You may be losing inches and gaining muscle. My try to add in some exercise that use different muscle groups than you're used to. Mixing it up can help. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13

How are you doing on the following... Protein (65+ grams) Water/non-caloric liquids (64 oz +) Carbs: Some of us seem to stall or slow down if we add too many carbs (amount varies from person to person). I'd like to keep mine at 50 net carbs (carbs minus fiber) to see how I do. Calories (didn't get clear guidelines for this but I'm shooting for 800 calories) Aerobic exercise: 30 - 45 min most days of the week Vitamins: I take Bariatric fusion complete chewable 3x daily (contains everything so I don't have to take separate b12, Biotin, etc.) Sleep: went through 2 weeks insomnia and was stalled the entire time. Just some food for thought. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13

Saw this as I was scrolling by...think that pain is fairly typical for those that had similar surgeries. The PA at my doctor's office said they have to go through muscle at that port site and it's larger. I believe there's also some internal stitches there that eventually dissolve. Used to get occasional sharp pains there but it did go away after a few weeks. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13

Need Advice! Getting sleeved 7/22
ShelPrice replied to jess86's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Stay calm. Have faith that everything will go find and any hiccups along the way will be resolved as you go. A good attitude is the most important thing to take with you. For the hospital: Pre-moistened towelettes came in handy. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Took my favorite pillow for comfort. Loose comfy top and bottoms (wore there and back...don't need a lot of clothes.). Phone charger and extension cord (easier to reach your hospital bed). For the ride home: A pillow to hold against you abdomen to ease jostling. For home: Favorite hot tea (decaf/herbal)...some find it easier to drink than plain or cold Water. Good luck! I had a false positive on my EKG and cardiologist retested me and said I was fine. Course I was out the money to see the cardiologist. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13

I slept great last night after the Ambien CR. I haven't noticed and sleep walking, eating, etc. You should make sure you have 8 hours to sleep it off. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13

The homeopathic remedies just was cutting it. Got more Ambian CR...so looking forward to a good night's sleep. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13

I was able to take all mine from the first and two of them were fairly large capsules. But definitely ask your doctor. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13 -

My A1C went from 6.4 to 5.8. No meds for me. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13 -
I'm a chronic insomniac; have been since my mid 30's. I usually take Ambian CR (actually take the generic). I'm out of it and have been having a difficult time right now. I don't fall asleep until 4 am and have to get up a few hours later. Melatonin doesn't seem to do much for me. Interesting that I went into a stall at the same time. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13

Not doing the liquid diet
ShelPrice replied to Ashlee K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have faith in yourself. You CAN do this! It's temporary, you will eat again...just less of it. It's only food. Get away from it by keeping busy. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13 -
Depression can be tough to deal with alone and often has physiological origins. It's common to self medicate with alcohol (been there, done that). I suggest you speak with your primary care doctor about the depression and if needed get treatment for it (therapy and/or antidepressants). Dealing with that will hopefully put you in a better state of mind to put aside the drinking and start eating healthy again. Good luck. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13

Post op 3rd day and excruciating pain when swallow even water
ShelPrice replied to Mytwinklestar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When getting out of bed, roll over on your side and swing your legs off the bed. Then use your arms to push yourself up off the bed rather than your abdomen. It will take a few weeks to completely go away, but it will. As far as liquids hurting, I found hot (warm) herbal tea went down easier. My favorite is Honey Lemon Ginger (caffeine free). Hang in there. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13 -

I'm game if you still need people. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13 -
Patti, I was on 3 - 4 Protein shakes (low carb/low fat) plus low calorie liquids (st Jello, popsicles, broth) for two weeks. I dealt with it by keeping as busy as possible. I didn't allow myself the option of cheating so I wasn't tormented by the "will I / won't I" every day...hope that makes sense. I considered it a challenge I put to myself, not something imposed arbitrarily on me. This helped me wrap my head around it. It also helped knowing that by following the pre-op diet I was decreasing the likelihood of complications. I exercised a lot during that time determined to be as strong as possible going into surgery. It worked. I had no complications and a speedy recovery. Good luck. Shel in Kansas - Sleeved 5/21/13
