How Many Calories Do You Consume On An AVERAGE Day?
allwright replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm at 800-1000 cal a day. I have had 3 fills and am just not hungry...hope it stays that way! -
I'm so sorry you have had trouble with your band. Hopefully you will heal up quickly and move on with your surgery. That is why there are options as we are all different. Some people like me, have had no problems with the band. They there are a few that it does not work for. Good luck and best wishes. Keep us informed!

Hi there, I go to the same office in Louisville and see Dr. Tanner. Great group! You are doing the right thing by getting everything in order. Getting the Psy eval, seeing the dietician, sleep study, stress test, all go along with the info most insurance companies require. What insurance do you have(if you don't mind saying). I attended the seminar in Sept 06 and was banded in Mar 07.

I have been to my doc for 3 "fills" (last one was this past Friday, yeah) and each time I hear people talking about having to be "unfilled" due to stupid things(their words) they did. Some even had to be "re-banded" due to slippage. It was just a strawberry or a bite of chicken....

My doc advised me not to do "abs" etc until 6 weeks allowing for the band to settle. He said that the area around the band would be inflamed as with any foreign object being placed in the body. 6 weeks allowed me to become familiar with the new restrictions, energy level, etc. Please check with your doctor before putting any stress or strain on the abdomen. Good luck with your new adventure!

Wow, you are a good tipper. I give 15% or round it off if close. I would have tipped $5.00 on your bill.

Well, I went shopping today. Got blouses in x-large not plus. Felt awesome!! Penny's has a great sale 60% off right now. Really helped alot. I'm getting tank tops and buying blouses to layer over unbuttoned and as I lose I can wear them seperately and buttoned too.

Good for you and congrats on your banding. All people do not do as well as others. I personally have found that even though I have had no problems so far, it is still important for me to follow my doc's advise. I have read too many postings where folks do have problems. I try to learn from their experiences and not my failures. Good luck with your weight loss plans. Be sure and read other post. Really good source of info!

I need a major pep talk
allwright replied to luvmyiggy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome and first of all....it get's better. Even when you start on mushies...it get's better....when you go to solids....it get's better and finally when you start getting "fills" it get's better! Remember this is a process. You got banded...your body has to adjust and you have to do an attitude and mental adjustment. As each phase of your journey starts, you will feel better about reaching your goal. Hang it there, read, read and read some more post. Stay busy...not eating or thinking about eating. There are excellent post to read and people to chat with. And your not being a "baby" you just need support and we are all here to help! -
I told only my DH, my mom and favorite SIL. I am happy with my decision. I do not have the questions, nay-sayers or opinions that usually follow telling lot's of people. I say that I am "dieting" under advise from my doctor. I say that I am trying to get healthier and get off some meds, and I say I'll be 55 soon and it's time to "shape" up!

I love the Walmart brand of flavored drinks. I make the Peach Tea and Lemonade by the gallons. I take the individual packs with me to work and 3-4 bottles of water to mix. Gives me a morning treat (sunrise orange) a mid-morning break (lemonade) and an afternoon snack (peach tea). I make the grape for after work. Cran-apple is a fun drink, too.

WOW...what a great list...everybody! Most of my list was also on someone else's. So much for thinking it was just me! I love having to "scoot up" in the booth to table. I love putting on my makeup and having a profile jawline and 1 neck. I love putting on clothes and saying "no" too big. I love going to dinner with my hubby and sampling only a child's plate. I like "peeing" in a regular toilet stall instead of waiting for the handicap. I like tieing my shoes and not feel like my face is going to explode. I like getting up from the sofa or chair and not "pulling or pushing". I like turning over in bed and not "flopping" like a beached whale. -
I go back to my doc next Friday. I need another "fill" but have been dreading it. Both "fills" have been interesting as the doc has hit the side of the "port" both times. I won't say it is painful...but it feels weird and scares the fire out of you as it moves suddenly. It is probably tilted to cause this. I think having the "fill" done with floro would be much better for me. I'm going to give it a try!

Welcome Judy and good luck with your future "banding". Hope all goes well for you!

I am just as lost but blissfully so...I just hop on and look at the intro post and reply if I have anything to contribute. Sometimes I go to Chat and other times I just wander around! -

Good for you Patty. I was banded on March 29th and have lost 37 lbs. I love the way I feel and the way my clothes fit. I have lot's more to lose but each day is better. I go back to my doctor next Friday and look forward to the weigh in! I will be 55 in Oct!

The Qualification Process
allwright replied to Bandlam's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know what you are going through. But I was lucky as each time I had been to doctor for back, B/P, cold, allergies, etc. I was weighed and it was charted that we discussed how much better I could and would feel getting the weight off. It was documented that I was on 2 blood pressure meds and still had high readings. I went to neuro doctor for back pain and he too agreed that I would benefit from banding. I got him to write note to that effect. I showed where I had tried Jenny Craig, weighwatchers, Fen-Fen, Atkin's, Slim Fast, Healthy Heart diet, Mayo diet, etc. Actually I called the insurance company in the beginning and ask exactly what they had to have to approve and they told me. I attended the seminar in Sept. and got surgery in March. Good luck with your approval. -
Congratulations. I will have my 3rd doctor visit on the 13th. Hope all goes well for you. It is definitely worth it. My back and knees thank me daily!

Bandster Hell: Anyone in Heaven?
allwright replied to pandagirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My sister had the Gastric bypass.....she was so miserable as she lost yes but she was so hungry. She actual would get mad because she could not eat more. Her stomach said "no" but her head hunger tried to take over. Same with band....you can feel restricted but still have the head hunger. I really love the "band" and the weight I have lost. There is no easy fix. You do have to be willing to do without....but when I do want something....I do a small amount to satisfy my desire but then back on the plan. Hope this helped! -
Hi I'm new to the forum
allwright replied to WandaInHawaii's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Get some of the weight off will definitely show results in movement, activity level and energy! My back pain caused me so many problems. Even though I have only lost 37 lbs since my banding 3/29/07, I can see a world of difference in the way I feel. -
One of the best decisions I've ever made! Good luck with your search!

Hello from Texas! Have my surgery date!
allwright replied to OnMyWay07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck with your "banding"! The doctor chooses the size of band based on your stomach size and what he or she feels will benefit you the most. At least that is what I was told prior to surgery. I have a 4cc band. For a last meal prior to surgery, I had seafood....shrimy, fish, scallops, lobster, ........
