I'm a rip roaring "B"!! My head hurts, I'm hungry, the shakes suck! I'm crabby!! I'm finally eating soup but I soooo want to wash it down with a diet Pepsi. This is going to be rough!!

My 9 year old son is scared I'm going to die! I talked to him about the safety of the surgery and the benefits of a new FIT mommy but he said he loves me just the way I am. ???? I'm a lower BMI & have a lot of family history of obesity related co morbidities. I can and do still do bike riding & active things with him. However, my mom can hardly walk at 65 & I don't want to end up there! Any suggestions for what to say to reassure him??

All these are great!! I just want to be able to wipe my own ass without being a contortionist!

Surgery is 4/23 & I've been weaning myself off coffee. This is my first hurdle to jump & I'm already finding it so difficult. I'm so TIRED!! I don't want to complain to anyone (as this is an elective procedure and I have made a decision to go through with it!). So here I am complaining to you all!! I will make it. On the brighter side, I had my final appointment with my surgeon & my pre op liquid diet includes some broth, fruits and veggies as well as the protein shakes! That will definitely make life a little easier. I also made my final payment to him and found out that because I am a nurse in the system where I will have the surgery, they are waiving my hospital co-pay!!

Surgery date is two weeks from yesterday! I start my pre-op protein/liquid diet on Saturday. I'm drinking my second to last couple coffee, I have exactly 2 diet Pepsi's for each day until Saturday. I feel like I'm trying to get in last meals Before I plunge into the Vertical sleeve world!! I had my upper GI, EKG, and bloodworm done yesterday! I'm really grateful for this group! It's very encouraging! And it's nice to know that most of you will or have been trough this!!

I've been wanting coffee so bad! I've been weaning myself off from 2 cups a day to one cup of day to 1 cup every other day. Friday will be my last cup of coffee!! I am going to miss it so much but I know it will be worth it in the end. I'm pretty sure I can have some fruits and vegetables as well. I find out the full diet information this Thursday.

I got the much anticipated call today and was given a surgery date of 4/23!! That's only 3 weeks away!! Now I have to wait for my boss to approve the time off! She found out about the surgery when my primary doctor's office sent over my letter of medical necessity to my work office!! I was mortified. She was like, "you don't look like you weigh that much". Thanks, I guess! She asked if she should just pretend that she didn't see it? She was supportive and I hope I can get the time off as I have plenty of hours banked up. still have more hoops to jump through before that day and I wonder how much $$$ I am going to have to come up with? I'm very excited!

4/23/13!!! Now just waiting for boss to approve time off!!

Hello fellow nurses!! ???? I am a Home Health care nurse & I am still in the process of insurance verification. I'm told with my insurance I shouldn't have a problem being approved. I'm very anxious about asking for time off of work Because I'm not sure when they'll be able to do the procedure. It's a waiting game I guess. Anyone have any information on how long it is before you can drive after the procedure? It seems like most people take about two weeks off of work. Thanks!! I'm so glad this site is here!!

I have done my info meeting, preop visit with Dr Heydari, psych eval, dietary visit, RN visit & am scheduled for preop classes at the beginning of April. I'm nervous & excited all at once!! They have a great support group through Centegra hospital but looking for support on this site too!
