    How to cope

First off, congrats in your sleeve and your commitment to exercising! And to your husband for choosing his health too! Now it's into the details. Ask him to help you. Agree on a time daily that he will be up and watching your child so you can follow your exercise program. And then do it - even if you have to wake him up. When his turn comes you can then either let him have his time or you can all walk as a family. You have to lead at this point. You are setting the example for both of them as to how "healthy" can work for your family. Sent from my iPad using VST
  4. I take the Vitafusion Mulitvites - gummy Vitamins. I've tried numerous others. Some make me gag and others just taste horrible. I'm doing pretty well with these and like them. Sent from my iPad using VST
  5. As you loose weight, you should regularly try on your clothes and bag up everything that is too big for donation. I do this monthly. It is liberating and validates the decision you made to become healthier - a step at a time. If you try on one thing, or 20, or more...donate what no longer fits. Sent from my iPad using VST
  6. I am glad you were able to get things sorted out. It's also good that you have developed contingency plans. As others have posted, you can always have a cab take you there and home if anything falls through. My only suggestion would be more for your daughter. If she would like to be there but doesn't think she has any option except dropping the class and waiting a semester or more to take it, she could contact the instructors she has and explain that class day no 2 falls on your surgery day. She could ask if it was permissible to miss the day and get her assignments. Most instructors/professors are understanding of these types of circumstances and are willing to make allowances for their students. This way she can be with you without delaying her education. It's just a suggestion, though. You know your daughter better than anyone and I certainly wouldn't want you to mention it to her if you think it wouldn't help. I wish you the best! Approved!

I simply said I was having surgery. If anyone asked what kind I said "elective". My husband actually said "corrective" instead. Sent from my iPad using VST

Wow. - I didn't know that statins were contraindicated in post menopausal women. I am definitely asking my PCP about that as he reduced mine but didn't eliminate it. I am glad you are working on an appeal. It really is worth it for your long term health and well being. I truly wish you the best. Sent from my iPad using VST

    5 Confessions (Join In)

I confess: 1. When I am asked HOW I'm losing weight, I LIKE the nonplussed look I get when I say "I had weight loss surgery". Perverse, I know. Makes me wonder what they thought I did...*blink* 2. I was afraid to have steak until dinner at a friends house made me face it (I would have kept on avoiding it otherwise). 3. I'm a professional consumer...not a shopaholic... 4. I'm much more vain than I ever believed, if the amount of time I know spend looking in the mirror is any indication. I just can't get over how different I look! 5. I want my husband to start loosing weight too but am afraid to hurt his feelings by telling him so. Sent from my iPad using VST

Skalleywag - I've been thinking of you - just checking in on you to see how you're doing. Has your doctor offered anything in the way of a plan forward?

  15. I use MyNetDiary (I have two apps, one for my iPhone and one for my iPad as well as a yearly on-line subscription), Bodytrack.it, and Fitbit. My Fitbit integrates with MyNetDiary for exercise too. I tried Myfitness Pal and Livestrong, but find I like MyNetDiary better for myself. Sent from my iPad using VST

If it were me I would run this scenario by the surgeon's coordinator who has been handling your case with the insurance company this morning. If they are in agreement, they can arrange he for the study and maybe the medication. I was only on CPAP a month prior to my surgery as my apnea was discovered during my sleep study. The whole situation you are in seems so strange to me because you have the conditions under which they cover surgery. I just don't understand their position. Keep posting as you find out more and know you have support on this forum. Sent from my iPad using VST
