Hi I'm in Chicago - oak park area. I am four months post op. I had my surgery at UIC hospital. I am a vegetarian and about to become a pescotarian next. Onto becam struggling with getting my protien in. I have lost 52 lbs- no working out. I have had two spine surgeries since the sleeve. So I am grateful that I have still been able to lose weight. Currently, I have been walking three miles for the last week! I hope I will begin to lose more weight now that I am not in bed all day. My struggle is getting the proten in. I had protein shakes. Today my goal is to eat 70 grams of protein- even if I don't like it. I am willing to walk , meet or build relationship with sleepers in the area. Congrats to those who are about to be sleeved-- it's a great thing!

I am a band to revision patient. I'm in Chicago , I had band in 2008. I lost fifty pound but had complications. Bcbs said as long as the dr felt I needed it to be removed they will approve it. I had the surgery at one time. No denial and no records needed form the other hospital . I hope it works out well for you. -

For those who had band to sleeve in one surgery..
unshackled replied to Band07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Had mine I filled first then the surgery at one time. But the only reason they unveiled it was because the wanted to see if there were any complications wo the band because I was constantly vomiting. Otherwise it wouldn't have been in that order. Surgery was March 20, 2013. I have lost about 45 lbs( this is in addition to spine surgery twice in 6 months). So I have not been able to exercise. This revision was the best thing that could have happen to me. -

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I go to the doctor to,Moros to get the staples out. I will ask for PT at a gym. I will ask my friend to go get me sample packages of isopure. I have injury and I don't like it. I am not getting the protien in so my goal this week is to get at least 60 grams in. I don't see my NUT for another 3 months. I'm in this bed the. Amorites of the day so I am just fearing I won't lose the weight unless I am exercising. So what I lefrom all of you is to be patient with myself, heal from all three of the surgeries and get in the protien. I really appreciate this. I will update y'all tommorow on my progress when I get back from doctor. Thanks soooooo much- I was totally depressed! Thanks! -
Sleeved march 19'2013 have had two spine surgeries and not losing weight
unshackled posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a march 2013 sleeved. I had neck surgery Nov.2012 and the sleeve four months later. I could not work out becuase I am still recovering from the neck surgery. Then two weeks ago I began to fall and found out that my lower spine had a cyst and I needed surgery again. Two weeks post op and now on a walker. I feel that I am not losing weight because I cannot work out. My pre- op weight was 293. I am now 243 lbs. I don't know if that is normal. I can't work out and I am a vegetarian. I can't find a protein powder that I like. I am only getting about 20 grams of protein in. Any suggestions? -

I have both but some of the other patients had medical card alone and there's was quickest than mine with insurance. My surgery was scheduled in 3 months. I am a revision surgery from lap band to sleeve. When I got the Lapland I was on medical card only and it was a smooth process three months also.

What is Being Morbidly Obese Protecting You From?
unshackled replied to Mary Jo Rapini's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Mary Jo I can so relate. I ate food because of the years of sexual abuse that I received as a child. Not making excuses because the minute I can identify the core I am now free- fre to choose - to get in the solution. I am a very pretty woman. The little girl in me says that if I am pretty and fat- I am protected and no one will take my body- so I would lose the weight - ( been exercising, no red meat since 1999, vegetarian since 2011, working out since 1999 and l.) however, once weighing 375, I began to change and lose weight. The moment I get close to 250 lbs, I would plateau and gain the weight back. Not platuea in weight loss...but that block..mentally of fear of the attention...so I would self sbatotoge. I just spoke to a doctor about these same issues. I will and are working on healing from the pain and void that I am feeling with food. I would love to join a group that will help me with this or a psych dr. That focuses on barbaric patients. Not doctors that just want approval but really will deal with the issues that brought me to that weight in the first place. Since my surgery in march 2013, I began at 290 lbs. I am now 252. I have not seen 240's as an adult. So I am so close. I can feel the block trying to trap me to stop eating healthy and I have slipped in some ways. But this article and discussion has allowed me to identify one of the major things I must work on to live healthy physically and emotionally. I can't wait to see what 249 feels like! Thanks -
Thanks for the response! I has neck surgery C5c6 fusion in Novemebr 2012. I am just returning to work. The surgeon told me I had some lower back disc issues also but we will deal with them later. Now I have lower back, hip and extreme pain in my rig leg. I cannot sleep or walk without pain meds. I am back off work again! I looked so forward to exercising and toning up after this surgery. I feel depressed somewhat because I can't work out. My hip bone hurts so much! I will attempt to working my wii game. I became a vegetarian one year and six months ago( before the surgery). I lost 60 lbs in doing that! I wanted this surgery to assist me and working out to tone me....now I am stuck..in pain...no working out...but I am grateful that I had the surgery before this issue . Hope to meet the chi town people in a support group or something.

Mine was done by Dr. Ayloo. She was wonderful! I don't know who my follow up doctor will be. The nutritionist is good . Is this your second appointment with the nutritionist?
