  1. Soooooo.... Okay so no one ever said to me I was fat before, but I knew it and so did everyone else. But now I've been faced with people that are like "OMG! You're too skinny! You need to stop losing weight". Now I realize I've lost a little too much, and the dr has assured me this is normal. But I'm just wondering where people get off? Why do they think it's appropriate to tell me I'm too skinny, yet thought it was inappropriate to tell me I was fat?! Especially those people who aren't in my close circle of friends! My close friends are so encouraging. And I am so thankful for them, but I'm seriously sick of the others who think they have the right to offer their opinions, when they don't! Grrrrrrr!!! Okay just had to vent.

Tired of hearing I'm too skinny!

My original point was.... No one thinks it's appropriate to tell someone they're too fat, so why do they think it's okay to tell someone they're too skinny. Unless you're my husband, mom or best friend, keep your opinions to yourself!! Feeling better now
  3. Had a breast lift w/out implant 5 days ago. I love the fullness of the tops of my breast, but when I took off the bandages the bottom/underside of my breast look somewhat deformed. One side looks like a cone with a flat bottom and the other side is somewhat flattened as well. Is this from the compression bra and bandages?? Will they end up looking normal?? Is it normal to have some deformed looking shapes at first?? PLEASE if you can help answer this do so as soon as possible. I'm freaking out a little.
  4. Thanks jules75!!! Any feed back I can get helps. I just didn't think to ask ahead of time if they would come out perfectly shaped immediately. My brain tells me that they'll smooth out and eventually look normal, but then there is the side that is freaking out. So your encouraging words help a lot!!
  5. Thanks sweet pea. I go Friday to have my sutures removed and I'll definitely say something then. I'm just really nervous about how they look at the moment. Not that worrying will do me any good. Lol

    Lost More Than The Weight

JMCP, I am almost a year out from surgery and have lost 76 lbs. I'm currently in a size 0 (OMG!!! Didn't think I would EVER see that size, lol!!). Most of my adult life I've been around a size 18. I have enjoyed buying new clothes, I'm no longer trying to hide behind my clothes, but I've also held into some of my bigger things. In the beginning I shopped at the less expensive type places. Now that I'm at the size I'm going to be, I shop some of the higher end stores. It's been a long, hard, exciting and mostly unbelievable journey for me. I went in having the expectation/goal of losing 50-55lbs. So when I dropped over 70lbs so quickly, I was somewhat amazed. It's been weird trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I am no longer the "fat girl" (hope that doesn't offend anyone, but that's what my bigger friends and I called ourselves). I have had the pleasure just recently of defending the "fat girls"!! One of my friends that has always been skinny, never over 120, was making fun of her mother-n-law (who is scheduled for surgery next week) saying she didn't need the surgery. She just needed to cut out certain foods. It was heated convo, but one I was glad I was able to have. Anyone who has never been obese, has no idea what it's like to lose, gain, lose and then gain more. So it's nice to be on this side now able to see both sides and defend those who are still struggling!! Hope you have a VERY successful journey!! Good luck and keep us posted on how you do!!!
  7. Had my sleeve April 3rd this past year. I'm well within my ideal weight, however I'm disgusted by the excess skin on my legs (mainly back oft thighs) and my breast went from a very full DD to a not so full C. I am considering the thought lift and breast lift/implants. I would like to know about how much this usually costs and the recovery time. If you've had it done, would you do it again?? Are the scars terrible? My whole hola would be, to be able to wear shorts and a swimsuit without feeling completely embarrassed. Any advice, opinions or suggestions are welcome. If I decide to do this, I'll be using someone in the Dallas area. Thanks in advance!
  8. Cowgirljane, so happy you have had good results. I am hoping for the same. I went on my first consult yesterday and went into the consult feeling very confident that he was the surgeon I wanted to use. However, after the consult I felt so frustrated. I don't feel like we communicated well at all together and almost felt like he couldn't be bothered with me I have scheduled another consult hoping that I will feel more at ease. With the Dr who did my sleeve I knew the minute I spoke with him, that he was the Dr I would use. I am hoping I'll find the PS that will make me feel the same type of confidence. This is a huge decision and the after effects are permanent. It is important to me to know I'm making the right choice. Has anyone else dealt with these same feelings????

Tired of hearing I'm too skinny!

Thanks y'all!! I knew I could vent here and some would understand. The people I've had problems with aren't even people I would call friends. Mere acquaintances. Lol. I'm now at 110lbs. I was holding at about 112-115 until my son told me he was deploying. Then I started having stomach issues, which led to me dropping about 5-8 more. I didn't ever think I would be even close to this weight, but I'm perfectly happy where I'm at. I'm a short 5'3" and probably the smallest frame size there is. Lol. For my entire adult life (since I can remember) I've always been at least 40lbs over weight. My heaviest I was at 193 (which was the week before I started my liquid diet). I'll try to figure out how to update my stats. Thanks again for all the positive comments and feed back.
  10. And that would be, my whole goal
  11. Oh man my spelling. Lol. That would be thigh lift

    Pickles?

Funny I came across this tonight! I was at the grocery store and craving pickles! I also think I'm low on potassium and I don't add salt to anything, so I think I'm okay sodium wise! Funny how you start wanting things you didn't eat much of before and how you avoid the things you used to love. Bread is my main thing. I used to love ANY kind of bread. I stay way away from it now.
  13. Hi Kari! Thanks for sharing. I was sleeved the day after you, and also thought I was prepared for what I was about to endure. I have friends and relatives who have been through being sleeved or had the bypass and they warned me that when I first woke up I would be like "what the heck have I done". They were right. I've typically handled pain well, but considering they're cutting out your stomach and moving all kinds of organs around, how can it not be painful. Also the few days/couple weeks after really kicked my butt!!!! One day I actually cried, wondering how much longer I was going to feel bad. With that being said, I have reached a turning point and I feel much better now. I am learning quickly what it means to feel full and when I am TRULY hungry (there is a difference in head hunger and true hunger). I've read a lot people say they're no longer hungry. I am!!! Just not for the same things. I've also had a HUGE problem getting in enough Protein. I HATE the shakes now, and I've tried many!! I get most of my protein thru yogurt, eggs, and milk. I LOVE milk right now. I drink the Smart Balance milk. Tastes like real milk with 0 fat and more protein. I'm looking forward to the day when I can start reintroducing food into my diet. I've noticed I ask everyone all the time- so what did you have for dinner, lunch whenever. Lol. Like I'm living my food life thru them. I am so happy I've done this for myself!! I'm down 31 lbs today and a couple pants sizes!!! But I agree with you Kari, and think its important for people to see all the sides, positive and negative! I'd do it again, but would just be better prepared. Because the first couple weeks were NOT fun!!! Krys

    Clot? Strange pain?

This definitely sounds like a clot to me, and that's NOT something you wanna mess around with. I have a dear friend who almost lost their leg due to a clot. Please check with your Dr ASAP. Keep us posted. Better to be safe than sorry IMO

    Coloring hair

I'm a hair stylist and typically, there aren't any medical procedures that would prevent you from coloring your hair (with the exception of chemo or radiation, because this makes your hair more fragile than anything else). So, with that being said, I plan to continue to color mine and I have many clients who have been sleeved and we were still coloring their hair at their regular times. Go for it!!

I would love to hear results...

Thank you for sharing. I am looking forward to my results. Hope mine are just as good as y'all's.
  21. I'm 37 years old, 5'3" and about 200lbs, I would love to hear some results of others my age and size. I'm wondering how my skin will do after, will I need cosmetic surgeries, or am I catching it before I get too old that I've lost all elasticity? Btw, I'm also very bottom heavy, if anyone out there has similar situations.

    Lookin For A Buddy!

I would love to know how y'all have done?! I'm also a low BMI 33. I have surgery in about three weeks. So it would be nice to see where you are at now? I get so tired of hearing "you're not big enough" just because people get so used to seeing us 80-100 lbs over weight. My mom had the Gastric bypass last year and wants to lose 20 more, and the other day my sister told her she didn't need to lose anymore because she was skinny enough. But who is she (someone who has never has issues with weight) to decide what is an appropriate weight. We've just never seen my mom at a healthy weight. I am proud for her and look forward to getting there too, but do not look forward to every one else's opinions. Lol

I would love to hear results...

That's awesome! Congrats!! How far are you out from getting sleeved, if you don't mind me asking? Mine is scheduled for April 3rd, I'm both excited and anxious That's what I am hoping for. I want to get ALL the weight off eventually, but would like to not have the added issues of hair loss and loss saggy skin (although I'll take that over the extra lbs).
