1. So for supersize banders, what is a good average monthly weight loss. I'm not sure I am on track yet. I was banded Aug 23, 2007 and have had 2 fills. BUT, I feel like I am still eating too much food. I am also having problems not eating in late evening. Any helpful hints? I would love to hear what and how much you all are eating for a typical meal. Also has anyone found a good snack for those times when you have to have something salty/crunch like chips or crackers?

    Other Montanans Out There

Hi All, I got banded 8/23/07 and have had 2 fills since then. But I still feel like I can eat more than I should. I am losing weight and every time I go in for a check up I am suprised at that Ive lost weight. My question is how do you know if you have the right amount of fill. At this time I can eat 1 to 1.5 cups of food and when I first start eating I feel things start to get stuck if I am not careful with slow eating and small bites. I have also found I feel hungry in the evening and seem to eat more. Does anyone else have these issues? Should the band be tighter? Is there a good reason I feel hungry in the evening? Help!

JFK, I live in Great Falls now. Glad you talked to Dr. Rohrer's office. I havent had a fill from him yet (my first will be in Oct), but he did a great job with my surgery. Since you will be here in October I will find out when the Oct support group is and let you know. It would be great if you could go. Later dreno

    Other Montanans Out There

Hi Everyone, I was just banded on 8/23 and I live in Great Falls. Joy I used to live in Wolf Point so I know how isolated it is in that area. Dr. Rohrer did my band and I have had no problems at all (knock on wood). I am still on puree and will be for another week or two although I do have something to chew once in a while or I would go nutts. I just make sure I chew really well. I read a lot of horror stories about eating the wrong stuff or too much. I will not have a fill until October but the band seems to be doing what it was supposed to do. At first I had trouble even getting all the liquids down. I'm doing better now and I am getting all the liquids and Proteins that I am supposed to but it seems once I eat that stuff I dont have room for anything else. I am hardly eating any veggies or anything else. I havent figured out how that works yet cause if I can only eat 2 ozs or 1/2 cup of food then it has to be Protein so I can get in my 80 grams a day. Man, this is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Its good though. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that Dr. Rohrer would do your fills, Joy. The bariatric Institute here in Great Falls does have a website with information and contacts. They also have a support group here but it only meets once a month. I have not gone to any of the meetings yet but I plan to. Hang in there! dreno
  5. Hi Everyone, I was banded on 8/23, and I want to tell you the eating situation improves. I experienced the same exact things you are talking about. I thought my Dr was nutts when I tried to consume all the Protein shakes and Water during the first week. There is no way I came close. I just concentrated on getting enough liquids so I didnt get dehydrated. This week has been much better and I am now able to get the required protein down. I didnt that first week. So hang in there, one week made a huge difference for me.

  7. pjanes54, I am happy to hear that I have someone getting banded on the same day! I have been very calm, but now......No Way. Its tomorrow!!! I am supposed to check into the hospital at 10:00 am my time and I dont know when I will have the exact procedure. I not good at waiting around. I'm a big baby. I dont have problems with pain, its all mental. I need to just go in and have them meet me at the car and put me under until its over! LOL I sorry to say that will not happen and I will be driving everyone nuts with minor episodes of freak-out. I wish you luck and will think of you at 11:00 am tomorrow. What time zone are you in? Good luck, deana
  8. Going in for surgury 823. Been on my pre-op diet for over a week and wondering if I can do this for the long term. I keep telling myself it will be better when I can eat regular food. Im sick of sweet protein drinks and thats all I can have right now! Can anyone tell me how long after surgery the average person needs to recover enough to go back to work? Thanks
  9. Hi crazy-ate-ers, This is my first post ever but my date is set for 8/23 and the closer it gets the more nervous I get. Sooo I thought I would join in for some much needed support. I live in Montana and have not been able to find any support groups here. I know there must be others in this area that are going through this procedure.......Where are you?? Anyone with some soothing words of wisdom for me?
