  1. I think that it is perfectly normal to wonder if you are doing the right thing and for the right reasons. I think those folks who don't do that have not really prepared themselves emotionally for the surgery. I don't regret my surgery for a single instant. I am not that far out (5/17) so it could change, but at this point I don't think so. I am very happy with my decision. Best of luck to you!
  2. Congratulations! I hit a stall at 200.0...still waiting for it to end.

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

I was sleeved May 17th and, as of today, am down 16.2 pounds. No pre-op diet.
  4. Surgery Friday morning. Slept pretty much through both Friday and Saturday except to do some walking and sipping. Sunday I took two naps and went to bed around 9:30. Woke up today surprised at how good I was feeling. My husband took the day off in case I needed anything. I went to see my parents (sometimes a reassurance phone call just isn't enough) and went to a movie. My husband did all the driving and the walks weren't too far. I have felt from day one that I have been lucky in my recovery with no vomiting or nausea and only gas pain Friday and Saturday. I'm hopeful that the rest of my recovery is this good!

  6. I share the date - you can be my sleeve buddy!
  7. It's seemingly a "no lose" proposition for him.....if he loses a bunch of weight, he becomes healthier and a more attractive public figure. If he doesn't, he can cite the band failure rates and how hard he worked at it...for his family (of course).

    PREGNANCY DURING PRE-OP....HELP!

I think that you should probably check with the office you are working with for your 6 month pre-op. Depending on what they say, you can make a decision as to whether or not to move forward with a pregnancy.

    How will this be different?

Congratulations on getting the financing and support to move forward!

  12. Hi rockdutchess82! I don't have a link to the Facebook group, but based on an earlier post you can join the group by sending a friend request to Beth Schneikert Yeack (the group is private so searching for it won't locate it).

Bmi 35 Its possible insurance approved?

Do you know if they are going to want proof of a weight loss program? You may need to check with them (or have your surgeons office check).

Bmi 35 Its possible insurance approved?

It's possible but depends on your insurance plan. Mine required one or more co-morbidities, documentation of previous participation in a conservative weight loss plan (like Weight Watchers), documentation of participation in a surgery prep program (my surgery center), and documentation of a pre-op psych eval. Other plans require six months of either nutritional counseling or doctor supervised weight loss visits. Possible - but check your plan coverage to know what you are facing. Welcome aboard the sleever's road to a thinner you!!
  17. I'm right there with you AudOne! No surgery ever and my only hospitalizations were when I had my babies....BUT...I want it enough to do it. At first, in looking into this last year, it scared me so bad I stopped my research for about 6 weeks. Then I worked through it and decided I would rather be on the sleeve road than the current one of weight gain each year and snowballing medical problems. Am I looking forward to the surgery? Yes and No. Not looking forward to the immediate potential for pain, nausea and possible complications. Yes - looking forward to getting it DONE and getting past it to use it for a permanent change. I'll be rooting for you on the 13th (and all our May sleeve buddies)!!

    VSG Urban Legends

I'm going to Kauai in July and will be about 11 weeks post op - let me know how it goes! Enjoy!!
  19. I mixed it with Water to see how it would be for me when I was in my clear liquid phase. It's probably better with milk, but was pretty good with water. I'm looking forward to trying out the other flavors!
  20. I just got my Nectar samples today. Before this I tried Isopure and Unjury and wasn't sure i would be able to tolerate any of them....BUT, the Caribbean Cooler was a pleasant surprise! Mild, with no strong after taste. I can't wait to try out the other 11 samples!!

    Newbie here!

Hi Angie - my surgery is also May 17th! Sleeve buddies!!
  22. It's really inspiring to hear of the success other low BMI sleevers! I am 5'6", 217 lbs with a BMI of 35. My goal is to get down to 145, even if it takes more time. I'm working on getting in better shape for the surgery and beyond with beginning workouts on a recumbent bike and elliptical trainer (just started this weekend). It's going to get hot here in Vegas soon so having this equipment at the house will be my "no excuses" method to get exercise while keeping hydrated. Uh...that and going up and down the stairs in my 3-story house. My daughter even works out with me so I have a home-gym buddy. Bring on May 17th!!
