That's the ticket...let's just put it all on Monday...the good, the bad and the ugly...lol. Politics aside...the information in the article is good and certainly worth the read. Thanks for sharing...and happy Monday (what's left of it anyway...).

BC/BS of Maryland doesn't cover funny bone removal...I have to go out-of-country for that. Still have my LOL.

My point exactly. Although I'm no where near your body fat %...I'm with you. According to the standards...I'll probably never achieve a "normal" bodyweight. But I will be extremely happy if (and when) I reach my goal of 150 pounds. 'Course then...my medical records will still list me as "overweight." Woe is me...

I agree...I thought it was just a funny (or to some...not so funny) joke...not a critcism of the poster's source. Maybe we should all loosen up a little. It was good information...thanks gmanbat. Now...if I would just get to the gym....

I'm fascinated by your 30 day raw food challenge. Just wanted you to know that I've been lurking about...following your progress. Thanks for posting daily updates. You may even encourage me enough to finally try a green smoothie...someday...lol. Keep up the good work.

awww....geez....and I was just going to post that I've only lost 75 pounds in the last 5 months. Oh wait...that's 75 divided by 5 = 15 pounds per month...hmmm...that's like 1/2 a pound per day...hmmmm You're right...doing the math does help. Great post Cheri!!! I couldn't agree with you more.

Congrats...keep up the great work! -
I can't speak to Medicare...but I had my sleeve at 60...and no looking back for me. One of the best things I ever did. My surgeon says he has sleeved patients in their 70s. Keep encouraging her.

What "everyday activities" are you looking forward to post-op?

"Looking for a better partner"...AMEN to that...lol!!!! -
Those look great. I use my Fiestaware broth bowls - which look to be about the same size. Holds maybe 3-4 ounces and works great for most of my foods. And psychologically, it makes me feel like I'm not being deprived...which I'm not. 3-4 ounces totally fills me up...but looks a little lost in a bigger dish.

I have heard that we shouldn't dye our hair for 6 months after surgery - is this true?
nursepez replied to Beachbum2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I color (lighten) my own hair about every 6-8 weeks...no post-op delays...and haven't had any issues. Good luck to you. :-) -
Great rant...loved the "slice of freaking paleo pie." Fat girls unite indeed!

Ever fear losing to much weight?
nursepez replied to mrdr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny...people at work are starting to call me "skinny" and questioning whether or not I should keep losing. Let me set the record straight....I'm not skinny by any means and likely will never be ( that is my old fat self talking...lol). My current BMI puts me squarely in the obese category...obese...still. And yet I'm getting "skinny" remarks. My goal at this point is to make it to "overweight" on the BMI scale...then I'll re-evaluate. But I agree with the OP...get to a weight that makes you comfortable where you are also healthy and fit. I want to be comfortable in my own skin so to speak...and not measure my success on the BMI scale. -
Back to basics...and broke my stall !
nursepez posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've learned a lot from this forum...so when my weight loss stalled yet again, I went back to basics yesterday. I drank a Protein shake for Breakfast (30 gms protein), Greek yogurt for lunch (14 gms protein) and another Protein Shake for dinner (30 gms protein). Got in my fluids all thru the day. And guess what???? Down 2 pounds this morning. Woo hoo!!!!! -
Annapolis here...sleeved on 2.22.13. Good luck to you!

I made it to my 6 months down 95 pounds
nursepez replied to ebonisekim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look great....inspiring weightloss for 6 months..way to go! -
After reading pages and pages on a previous topic about "regretting this whole thing," the OP repeated over and over about doing this for her health....not looks. Am I the only person who did this to look good? Yes, the health benefits are WONDERFUL...no arguments there. But I went into this because I wanted to look better..which in turn makes me feel better...physically and mentally.. Maybe it's my age...60...but the closer I get to the end of my life...the more I wanted to end things looking the best I can. My biggest fear is that people would file by my casket saying..."she never did lose that weight.". Lol!

Looks vs. Health...looks 1 health 0
nursepez replied to nursepez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Besides...would we really devote so much forum space to talk about plastics and being a size 6 if we didn't care about looks. For the record...I do care about my health...more so now at age 60. But damn, I want to look good, too! -
