Three Years Later - What I've Learned
ShrinkingInSeattle replied to DougNichols's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too can see how easy it would be to gain the weight back , i am almost 5 months out. lost 62 lbs , and am struggling.. this post was a helpful reminder to not drink with my meals and the waiting 30 minutes to drink is long forgotten about.. so today , i start back at week 4 , setting the timer for 30 minutes after a meal , and coming on this board for support.. just reading this board does help , yesterday was my worst day of eating since surgery , i had kays protein cereal , which is awesome by the way... then the topping off one piece of pizza.. then a few meat balls, and for the first time since surgery , i ate a small piece of cheesecake.. i also had some italian icees. i kicked myself all day yesterday for doing this.. today , i feel much better , i am back on track , i have ate my 120 calorie cereal , and 3 small meatballs and coffee.. i feel back in control today , but still terrified of gaining it all back some day -

Not as easy as first few months , a couple questions
ShrinkingInSeattle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 months post op , I started at 258 , today I hit the down 60 mark , I'm 198 .. I am super excited about getting below 200. I haven't been under 200 in 12 years. BUT , this is getting harder. The first couple months were a breeze. Now. I crave food and have to try hard to eat the right thing. I do a good job at my choices most of the time. But to be honest. I'm scared. I feel like I'm slipping into old habits. Or if not slipping , I know it is possible to gain weight back in the future and that terrifies me. Does anyone else feel this way. I am proud of me for what I do choose to eat.. But there are days when ive failed and had some mnms or kettle corn. I know this is a lifelong process that I will always have to deal with. I just could use some help right now. -
Questions for some post opps..
ShrinkingInSeattle replied to GoRoGo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed the night. I had nausea from the time I woke up from surgery till about 3am the next morning. But they have like ten options for nausea. I never threw up. I would've never been able to care for a child. I could not even bend to feed the dog. Get help. Better to arrange help everyday for the first week. And just have it incase you need it As for pool. I did not get cleared for pool until six weeks out as infections can occur. However each doctor is different. I suggest a sprinkler. Lol. I hope this helps. By the way. When I woke up. I had nooooo idea how bad the gas pain was. Incisions did not hurt bad at all. The gas in chest felt like I was going to explode. I had not been on this board before surgery so I wasn't expecting that. I wish you well -
I copied mine from a spa protein menu. It's awesome. A splash lemon juice , One scoop vanilla protein powder. Half banana. 1/3 cup frozen blueberries. 2 tbs ground flax seed. And soy milk to your thickness preference. I use about 3/4 cup

50pounds down, 50 to go!
ShrinkingInSeattle replied to cyncitygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit my down 50 today. I had my surgery feb 21. I have alot more to go also -
I'm ten weeks out and have been on four trips. It's hard. I pack protein shakes. One for each day. And one protein bar for each day. That gives me 50 grams of protein. I keep one shake on ice each day in the room. Then I carry nuts and the protein bar in my purse. That way I only have to eat one meal more. And I usually choose a slice of pizza. And I eat the toppings of meat and cheese off it. I also ordered some protein chips for a snack

Greetings from a New Member, soon to be sleeved

Newstarter. I live in seattle and had my surgery on feb 21. I'm 7 weeks out. I did a 2 week low carb per diet. I weighed 258. Lost ten on preop. I was terrified of surgery. Seriously panicking. But it went well. The hardest part of all of this was the first 2 days. When I awoke from surgery. The incisions are not what hurt. What hurt was the horrible gas pains in chest. I could get up and walk fine. I was surprised that when I woke up. I could drink just fine. I thought. Gee. Did they even cut anything off my stomach. I stayed night in hospital. My choice. I self paid. And I was happy I chose to stay. As the ivs kept me super hydrated. And pain meds in I'v helped. The next few days. I could drink liquid and soups fine. About day 5. I felt like all the gas was over. And every day after that. It got better and better. Something I'd like to warn you about. Was when I came home from surgery. I was up 10 lbs ! Ugh I was depressed. Nurse says. Huney. We pumped 8 I'v bags in you. It dropped off fast. Mostly sweating at night. I'd wake up soaked and change night gown. So don't get bummed if u r up. I the averaged a lb a day till I was down 15 on day 15. Then it stalled. I'm down 37 now. Ten was preop. I'd love to cut anytime -
7 weeks out. I'm scared because I just started wanting food again
ShrinkingInSeattle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Up until 6 weeks out. I was never hungry and the crazy thing. Was I never thought about food. Then I had to go out of town for 6 days unexpectedly. And I knew I had to get protein. Not being home was hard. I relied on protein bars and nuts. To get my protein. We spent alot of time visiting family at hospital. And i only had access to a vending machine. Which is why i chose nuts. Now. I just got home. I keep thinking about food. Trying to eat proper protein today. I'm doing ok. But the thinking and wanting food all the time again. Scares me. I am wondering if all the choc protein bars make me crave food again or what. But I had to get protein and I didn't have a fridge at hotel. Which made it even harder. Now that I'm home. I'm not eating the bars anymore. But I'm so scared. The fact I want food all day again. I thought I'd of gained weight on trip. I actually lost 3. I was shocked because I felt fat and puffy after a week of eating like that. Has anyone been through wanting food like this ? -

How long ago did you have surgery
-
Well. It's just one day. And you have a sleeve to help you get full. Do what I do. Look at clock and say. Ok. I won't eat that now. I'll eat it in one hour. Knowing you can have it soon keeps me from eating it. I space my food out that way.
