Anyone else SUPER cranky??

OK OK. I was not cranky but I was in a dark place. I sat and held my self tight. Had the shades drawn, starred at the blank TV screen. Being a guy I was in shock. What had I done? What was I thinking? Teared up a couple times. I stayed like this for weeks. Then I started to work this little sucker and now I am down 200 lbs. woohoo! Being a guy I was still suffering from my stiches. Us guys are such whimps. You ladies really are tough Seriously, God made you capable of handling so much pain. So what if you get cranky. Matt
  3. Please understand that your questions are being directed too. We bandsters come from all slices of experience. Some folks here have almst died from obesity, some have serious diabetes issues, some just want to lose weight to look or feel better etc. So when you ask " can I break the rules once in awhile"? Smoe of us want to support you by saying "absolutely not"!!! Of course a drink a few times a year is not likely to hurt you. But we know that one can lead to two and on and on. We don't want to be enabling you to fail. If its something you want then do it. Just get back on track right after... We are just people and the band is only a tool we work. Have your drink then get back to working that band. Maybe walk extra next day or drink extra Water or? Don't beat yourself up, don't set yourself up to fail. Have that dang drink make it a small one and only one then get back to work... I hope I have not been to rough but I know that people on these boards sometimes do exactly as we tell them. So once more " do not drink"!! But if you choose to then get back on track as soon as you finish that one drink.....:) Only wish to be of service Matt P.S. I do not think that one drink will damage you....

    pain in upper right side

Tenderness can be from going off yur program. For example, eating fast and not chewing. Gulping air, wrong food choices, stuff like that. I would suggest you go back to liquids for a day maybe two and see if the tenderness disapates. Of course as always call you DR. and see what he / she suggests as well. MATT
  6. I am down 200 lbs! You don't lose that kind of tonage drinking alcohol! It is full of empty calories. If you have solid restriction the kind that causes you difficulty drinking cokes and beer the you will find that Vodka or Jack or whatever will sit and burn. A little each sip. I know people that have had serious trouble because they "tested" their bands. Its not worth it. I say don't do it. There is a guy that owns one of the Bandster boards. He Drank and not only got the burned stoma from drinking but lost his band as well. All from drinking. The question initially was is it ok to have a drink. If you are asking me I say No. All for the reasons above. P.S. Good advice is priceless doesn't matter from whom it comes. Sheesh!:whoo:

I agree, infection . If you had aspirated some food particles in your sleep this would cause infection. diarrhea? Did you drink or eat anything outside the hospital while in Mx? I once got a severe infection, chills all at once. Got a serious shot ouch did that hurt. Went home and slept for a whole day then all was good. Do you need some numbers to call? Making me concerned here. Matt

proably too tight. Unfill at least 1 cc. R U A lap BAnd or Mid Band? Mids are better cuz they are low pressure. Go to clear liquids, get checked up under fluoroscopy. Matt

    Hiccups Help!!

Yep you swallowed air. Try standing straight in an attempt to release the air. Relax you will be ok. Big drink? You mean many small slow sips right? Get back on track. Eat small bite SMALL SMALL! Chew them very well. Swallow without taking in air. Put you spoon down and let the food or drink settle. Then repeat till you are finished. Ten to fifteen minutes. Matt

    Post Op/ food sticking

The reason for liquids is so that lesions can for around your band to aid in keeping it in place. If you eat or drink to much you continue to loosen it from you body also PBing does the same only much more violently. Getbandednow does a mini fill at the time of placement this aids in restriction and for some eliminates the first and second fill entirely. But you gotta follow the program. Matt
  19.
OK you are not going to like this but here goes.

NO DRINKING! NO DRINKING! NO DRINKING!

Anything else?

Alcohol will cause irritation at your restricted site. This will cause swelling. This will cause acid reflux and Then will cause tightening. This will (can) cause erosion, migration.

Be carefull this is a slippery slope.

Sure you can have a drink maybe even several. But maybe the first one will cause you to swell up and PB. Is it worth it? Get a nice glass and put some cool tea with some big ice cubes. Looks like Scotch. Who is going to know? Its your band take care of it.

    Showers???

Just keep incisions site clean and dry.
  21. oops my bad. The point I was making is that protien is protien. Good tasting with a smooth consistency costs more than the grittier ones but they are all protien. Get in what you need first thing. Then eat or drink as your program has laid out for you. Matt
  22. Its a no brainer. 2 out of a hundred poor souls die directly from Bpass surgery itself. It saps you of vital nutrients shortening life by as much as 15 years! regardless of the supplements. we have seen many Bypass patients that have failed their bypass and now are wanting a band. I am banded. down almost 200 lbs. You gotta work your band and you gotta work the bypass as well. Yes you can get adjustments as much as you need or want they are simple and take only a few minutes using flouroscopy. Sweet spot ? Yes sometimes. Depnds on how consistent the patient is. If you like to regularly go off the program you will never hit the sweet spot nor will you reach your goal weightloss of say 90%. Matt
  23.
Also try to NOT swallow air when you eat or drink! Go slowly it takes a bit of effort to get this down but its not that tough. k?
