeteria had a salad bar, which had diced meat, cheeses, cottage cheese, so I was able to pick and choose out of that...if all else fails you might want to give that a try.
