Surgery August 27th! Need good recipes for Unjury Unflavored Protein!
Iniysa replied to TN_Vols_MiMi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had all kinds of flavors for my Protein drinks before the surgery. After the surgery however I couldn't stand any of them. Even sugar free is to sweet! The moral of my story is that you probably shouldn't rely on what you like before the sugary. Your taste buds will be changing drastically soon. Sorry, I know I didn't answer your question, but I wanted to throw that out there. -
Strangely enough, I feel supper nauseous when I really need to eat something. I'm good at making sure I eat, but sometimes I get busy and forget. It took me awhile to realize that feeling sick is my bodies new way of signaling the need to eat. (Shrugs)

I would be upset too. But look at it this way. There is a reason for everything, whether you figure out that reason or not. God does not just change things for no reason. He has a plan. I was upset when I learned how long it would be before I could get the surgery. But in the end, I was happy with it. It gave me enough time to really come to terms with what I was about to do. It gave me time to truly prepare. I kept reminding myself that God has a reason, when I finally understood, I was glad. Your turn will be here before you know it. In the meantime, keep praying, stay engaged with the program and remember patients.

My story is similar. I looked in to WLS years ago but decided to try to do it on my own. In the years after: I went back to Weight Watchers, did medifast, nutrrisystem, three dr supervised diets, lived at the gym, had a PT and GAINED over forty pounds. When I decided to have the sugery this time, there was no hesitation. I had tried everything else, this was my last option. I am now below where I was when I went to my first WLS siminar years ago, and going strong. I have no regrets. That being said, this is a huge decision you can't back out of once it's done. (That was a big appeal to me. I'm good at backing out, I love that I literally can't with this.) So make sure you're ready before you do this. Good luck!

How many nights? I was in hospital for one night and brought (and used!) my computer (my hospital had internet access and I used it.) flip flops, A dress to go home in, a small pillow to hold against my stomach and Gas X. Oh and my phone of course. Yeah that's all I remember. LOL Good luck!

How common is strictures and scar tissue with gastric sleeve?
Iniysa replied to spangebabe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a stricture in my esophagus. Well, I still do, really. It's gotten better but it's still not back to where it was before. It no longer bothers me, I'm used to it. From what I am told, however; it's not common. -
I snack throughout the day as well. Can't eat much, but it keeps me from feeling hungry. Just a bite of cheese here and there, almonds etc.

For the last three weeks I've been randomly bruising on my arms. Before the surgery it took a massive blow for me to bruise. Now they are just appearing. I'm 10 weeks out tomorrow and have lost 47 pounds. Is this normal? There is also the problem of this week I haven't really been tolerating any food all that well. It does not come back up, but it's highly uncomfortable going down. No matter what I eat. I'm mainly living on shakes again. If this continues then I'll call my doc. But I'm looking for ideas or anyone else this has happened to, in the meantime. Thanks!!!

No weight loss with sleeve?!
Iniysa replied to keke's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought the same thing! That was 10 weeks ago and I've lost 48 pounds! You can do it! -
I know exactly how you feel! This last week has been annoying, my stomach went from 'going good' to 'Everything upsets me.' It's driving me up the wall. Don't even get me started on outside stimuli. LOL
-
Yep, they gave me a patch before my surgery.

I'm excited if I get 50g of protein in a day! I can't stand shakes anymore and I am a vegetarian. Irreversible damage? Not likely.
-
I remember how that felt! Before you know it, the date will be here and you will be on your way!

Sleeved 8/12, ready for this new life!
Iniysa replied to crowsnestmama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I always love to hear about people who go into the future, have their surgery and came back in time to tell us about it. ~ Welcome to the losers bench! It's a bumpy ride at first, but since your husband did it already, you probably already knew that. Anyways, congrats! -
Welcome to the site! First things first. Do you have a surgeon in mind yet? Once you know who your surgeon is, get an appointment right away. A. He will most likely tell you yes or no with the lung problems, and if yes, what he wants done before he will do the surgery. B. While that is happening you can go ahead and get all the insurance pre-requirements started and out of your way, because that might take more time to get done then to heal from your last surgery. Good luck!

It finally let me see the picture in a larger format. That does look like pus to me too. Or iodine.
-
I had glue too. There was a little bruising but really, but nothing like that. Some people are more sensitive. Especially if there are stitches involved. Make sure your incisions are not hot to the touch and that no pus comes out. That could indicate an infection. I kept my moist with plain medical lotion.
-
I'll try that. Thank you!

He really is a good doctor! You'll do great!
