Hello all, I was sleeved by Dr. Sergio Quinones and I would like to share my grand adventure. I was on a on a plane 01/11/13 from Miami FL and was off to Tijuana to be sleeved. I arrived at around 1:30 p.m. in San Diego Eddie the driver called while the plane was unloading to let me know Emilio would be picking me up. Emilio was awesome very funny we laughed & talked all the way to the Hotel Rio Del Rio. Henry Cortes (who is Dr. Quinone’s patient coordinator and partner in Tijuana) was at the hotel waiting for me and he was wonderful. We had dinner together and talked it helped me feel comfortable with where I was and the fact that I traveled alone. I woke up super early 01/12/13 and then my mind played all kinds of games with me I started getting scared to the point I was in tears and wanting to come home, I started thinking I had made a huge mistake. Henry picked me up and we started talking while driving to the hospital. Once at the hospital this is where I met Dr. Quinones and after talking with him for 5 minutes all my fears were gone. Dr. Q is so sweet and has a way about him that makes you feel like you are his number one patient and his voice has a way to calm your nerves. Dr. Q was willing to take the time to answer any and all questions I had before surgery. I have had a lot of surgeries and I have never had the Doctor take the time to answer last minute questions right before surgery. I woke up from surgery and was doing good except I had a lot of pain from the incisions, Dr. Q adjusted my pain meds and everything was good, I never had gas pains or nausea. The nurses took very good care of me for the 2 days I was in the hospital. Dulce picked me up on the 14[sup]th[/sup] she was great the type of person that would give you the shirt off her back. Eddy gave me a ride to the airport and going across the border back in to the US was easy. I weighed 257 on 01/10/13 I am now 8 weeks post-op and weigh 228. I never did my measurement in the beginning, I started doing them 02/02/13 and as of today 03/15/13 I have lost 10.25 inches from thigh to arm and all the parts in-between. I don’t lose a lot every week (I average 2-3lbs/week) but I am 8 weeks post-op and so far have not had a stall. I did my research for months before choosing which doctor I was going to do my surgery. It was important to me that my surgery was done in a hospital not a clinic. Knowing Dr. Q only does 4 or 5 surgeries per day was another reason I chose him. Thank you, Dr. Quinones and Henry Cortes for giving me the chance to have my life back, and a chance to have a thinner and healthier life.
