  1. Congrats! That is so great to hear! I know what you mean about just a couple bites satisfying you. If i'm craving pizza, for example, just 1 small square is enough to sate my craving, then i could care less about it. I've also found that i really start to crave things if i haven't eaten enough. So once i eat something, i no longer want the other stuff. It is so nice not to be a slave to food anymore!!

    Newbie to this site

The best way to drop some lbs fast is to do a liquid diet. It's hard and sucks, but it will get you down 5-10lbs pretty fast. Also make sure you are getting some form of exercise. I would save the liquid diet for a last resort, as after surgery you will be getting more than you fill of that! Good luck and Welcome!

    Nausea after eating

I know, it is really hard to eat slowly. Like you said it's a life time of being told to hurry up and eat, to suddenly now, it's the slower the better! The best way i've found to help me is to watch the clock, and i'll let myself take a bite every 2 min, and i try to chew really slow. it is hard though, and plenty of times i still eat to fast, and pay for it =(

    Straws

No problems, but like others, i waited till i was at 4 weeks out, and was careful. Biggest part is it's easy to drink to much to fast, so just be careful.

    Nausea after eating

Maybe you are eating to fast, or the foods you are eating are not sitting well with you. I would try eating slower, make sure you chew really really well, and maybe try different foods for a bit, see if that helps. Good luck!

    Cant eat still

Best tip: Hang in there! If the stuff makes you gag, try thinner things like chicken broth, juice, or just Water. The only way i could get anything down for a while was i used popsicle molds and just put water in them, froze it and sucked the water down that way. just take it slowly and if d=something makes you gag or puke, take a break from it for a while. Good luck!

Am I crazy? Well, yes, but about THIS?

Take a deep breath, you are doing fine! My doc told me not to worry about counting calories right now and just focus on the protein and water. And congratulations, you have hit your first stall! It sucks, but it will end. It's just your bodies way of making sure everything is ok. Just keep doing what you have been doing and the weight will begin to fall off again in anywhere from a few days to up to several weeks. But it will end!! You are doing great, keep up the good work!

    Doctor is disappointed

yeah, unless he made a mistake is reading your chart, i'd get a new doctor, and tell him to F&$*% off! You have done awesome!! I'm 4 weeks out and have only lost 24 lbs. I hope at 9 weeks i can say i've lost as much as you have!!

    Birth control AFTER surgery...

My doctor actually recommended getting an IUD. He said that they have been finding that BC pills aren't as effective after sleeve surgery. I didn't because i had Mirena and had it removed a few years ago and had some complications from it, so i don' think I'll ever get an IUD again, unless I'm 100% done with kids. I still take the pill, and i figure if i do get prego even while taking it, then i guess it was meant to be!

    Throwing up

If you are throwing up, it's either because you are eating to much, eating to fast, or you do not tolerate the food you are eating. Slow down, eat less, and avoid foods that make you sick.

    dizzy and lightheaded

sounds like your not getting enough, water and/or protein. Could also be low BP.

    How am I doing?

You are doing great! The first 2 weeks are just, hell to put it simply. Drink water, get as much sleep as you can, and walk around. It gets better, it really does and by the end of 3 weeks you will be feeling almost back to normal again. Hang in there sweets, you are doing great!!

    new pain?

yes it is common. It is usually due to to much bending over or just generally over doing it. Mine acts up if i bend to much, then it gets really painful and a bit swollen. My doc said this is normal and not to worry, just take it easy and in a day or so it will feel better.
  19. mine was about 2 hours, and nobody stayed with me over night. There wouldn't really be much use for them as all you do is sleep, and get up to walk, then sleep more. The nurses are also in a lot to check on you. Unless you really need the support, i'd let your person stay home and get some good rest. They can come see you the next day and stay as long as you want. Good luck today!

    Liquid Diet

my doc didn't require a liquid pre - op diet either, and I've done just fine. I guess it's really up to you, if you want to drop more weight before surgery. Also remember that you will be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks after surgery as well, and the liquid diets are super hard even when you have no appetite ( like after surgery). If you do decide to do it, you might want to tell your doc though. Good luck!
  21. I also struggle to get in both protein and water my nut told me it was ok to alternate days. One day focus on protein, the next focus on water, and that works for me. I still try to get in as much water or protein as i could but if i couldn't meet my goal it was ok. I started feeling so much better after that, and now I'm able to get in all i need and i don't feel dehydrated at all, and i know that my protein levels are good as well.

    Scales

yeah my scale is "broken" as well. I've been sitting at 248 for almost 2 weeks. I knew this was going to happen, and that it's normal and everything and it will end, but it's getting hard.
  23. stalled at 248... blah

    nervous about EDG!

just make sure you have a driver, my hospital wouldn't put you to sleep unless you had a driver to take you home. Thankfully i did, and i remember nothing about it. It is super simple and fast. Good luck!
