Thank you so much for the support, you guys are great I hope you're all right, and my head thinks you probably are; it's just my stupid body and emotions that aren't going with the flow right now. I will hang on to this post, and I really hope I can look back on it with a smile. I think I'll still be glad in any case that I have a record of this feeling for anyone who thinks this is the "easy" road!!! *group hug, but mind the incisions!*

I cannot believe what I'm doing...don't I get it?

Here's an extreme example of the efficacy of very low calorie diets: http://pmj.bmj.com/content/49/569/203.full.pdf -
I've seen SO MANY different post-op diet progressions I was hoping people would post them here so I could see what the general commonalities are. I'll go first: I'm on full liquids including Soups and sugar free puddings for 2 weeks after surgery, then soft foods (scrambled eggs, refried Beans, tuna/chicken/egg salad) for 2 weeks, then the normal dense Protein followed by veggies if tolerated starting at 4 weeks post op. One big difference that stands out to me is I am not allowed to have Protein shakes after 2 weeks post op.

march sleevers the good and the bad
OKSleever replied to thriving1726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 26th. Doing ok but seem to be having more pain at my big incision than most (still needing pain meds at 4 days post-op). Tolerated liquids well from the beginning; no problem there. Not very motivated to get my protein in but my dr doesn't have a minimum. Looking forward to soft foods in a week and a half I only "officially" weigh on Mondays, so no loss to report only that I did sneak a peek on the 2nd post op day to make sure I was back below my pre-op weight -
Gastrointestinal concerns
OKSleever replied to newoutlookonlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm, I would definitely talk to your surgeon about this. Probably fine, but better safe than sorry. -
Wow, is that only 30 pounds?? You look so much younger!!

Way to go! That's amazing!! -
I know it's frustrating, but if you really will back out in six months time, you're probably not ready for the surgery if you are ready, you'll be even more ready in six months

I got one from my surgeon. It's not for emergencies but for eating out. I'm 2 days out so haven't had to use it yet, but I'd imagine anywhere would let you eat off the kids menu with it. I'm thinking it wouldn't be that helpful at most places though.... Kids meals are usually starchy junk!!!

To splurge or not to splurge
OKSleever replied to dfdscott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had several "food funerals" and don't regret them. I actually didn't even gain weight with them; something about having my eyes on the prize kept my portions in check anyway. Good luck, whatever you decide -
Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!! Surgery went fairly smoothly; they found a liver lesion they think is benign but otherwise it went perfectly. Tolerating liquids really well, walking every chance I get, and hope to go home later today! Love WeightWise and Dr. B; would recommend them to anyone!!!!

Any March Sleevers?
OKSleever replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Made it!!! Not gonna lie, pain is no joke. They found a mass on my liver (most likely benign) and tried unsuccessfully to get a biopsy but no luck so I have a few extra incisions. Other than that, seem to be progressing normally. Hope to go home tomorrow. GL for tomorrow's sleevers! -

I think I may be the last of today's sleevers; not even leaving for the hospital until 12:30!!! Good luck to all those waiting in pre-op, and glad-you-did-fabulously to those already on the other side!!! I am seriously thirsty, lol -

Any March Sleevers?

Any other March 26th sleevers getting nervous? There's no way I'm going to sleep tonight and my surgery is the last one of the day -
Hi fellow Okies!! I'm getting sleeved with Dr. Broussard tomorrow. I'm on my one day of clear liquids before the surgery, and I have so much more sympathy for the folks who were required to be on weeks of liquids!!! It's been just 8-10 hours of clear liquids and I already just want the surgery over with so I can get to some solid food again It's good to know there are several of us that have used WeightWise, and it seems like it's been a generally positive experience!

Is this the right thing for me ?
OKSleever replied to SexyMama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you've thought a lot about it and decided that it's a good choice for you. I will say that if insurance is going to pay for it, the majority of them have a 3-6 month required period of physician-supervised weight loss before they will approve your surgery. So your goal of having the surgery in May may be a little optimistic. Good luck to you all the same! -

TOMORROW's the BIG DAY!
OKSleever replied to cely21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having surgery on Tuesday, but I guess I'm extra-anxious because I started second guessing myself on Thursday!! I'm through most of that now, but I have been having many of the same fears. I've been overweight since before puberty, so I have no idea what I look like at a healthy weight. I'm sure it will bring with it a slew of emotional issues. I'm looking into starting with a therapist who specializes in disordered eating to help me through the transition. Good luck to all of us getting sleeved this week -
I woke up with a sore throat this morning, surgery coming up on Tuesday. I figured it will have run its course by then, but just in case I called my surgeon's office to see if they had any suggestions to speed up healing to make sure I'm good to go. They took it really seriously and now I'm stuck waiting to find out if my dr is going to postpone surgery!!!!! It's driving me crazy, I feel so prepared to do this on Tuesday; I will be devastated if I have to wait ;-( Sorry just needed to vent, will keep you guys updated.

Thanks for worrying about me, but I already had the ibuprofen thought and immediately realized it would be a bad idea I was negative for strep but did have an ear infection. They started me on antibiotics for that and said I would be good to go by Tuesday. All's well that ends well I guess!! Thanks for the help all
