My surgion appointment on tues =)
Iniysa replied to Jimbo_D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If this is your first visit then for me it was quick. I filled out a bunch of paper work. They wanted to know what diets I have done and dates I did them. They needed my signature everywhere, and other info. I was called to the back where they weighed me and took me to a room. I talked to the person who was going to be sending all my stuff to my insurance when I finished everything. We discussed everything I have done so far and what I still needed to do. My doc came in last and let me ask my questions. I asked things like how long would I be in the hospital, whether I would have a drainage tube and or catheter. I actually posted my questions to one of my VLOG posts. Good luck! http://youtu.be/FP4OZf_bYUo -
I would call back and ask for your doctor. If you get the backup go to the ER, better safe then sorry.

Thank you for your comment! I agree with everything you say. And will probably take your advise.

I have one good vein in my right arm and even if you use it it won't work for long, it's a temporary vein I guess. Lol. If you need to set up an IV you have to go into my hand.

Now that I have my surgery date I am really trying to plan. So here are my questions for you all. Please keep in mind that I DON'T eat meat. What are some good mushy foods that are high in Protein. (Other then eggs) Or during this phase should I just plan on my only source of protein being eggs and shakes? Solids: Same question with a slight variation. No meat, high protein, low carbs, low fat and cal. If I don't have the details planned out at first I will eat anything. Once I understand what I can and can't eat from experience, it will all become much easier. Thanks for any help and ideas you can give me!

I've been a vegetarian for a long time and a portion of that time I was vegan. I had been thinking about going back to a vegan diet just before I decided to have wls. Now I think I'm going to remain just a vegetarian until well after my surgery. Once I am comfortable with my new life style, I might look at going back being a vegan. There are a lot of vegetable based Protein out there and if your still having trouble getting enough, there are the Protein shakes. Have you tried Vega? It's vegan and has everything!

I finally got a surgery date! It's earlier then I thought it would be and now I only have a month to get ready. But that's okay, because it's still not soon enough, if that makes sense. LOL. My stomach is in knots! I guess I got my answer as to when it would feel real for me. NOW! The moment I got all my surgery date It became very, VERY real! I have my Upper Endoscopy next week, my gallbladder ultrasound the week after, my pre-op lab work and meeting with my surgeon the week after that, then it's surgery time!!! Deep breath.... I need to clean my apt and start gathering the things I will need for after. Thank you all so much for your support so far!

Ideas for what to tell people?
Iniysa replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No kidding! Lol. If I had known how big it would have gotten, I would have done things differently. Not going back now. The people I work very closely with 40 hours a week are mostly all very judgemental. -
Ideas for what to tell people?
Iniysa replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told everyone that my gallbladder needs to be removed. I figured I might run in to trouble later if my gallbladder REALLY needs to be removed, but I'll cross that bridge when/ if I get to it. My problem now, it that two other coworkers have come in saying they need their gallbladders removed too, and wanted to know why my surgery and recovery will be different. Sigh. I broadened my great lie with, they found something in one of my pre-op tests and are not just going in to remove my gallbladder. When they asked for more details I told them it was a bunch of long medical words I haven't had time to research yet, but my doc didn't look worried. I've never spun a web of lies like this before, I'm no good at it. Lol. I'm sure this will all snow ball down on me later. -

And from what I have heard, your taste buds will change after the surgery. So what you like now, you might not like after. -
Thank you all for those responses. I still need mine.

I was approved by my insurance yesterday, and I've always thought that when that approval came in, that it would all become real to me. But Here I am, day 2; and it still does not feel real. Will I be lying in a hospital bed, waiting for my surgery time; before I realize this is actually happening? Lol
