2 weeks and miserable
nursepez replied to pamiam824's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first two weeks were admittedly rough...especially the first. I, too, had lost nearly 25 pounds but felt like I couldn't keep up with the fluids/supplements/protein shake schedule. I fell behind on everything and had no energy. But things quickly improved. I returned to work on week 3...made sure I got in Protein in the morning which gave me the energy to get through my day. And I keep sipping, sipping and sipping. I'm at week 5 now...and doing great. Hang in there...it will get better. -
I just returned from my 4 week post-op appt and discussed this very thing with my surgeon. He stated that is the beauty of the sleeve...you can take NSAIDS. Which totally (and pleasantly) surprised me because I thought they weren't allowed. But as we all well know....every surgeon is different.

My Top 5 "No No" Foods @ 1 Month Post Op
nursepez replied to EweLewz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yea...bread...mmmmm. Think I'll have to wait before I try any; however, I have heard that if you toast it so that it's really dry (like a cracker) you can tolerate it. Not sure I want to waste the space on bread yet. Someday...lol. -
My Top 5 "No No" Foods @ 1 Month Post Op
nursepez replied to EweLewz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm four weeks out tomorrow and I get to start solids tomorrow. During my "soft/mushy" stage I was able to eat scrambled eggs, refried Beans, fat-free greek yogurt, really soft stewed chicken and turkey chili with kidney beans (chewed well). I pretty much kept to those few things and could tolerate them well...1/4 cup at a time. No bread, rice or Pasta. Not sure how much I'll change that up as I move to "solids" tomorrow. -
I'm glad you had a good day. My first 2 weeks were pretty rough. I'm now 4 weeks post-op and feeling great. Stay the course...:-)

feb 2013 sleevers weigh in

Sleeved on 2/22. Down 18 lbs post op. -
This is my first post...but I have been reading the great information and posts on this site for the past couple of weeks. I am 2 weeks post-op and tomorrow starts phase 2 of my diet...soft and/or pureed foods. I have been on mostly liquds for nearly 4 weeks (pre-op diet and 1st 2 weeks post-op). It was really difficult at first. My first week post-op I actually grieved for the foods I left behind and I had strong cravings...for things like cheez-its...of all things...lol. But this last week, those cravings have been left behind. I'm not focused on eating and foods...which is huge for me. I'm working on getting in my Protein, H2O and supplements. And I feel great. And I'm losing weight. So, what's my problem? Tomorrow I'm supposed to move Phase 2...and I'm nervous about introducing food back into my diet. I'm still supposed to have 2 Protein shakes per day but slowly introduce soft mushy foods. Did anyone else feel hesitant about moving to Phase 2?

Post-op Phase 2 - Hesitancy
nursepez replied to nursepez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your thoughts. I started my phase 2 this morning with 1/4 cup of soft scrambled eggs and a tablespoon of refried beans. All very yummy. Still feeling quite full many hours later...trying to get in more protein so had 1/2 protein shake. Not sure how to get all the food and liquids in. Sipping all day. -
Breaking down... Not a pound lost
nursepez replied to albertamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Water in...water out. Try to get in as much fluid as possible to help flush that hidden water out. It's a matter of shifting the water (IV fluids) from your tissues to your circulatory system. Keeping well-hydrated will do that. Keep drinking!
