In the hospital with Pancreatitis.....is this normal?
LaurelVSG replied to LisaT678's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have heard of gall bladder attacks from the surgery. My surgeon put me on Antigall for 6 months to prevent post op gall bladder problems. -
I'm so happy to find this thread. I was sleeved Feb 11th. I have lost 50 lbs and I am loving all of the changes in my life. I have been really lucky so far. I threw up once because I swallowed a pill too hard, but otherwise I have had no issues. As I approach the three month mark, I am getting more concerned about hair loss. I so far haven't noticed anything worse than normal and I have pretty thick hair, but as summer gets closer & it is time to touch up my perm I worry. What have been other people's experience?

I was sleeved Feb 11th. I have lost 50 lbs exactly. I feel so good even though I still have a long way to go. So happy I made this choice! -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
LaurelVSG replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved Feb 11th. I've lost 24 lbs so far and for the most part I am getting everything in. I am eating a lot of purees. Is anyone getting sick of protein shakes. Today getting my shake down was a struggle! I start soft fruits & veggies on Sunday. I cannot wait!!!! -
Five weeks out and frustrated
LaurelVSG replied to Jason Houston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am four weeks out, and I had a hard time with solids until I pureed them I'm the food processor. Which means I wasn't chewing the pieces small enough even though I really thought I was. If everything checks out with your surgeon, try either pureed food or chewing really slow with long pauses between bites. It helped me a lot. -
I'm doing purees now and it really does help when you are craving something warm and savory. I poached turkey breast cutlets in marinara sauce and cream of potato soap. Then I ran it through the food processor and it was delicious. It tasted like real food and just looked like a creamy tomato soup.

Graduate student and pre-op diet
LaurelVSG replied to reedsinsd's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hi I am also a grad student. I am almost 5 weeks post op and in my next to last semester of school. It is really intense but soooo worth it. I think that people not going through the struggles of both at the same time don't get how hard it is!! -
Yaaaaaaaaay, eggs, beans, potatos OH MY!
LaurelVSG replied to newme31's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Try a chewable gas x tablet. It helped me with a few foods that gave me those symptoms when I started solids. Try eating slower and pausing longer between bites. The first time it happened to me, I was convinced I was never going to be able to eat solids normally again. It will get easier. -
My surgeon said 2 weeks as long as you take it easy.

HAVING MY SURGERY ON MARCH 19TH. I JUST HAD A QUESTION ...WHY DO PEOPLE GET DEHYDRATED AFTER SURGERY CAN THEY NOT DRINK FLUIDS? AREN'T THEY THIRSTY?
LaurelVSG replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 3 weeks post-op and experienced dehydration for the first time in my life. With my new smaller stomach drinking more than 2 or 3 ounces of water at time makes me so full that I can't drink anymore. Drinking water was never an effort before but now I have to really make an effort. It is possible, just need to be conscious of it.
