Am I really the only one ?

No you aren't the only one that the gastric sleeve didn't work - it's been 14 months since my surgery and I have NOT lost any weight. The only thing the surgery gave me was bowel issues - bloating, excess smelly gas and the need to be close to the bathroom to evacuate my bowels this makes traveling & just getting around difficult. I am experiencing sharp chest pains from the acid reflux - it feels like I having a heart attack.

Worried sleeve will not work as well as band

My doctor told me the people who have revised surgery lap to gastric sleeve lose weight very slowly. It's been 14 months since my surgery and I haven't lost any weight. I recommend your dr take the lap band first then wait a couple months before they attempt the gastric bypass. the wait will help the stomach get back it's shape. My physician said my stomach was so misshapen after band came off that he eyeball how much to take off - he doesn't use a bugie. I believe the reason that I haven't lost weight is that dr left my pouch big - I was able to drink 14 oz Protein with no problem after surgery

Band to Sleeve Failure and "Desperate"

I had my revision surgery in Feb 11th 2013 it also went well, healed rapidly, no nausea, no pain, no issues. I also had no restrictions in fact I could drink a 14 oz Protein shake for the get go. A year I still weigh the same - I suspect my physician left the pouch too big. After the lap band was taken out, the stomach according to the dr was mis shapen and he "eye balled" how much stomach to remove - he doesn't use a bugie. At my 8 month follow up appt back in Oct he said people with revision surgery lose at a slow rate. He suspected it was my diet but I told even if I wasn't following the diet to the "t" I should have lost something. Needless to say the only thing the surgery did for me was create bowel issues. I now sprint to the bathroom when I feel a bowel movement coming. My stomach bloats and makes very loud noises and expel very smelly gas all the time. I have sharp chest pains from acid reflux - it feels like a heart attack. Never had these issues before the surgery so now I just have to live with a very bad decision on my part.

    Protein

Unjury unflavored protein powder 1 scoop is 21 grms 90 calories - it can be added food as long as food is not over 140 degree. You can mix it to 8 oz of your favorite beverage.
  5. Reply to questions regarding my revision surgery it was on Feb 11th so I'm just 3 weeks out. I'm on the soft food diet for next 2 wks then start of regular foods on the 18th. I ate 8 oz of beans today and probably could have eaten another 8 oz without any problems. Don't know what the dr will say about having a correction done however don't think the ins company will pay for another procedure..
  6. AdvancedMom - My revision surgery took 3 hrs I had a realize band placed in 2009 never worked for me. I would recommend the 2 step procedure - first have the band removed then wait until the stomach has a chance to get it's shape back so that the vertical sleeve can be done correctly. At my 10 day follow up my stomach is so mis- shapen it doesn't even look like I had gastric sleeve surgery - it's shape like an hour glass. I can drink 14 oz of liquid in one setting and have stomach pangs. The dr left too much stomach because he eyeballed the amount he took off due to the shape of the stomach. I am not happy about this whole issue I need to lose 100lbs. I go back to dr on the 23rd and will ask him to correct his mess - don't know how that will go over.
