if you go to Mexico you need to check if you pcp will help you if you have a problem, some will not if you have a Mexican surgery, you will need to find a local support group, there should be one in Brooklyn or queens , or great neck ,support is very important It is best to use a local surgeon if that is workable , if not shop around I heard of a surgeon in new jersey for like $11,000, you would save airfare over Mexico, and it would be easier to see him as needed If you go to Mexico, your best seeing one of the better known surgeon , there are 3-4 you always hear about , and most of there patients are happy some people swear that the care in Mexico is better than the us good luck -
thats the plan my doctor has plus ultra sounds everyday in the hospital

VERY DRY SKIN!
MICKEYMANTLE replied to aylalinngren1026's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you may not be eating enough fat you need to eat some or you will get dry skin and other health problems -
good for you, but you made much to much usually a new sleeve can only hold 2-3 oz (1/4 cup) your better off eating less that it can hold unless your doctor tells you otherwise, I know it does not look like much but you have to get used to your new normal portion remember eat very slow and chew it till its mush remember your sleeve is trying to tell you you ate enough so lisson to it

I hate when I go to 3 doctors one after the other and the numbers are way different, on a empty stomach, wearing the same cloths I am pre op and go to the nut monthly and only count her scale ( its a big monster sized thing 5' x 5')my home scale died sometimes if the batteries are weak you will get all different numbers the best scale you can get are the old fashion doctors scales with the sliding weights http://www.ebay.com/itm/Detecto-439-Mechanical-Doctor-Scale-400-lb-x-4-oz-/120993645384?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2bc88348

HUGE fight with the Hubster
MICKEYMANTLE replied to jlobyxmas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
sorry to say but your not ready for the sleeve yet , first you need to get to a good therapist to work on your eating disorder and see your surgeon about adjusting your band , your band did not fail you , there are no health problems from your band , you need to learn to work your tool , the sleeve is just a different tool and if you can't work your band the sleeve will fail also the ds might be a better choose for you when you are ready for a revision, but till you can get your eating under some kind of control none of them will work your hubby does not think you need to lose weigh maybe he is right , you have not said what your weight is so we don't know , I have seen girls that weigh 65 lbs think they need to lose weight and yes there are some real crappy doctors out there that will do the surgery on them for the right price if your hubby is worried about you maybe he is right , if he is wrong prove him wrong -
it may depend on where in the stomach they are , if they are on a part that gets cut out it may not matter, best take to the surgeon

i do it 5-6 days a week its harder than it looks

MICKEYMANTLE replied to hopeliveshere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the first step is to find a good surgeon in your area and go to his/her free seminar,if we knew where you lived we might be able to suggest one you will probably need a referral from your regular doctor(insist if they don't want to give you one) the surgeon will probably require you to lose 10% of your extra weight before surgery, you may need to do a sleep study, blood work, stress test it usually takes 6 months from when you see the surgeon till you get the surgery , it helps to go to your doctors support group if they don't have one find a different surgeon, support is very important -
i don't have lupus I have lupus anti gen it is a clotting disorder, that is genetic if you have lupus you will test positive for lupus anti gen but if you test positive it dos not mean you have lupus, lupus antigen can also cause miscarriages if untreated to bad they did not know about this 30 years ago, when I could have been treated with baby aspirin and not had a bunch of unexplained miscarriages

All the pde-test
MICKEYMANTLE replied to britestar714's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 months is a very normal amount of time to wait for this surgery, most insurance company's want you to have 6 months of nut visits, plus all the testing is to make the surgery safer, my blood test found a clotting problem that is easy for them to handle now that they know about it but would have been very dangerous if it was not known about ,It also probably was the reason I had a bunch of miscarriages 30 years ago,It was not known about then,my surgeon requires a stress test , sleep study , blood work, requires you to loss 10-12% of extra weight before surgery , this is a long processes, It takes a lifetime to complete, do it right people that work to get the surgery , usually do better with there weight loss , than people that just pay a doctor that will take you in next week, without tests, some have no pre op diets , the best surgeons have all the testing done , so ,its safer
