Me & Ma - please offer suggestions
nursepez replied to saira's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's good that you contacted the physician immediately and she is getting the tests and care that she needs. Please don't feel guilty about your progress. Things happen and it could have easily been reversed with being the one with problems. Hang in there...wishing her a speedy recovery. -
Congrats...best feeling in the world!

Finally got weight watchers to cooperate!
nursepez replied to greensleeve's topic in Insurance & Financing
All I had to submit was proof of payment for weight watchers. BCBS accepted that as proof...not sure about UHC. -
Let start off by saying...I used to HATE yogurt...any kind at all. But the last couple of years I finally developed a taste for yummy Greek yogurt. Chobani is a little bitter but still palatable. My favorite is 0% fat Dannon Oikos...with fruit...yes, I know...but the black cherry, peach and pineapple flavors are so delicious. I sometimes add a tsp or so of granola or chopped nuts for texture. I can eat this for an entire meal as it fill me up and is very satisfying. Try it...Dannon Oikos...0% fat...yummy!

Confessions from a stressed out mom.... Okay...I'm NOT chewing and spitting. :-) But last week I read countless posts about eating M&Ms, pizza and ice cream while I was sitting in my son's hospital room. (That's the stressed out mom part...my son has been in the hospital for the last 24 days.) I'm nearly 4 months post-op and have followed my diet to the letter...until I started reading about pizza...and M&Ms. All I could think about was..."would it really be so bad if..." And then I did it...a small bag of M&Ms from the hospital gift shop. One quarter of an ice cream sandwich late one night after I got home. And yes, even a sliver of pizza. I know better but wow...the power of suggestion...and the even stronger power of my head hunger. I vow to do better this week.

Annapolis, Md Nearby Area Psych Consult
nursepez replied to BlazinAshes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm in the Annapolis area and had my psych eval locally. It was a combination questionnaire and one-on-one. Lasted about 2 to 2 1/2 hours total. Paid out of pocket to the tune of $400. I really enjoyed the one-on-one (never having had any counseling before). My psychologist actually had personal experience with weight loss surgery so she could really shed some light on how it might go once I was sleeved. -
Right...the guy who ate the M&Ms...and then lost 3 pounds the next day. Never gonna happen to me...lol!

Who is pre-op and who is post op?
nursepez replied to WeeWers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 3 1/2 months post op. My highest weight was last Novemer...256. I'm now at 191...down 65 pounds. Feeling great. No surgical complications...no pain. Never needed pain meds at home. But I will be honest...the first two weeks post op were hard for me. I got dehydrated, constipated and was generally tired. All that cleared rather quickly. I was back to work in less than 2 weeks. -

I have a 25 year old orange tabby cat. His hair is matted, he's kinda stinky, he's old as dirt...and we absolutely LOVE him. Oh...and he's also deaf. Love him, love him. -

Actress Mo'nique loses 80 pounds through diet and exercise. She looks greats...but is seemingly critical of weight loss surgery. While I applaud her success...I wish she was more supportive for individual choices. After all, it's the final results that ultimately count. http://www.today.com/entertainment/monique-lost-80-pounds-after-tipping-300-1C9965346

Got it, Stef. But she may indeed be a role model for some people given her high visibility and I personally would like her to be supportive of all aspects of weight loss. Just saying... -
