has anyone else been rejected by Dr. Malley?
2bhealthyagain replied to NoLap-Band4me's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Malley did my surgery- he does ask that you follow a liquid high protein diet for two weeks prior to surgery to shrink your liver-- if you don't follow instructions you cannot expect for everything to be perfect-- I'm sure he tried as hard as he could to band you but if the liver is too large it is virtually inpossible to see the area of the stomach he needs to see to safely do the procedure. I feel bad for you but make this a lesson to follow instructions --they don't ask things of you to just make it hard on you-- it is for your safelty.. -
Hey everyone-- gotta say I am very frustrated right now-- I got a fill 3 weeks ago-- l;ost 7 lbs that week because couldn't eat- now 3 weeks later still can't eat much at all before I am PBing-- usually just slimy muscous- but am not loosing either-- if I was loosing it would not be so frustrating. Do you think I am not getting enough protein? But how do I get more protein if I have so much toruble eating? I can get protein shakes down but am getting really tired of them-- I want a hamburger so badly right now or even a salad--Thanks for letting me vent.. I had my bad placed June 21 and have lost 22 lbs. I am happy with that but really think I chould be loosing faster since I can't eat. any idesa ot help jump start things?

I got my second fill today and am having trouble keeping anything down. This is actually the first time I've really felt any restriction so I need some help-- Is this normal? Will I be better tomorrow? I don't want to have any taken out if it will get looser in a day but I also need to be albe to keep down fluids. What do you guys think.

Hey everyone, I am now offially a band memeber. Got mine yesterday about noon. Woke up hurting quite a bit but after the Diluadid 2mg I can honestly say it does not hurt much, feel more like I did too many situps. Have not been very hungry but my head tells me it wants something. So I drink more crystal light and try not to think of food. I uasually watch the food network on Saturday so tomorrow I think I will keep the tv off and listen to the radio. Going to bed for now, hope I sleep well. I think I will take some pain med so I will sleep. See ya later.

Just sitting at the computer enjoying my Double chocolate protein shake. MMGood! They really aren't too bad, I use Whey Protein, milk, chocolate baking powder, 2 packets splenda, add a tablesoon of cottage cheese and a heaping teaspoon of peanut butter -- then blend with ice. I go for my preop this morning-- have had a really bad cough for the last three days- I hate summer colds.. Prey that it does not mess up my surgery date because if I don't get it done next week I cannot fit it into my schedule until after the forst of the year. Everyone wh has already gotten banded are doing so great===I cannot wait to join the banded.

Have you had your preop workup already? If so they will probably do a pregnancy test to make sure you are not PG. If you have not had any preop tests done yet they will do a whole blood profile, EKG, and pregnancy test.

:hungry: I started preop diet today--- famished---I was a little B**chy at work too! Hope that gets better We cando this though---If Ican't do this for one day how do Ithink I can do this the rest of my life.

Suzzie I am so glad you will have someone close with you on your big day. I have alot of married friends who would offer their husbands to help also but it is just not the same as someone you are comfortable with. I start my preop diet in three days... Then only two weeks till the big day-- getting excited --
-
Suzzie --I don't think you are crazy at all- a couple of girls at work have had the band -- everyone is always talking behind their backs-- she's eating an awful lot or she sur ehasn't lost enaything-- so I am not going to tell anyone anything-- if they ask what I'm doing to lose I'm just going to say I've cut down on my portions-- not actually a lie-- just not the WHOLE truth.
-
Hey Suzzie I too am not telling anyone at work but had to tell family so I would have a ride home from the hospital-- what are your plans there.. Have you told someone who is going to help with that? You'e probably married so that is a silly question. I am single so always think everyone else is too/ Just wondering :myscared:

Hey HottyToddy you missed me on the calender. June 21st. Thanks

Sorry everyone is bailing on you. The fact is I bet they are jealous that you woon will not be a slave to food. I'm sure if they have weight problems also they wish they were in your shoes. Just think of it as your vacation from worrying about other people for a while. I know it hurts to be isolated but it's their loss.:roll:

Lisa H-- don't mean to be critical but part of the weight gain could be the chew and spit method you are using-- believe it or not alot of the sugar in food can be absorbed in your mouth and into your blood stream, sugar turns to fat when we take in more than our bodies can use. And then also with the extremely low cal preop diet we are on our body tends to grab on to all the calories it can get and not let go-- that is a way our bodies have adapted to prevent starvation when we were cavemen so all the literature I've read says.

Hello- I was just scheduled last week for a June 21 date. I am new to this forum and look forward to the support. I have decided not to tell anyone except immediate family, a best friend and my boss at work. I know it's silly but I have lost and gained back so many times I just don't want to face the rolling eyes from everyone. I also have seen and heard how others who have had the band at work have been talked about behind their backs.
