    Anyone from Connecticut?

Ok cool I wasnt sure because of the time involved if they would have to intubate or not. Drains made me a bit nervous but hey we shall cross that bridge when I get to it right? How was the preop diet? Some people say its tough although I thought the ketosis diet was terrible enough so I figure that was the hardest part.

Did they have to intubate you? Did you need drains?

    Anyone from Connecticut?

How was the surgery? I'm nervous but ready if that makes sense. Hated that ketosis diet and not looking forward to the preop one either. Did you stay in the hospital. They told me two days minimum.

    Approved - Just waiting

I will hopefully get my approval this week. I've already completed the psych evaluation, the physical assessment, and the horrible ketosis diet. All I have to do now is wait for a date. Hopefully sooner than later I want to get this show on the road. Good luck to all

  9. Was wondering if anyone else had a rough time with the 5 day ketosis diet? Im going on day 5 and im nervous because I havent been eating very much either because im chickened out or I'm pshyching myself out. Ive been told that this is the last big hurtle I have to get over.
  10. I'm not sure if its the taste or my Crohn's disease acting up from the chemicals but I get terrible stomach pains and diarrhea with any I've tried but perhaps I'll give it a shot. Thanks
  11. I like many of you have had a terrible time with my weight loss. Some diets worked awesome and then boom the weight comes back. I'd bet that we all know this side of the story so I'll spare you. I am married to the absolute best wife ever. We drive each other crazy but I know deep in my heart that she will be there forever with me and I am fortunate for that. I have always been involved in volunteer Fire/EMS for the past 17 years and always loved helping people. In fact I used to love hearing others say "how do you move so good for a big guy"? I always got a little winded but never felt that I couldn't perform the position. After the years went on I started feeling that I was slowing down more and more and it seemed much more than the "I'm getting old" routine. About 4 or 5 years ago I had gone to a weight loss seminar with a former partner of mine from the ambulance service and liked what they had to say although I always considered it "quitting". My buddy who I went with never ended up getting the surgery as far as I knew. Around 3 years ago I was on my honeymoon and felt like I couldn't quite enjoy everything that I wanted to on the honeymoon as well as in my personal and professional life. I started to contemplate and about a year after my initial thoughts of having the surgery. About 2 years later I find myself fully informed and understanding everything that I am getting myself into. As I got home today I figured it appropriate to introduce myself to everyone after completing my psychiatric consult which was my last appointment before sending info to my insurance. I have been told that my insurance only takes a few days to get back and I should have a date in the next few weeks. Hopefully I will put up a few pics and look forward to talking with some of you in the future. Thanks
  12. Thanks for the encouragement im super excited and a bit nervous at the same time

    Rookie here

I know it just stinks cause my appointment for the psych eval is friday at 330 so I get to have almost a full day extra. I try to drink water but its tough. And I have crohns disease and diet anything aggravates the heck out of my stomach.

    ketosis diet

Eggbeaters, chicken, chicken broth, deli ham and turkey. I got off the hook with the chicken broth from the dietician as long as I use extra salt which I agreed. I was having a hard time keeping chicken broth down. Todays diet was 3/4 cup eggbeaters for breakfast and lunch was 4 jumbo shrimp. I skipped dinner though which I know is bad but I just want to get through and I wasnt very hungry.
