I took Progresso Classic Lentil soup and and Berberi (ethiopian spice) heated up and added unjury Protein powder (need to make sure the soup doesn't exceed 140° F) and topped with a little plain yogurt. Nice and spicy. Shel - Olathe, KS

I love food, cooking it, going to restaurants...especially eating it. Love ethnic foods of all types...and that's ok. I take it as a challenge to find things that aren't merely tolerable, but are enjoyable. At first it can be a real challenge due to the restrictions in what and how much we can eat (that's kind of the point). The psychatrist that did my eval suggested a cookbook to me. It has many excellent recipes that can be enjoyed at various stages. There's also the food and nutrition forums here that has good ideas. Hang in there. It does really get better. Shel - Olathe, KS

Made this tonight for my husband and I. Yummy, husband liked it too, but suggested layering the ricotta mixture with sauce as it can be a little dry/dense. I used half the cheese and sugar free tomato puree. Shel - Olathe, KS

Looking forward to it. I'm not finding the pre-op diet nearly as bad as I anticipated though it's only been 5 days. In a strange way it's freeing to just do my protein shakes and clear liquids. No planning or cooking. Haven't felt starving or weak. Think my pre-diet diet help Mr prepare. :-) Shel - Olathe, KS -

Just saw this. I'm being sleeved by Dr. Hoehn at KC Bariatrics on 5/1. They've got an evening support group every other month. Dates are posted on their website. Shel - Olathe, KS -
I'd like to encourage you all to take full advantage of your psych visit. It's for your benefit to help you get in the right frame of mind for life after the surgery. We'be seen those posts from people who weren't prepare mentally and emotionally for the HUGE change we're making. Be completely honest with the psychologist; if you don't you're only hurting yourself. Shel - Olathe, KS

Costco's Premium Protein shakes are good. I have chocolate and vanilla. They are affordable, easy to pack along and taste good. OK warm in a pinch too. Shel - Olathe, KS -
Didn't see exercise mentioned. Definitely a must. I'm doing a minimum of 30 daily to prepare for surgery on 5/21. Shel - Olathe, KS

I had my EKG last Thursday and am just waiting for the results and the call to schedule my surgery. So many hoops to jump through. I'm anxious to get on with it. I'll have a two week pre-op diet of just 3-4 Protein shakes a day (to shrink the liver) so looking at mid May for the surgery. Hardest part is figuring how much it'll all cost (after insurance) in the end. So many separate costs...doctor visits, psych evaluation, nutritionist, cardiology, tests, facility charges, surgeon, anesthesia, etc. PIMA. It will be worth it. but really needs to be simplified.
