    The dreaded first stall...

You know, i hear all the time about the "dreaded first stall", and i've never been very concerned with it. I have hit my first stall and am currently in it. But it really doesn't bother me at all. I knew it was going to happen, and that it will end and i will continue to drop weight. My nut described it this way to me: Your body has gone through a huge trauma, and you are dropping weight quickly, so your body will kind of stall things every so often to make sure that everything is ok, and that it doesn't have to do something different to keep you healthy. Once it has found that all is alright and you are getting the nutrition you need, it will stop and you will lose again. Please do not think i am putting down anybody who has a difficult time with this stage, as i am not at all, just sharing my own thoughts on the process. So to anyone struggling with this, hang in there it wont last forever!!!
  2. well it for sure will help you lose the weight, but it will be up to you to keep it off. It is a major lifestyle change and difficult process to go through. That being said, I am very happy i got sleeved. I would recommend making an appointment with a surgeon who does WLS and discuss it with them. They will be able to talk to you more about if you are even a candidate for the surgery . Ultimatly though, it's your choice. Good luck!!
  3. just take it one day at a time, or one meal at a time if you have to. The biggest thing with meals i've found is to plan ahead. Write up meal plans and menus. Focus on the good things you are doing, like keeping up the walking. But do not beat yourself up about it. You made a mistake, you have recognized and acknowledged it and are taking steps to correct it. You are human, and we all make mistakes, it's ok. You can do this! You can get back on the wagon and you have the support of all here behind you.
  4. I am just over 2 weeks out from surgery and for the past 3 or 4 days i get light headed after my first meal of the day. It doesn't matter what i eat, just the first meal of the day, I eat it and a few min later i'm light headed and feeling weak and need to lay down for an hour or so. After that i'm fine, and it doesn't happen with subsequent meals.
  5. Thanks for all the input, i will definatly try out some of these things, especially upping the water intake. It could also be carb related, as i do'nt think i've really had any in my 2 weeks.
  6. yeah my nut said my water consumption was good, but i suppose i could always try to up it some more. I generally get 45oz a day just water.
  7. anything from protein shot, to broth with protein powder, scrambled eggs ( nut said it was ok), or mashed potatoes with protein powder and melted cheese...

    Post op march sleevers

It really really does get easier. I'm 2 weeks out now, and life is soo much better than it was one week ago! The protein is a hard thing, most of it tastes gross. The Unjury brand, while a bit pricey, is actually pretty good and so worth the investment. They also sell these Protein Twist gummie things they sell at Degen Berglund. They have 15 grams protein in a 1oz cup. The taste is ok but the consistency is like very very thick jello. Hang in there, i know how hard it it, but it does get so much better!

Awesome New High Protein Recipe~Phase 2!

my nut gave me a recipe similar to this but it's a package of sugarfree pudding, 1 scoop vanilla and 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, adds 1 tsp vanilla extract ( or orange, almond etc...) and mixes in 3/4 c cool whip with it. makes 6 1/4c servings.
  13. My husband had the sleeve surgery and is a member of the forums, he just doesn't really post unless he has something highly informative to add.

    Gallbladder stone

most people have gall stones, i can't forsee it being an issue unless it begins to give you pain. I was going to just have mine out with my surgery ( i was having very painful attacks), but they got to bad and i had my gallbladder removed a few months before my sleeve.
  15. Have you tried the Protein twist things? You get them at Degen Berglund. they are 1oz. cups and come in a bunch of different flavors with 15 grams protein per cup. They are like really thick jello jigglers. The taste is pretty decent as well.
  16. I had my 3 week appointment today, a week early as my doc will be gone next week. I was told to continue with the liquid diet another week, no surprise there, but that i could also add scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes with melted cheese. This was exciting news, so when i got home I made myself one egg with a pinch of cheese. I could only eat half of it. That was at 1 this afternoon, and i felt full until 7:30 this evening. Is this normal, or should i maybe hold off on the eggs for a little longer, even though i was told it was ok?? Just worried as i know we are supposed to eat about every 3-4 hours.

    Steri-strips. Heeelp!

i peeled mine off after about a week. One of them came off at the hospital! That was on one of the smallest incisions, and the doctor wasn't concerned at all.

    Post op march sleevers

I was sleeved the 6th and was fine for a while but then I started having that problem for a few days and found that i wasn't getting enough protein and/ or water. Once i upped the intake of both of those the feeling subsided and now is gone.
  19. I was sleeved March 6th and have been having a horrendous time getting in any kind of protein. I have now tried many different protein powders and all of them make me throw up. I don't really understand why. I've been eating greek yogurt and cottage cheese to get protein in but i'm still not able to get very much in as i can only eat about 3 oz of food at a time ( get maybe 15- 20 grams in a day). I have my doc appointment the 19th, so will talk to them then, but i was wondering if other people have had this issue and what they did, or learned about it. Any help would be welcome!

    Full liquids?

I was only on clear liquids while in the hospital, after that it's been full liquids. Each doctor does things a little bit differently, just do what the doc says and you'll be good.
  22. I wou'dnt worry about it. Everyone's body reacts differently to things. I had my surgery the 6th and am down 15lbs. I'm pretty happy about that, but i've read other people who are down 25 or more by now. I also agree with JP69. My best advice is to keep doing what you are supposed to, don't get on the scale for at least a week or 2. Focus on being healthy and not on dropping the lbs (hard i know).

    Same Foods.....Just Less of It?

Yes, that's the basic idea. although because of the smaller stomach size you need to make good choices to get proper nutrition. Though there may be some foods that you do not tolerate anymore, so cannot eat. So after you are healed and you want to have a few bites of someones birthday cake, provided you can tolerate it, you could do that. Just remember refined sugar will make you gain weight like nobodies business so try to avoid it as much as possible!!
  24. I weighed myself once i got home from the hospital. and i do it nearly daily. Even if it's only oz i've lost, it's still awesome to see that smaller number. helps me get through the liquids only part.
  25. My husband was sleeved back in October, and he was/is a super picky eater himself. It did make parts of the process a bit more difficult but he managed through and, as many of us have noticed, our tastes change after surgery. So try everything again, even if you never used to like it, you might now. Don't really have any advice on the artificial sweeteners though. Maybe just stick with honey? These boards have been so helpful, i hope they continue to be so for you as well in your journey!!
