    Heading to the hospital!

And so it begins..... You will do great!!!!
  3. I turned 60 in January...sleeved in February. I decided I didn't want to grow any older being obese. I needed to lose about 110-120 pounds. I'm down 60 lbs pre and post op but have a long way too go and hit my first real stall. Can't seem to get the scale to move. Also, have had some increased stressors in the last month and I've made a few poor choices...eating some bad carbs. I start my days great..but by late afternoon, I want to start grazing...an old bad habit. I need to focus...FOCUS!!! Lol

    Let it be known...

Righteous post...congrats! Keep up the good work.
  5. My 3 months post-op appt with my doc is next week. Today my scale says 196....hope his scales concurs. Want to document in my medical records that I hit onederland. My pre-op and post-op weight loss total is 60 pounds...although I seem to have hit my first stall. Like many who have posted here, I still struggle getting all my protein and water in. It's a full time job...and I already have one of those...lol.
  6. I'm at 3 months out...and can't get in more than 600-700 cals per day. Maybe if I ate slider foods all day.....
  7. I don't think a couple of pretzels is going to do any serious damage. I've done the same thing with some baked crackers. The problem is these items trigger my carb cravings...not a good thing. So, I have to stay away from them.
  8. You look great...keep up the good work!

    Need to Vent....

I'm right there with you. I didn't experience the typical 3 week stall and felt pretty lucky. But now at 3 months out, my scale hasn't moved in almost 3 weeks. I'm trying to be patient...but it is frustrating.

    I wish I would've known that before

Even with all my prep, I was unprepared for the feelings of loss for all the food that I used to call on for comfort...for fun...for socializing, etc. I felt mournful even. Even tough I knew this was precisely how I got to where I needed WLS. Crazy how I went through a million emotions right after surgery. Even though I'm still dealing with that to some extent, by 2 weeks post-op...and seeing the weight drop off...I was able to focus on all that was good...with no regrets. I'm now 12 weeks out and down almost 60 pounds.
  11. Very cool....and congrats! I've been pulling things out of the back of my closet this week...and finally wearing clothes I never thought I would wear again.

    smaller the average sleeve?

I have some of the same concerns. I can't eat more than 600-700 cals per day at almost 3 months post-op. I will be very interested in what some of the veterans on this forum have to say.

    Protein Bars

I like the Quest bars also but have never been able to eat a whole one at one sitting. One bar usually lasts 3 snacks for me. Makes them very economical.
  14. Yeaaaaaa!!!!!!!!! Congrats to you!

    eating bread!

I've been advised no rice, bread or pasta for 6 months...and I'm sticking to it. I lead with protein and usually get full off that. The few times that I've been served a sandwich (at business meetings, etc), I just remove the bread and eat the deli meat and cheese. Easy peazy. And very satisfying.

    Once upon a time...

    Love it....smiles
  17. Exact same thing happened to me. I hit 198 two weeks ago. Still there today. Patiently waiting....hang in there.

    So upset

My insurance approved the RNY...not the sleeve. It only took an additional 2 weeks to get the approval for the sleeve. Glad I waited for the surgery I wanted.
  19. My son is in the hospital this week...since Sunday. This was totally unexpected. I've been spending the better part of 12 - 14 hours a day at the hospital with him. Being nearly 3 months post-op, I can eat dense Proteins and such. I thought it might be difficult to find things to eat at the hospital especially since most of the time the main cafeterias are closed by the time I want to eat. Luckily, I've found plenty of pre-packaged sandwiches and salads. For instance tonight I purchased a turkey and jack cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes on a pretzel roll. I deconstruct the sandwich...lose the bread. Take the lettuce leaves to use as a wrap...roll up the cheese and turkey breast...yummy good dinner. It's been easier than I thought it would but would love some suggestions.

    YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!

The favorite comment from my youth in Iowa... Picture it: an impressionable boy is distrurbed by the Cuban missle crisis. President Kennedy is demanding Kruschev remove the missles from Cuba. My parents were certain that some were aimed at the John Deere tractor factory in nearby Waterloo. Ed Sullivan had shown the now famous video of what a nuclear blast looks like from the inside, the buildings flying into nothingness, 1000 mph winds. The nighmares were frequent. My school staged nuclear war drills. We were instructed to get under our little desks and cover our heads. No, we didn't have lead desks. Then came my favorite stupidism: "If you see a bright flash don't look at it!" Although Iowa was rated near the top in education quality of all the states at the time, I was instilled with the unshakeable feeling that my instructors were morons. I guess fear can bring on futile gestures, "Do something, even if it does nothing." Wow...what a coincidence...I had the same teachers in Maryland!
  21. Be careful what you wish for....this forum may well disappear...lol!
  22. Ha...that should do it...lol!
  23. Dehydration can easily cause your temp to go up. Push those fluids.
  24. I had a fever and ended up staying an extra night in the hospital. My fever was due to several things...not getting up to walk enough...not using my Inspirometer to help my lungs rid themselves of the anesthesia and because I wasn't getting in enough fluids. Im slow to metabolize anesthesia...so had trouble waking up enough to do all those things. Once I was fully awake...started walking...drinking...and inflating my lungs...my fever went away.
