Good tasting chewable multivitamin?
BonnieE replied to lynndtt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest the CVS Chewable Multi Vitamins. They are a million times more tasty than Flintstones! Very flavorful and relatively inexpensive, especially when you combine the purchase with your ExtraBucks. -
????Any suggestions to speed weight loss
BonnieE replied to krystalt313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't rush it. Your body is doing what it needs to heal. The weight loss will come. Just follow the liquid diet and get your Protein in which will help with the loss. Remember, this is your NEW lifestyle and life.....you are here for the long run so be patient! Good luck! -

BonnieE replied to Thatyoungguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like crap for a week. Rest all you can! I slept on my back for a few days then hugged a big pillow when I wanted to sleep on my side, oh it felt soooo good to sleep on my side again, lol -
I have lost 29 lbs so far and my hands are always freezing!

My dr said that egg success rate is 50/50 so don't be too discouraged. They don't sit we'll with me either....but you are eating them way, way too soon!

Vision loss linked to bariatric surgery?!?
BonnieE replied to jenniesue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I found that I couldn't wear my glasses when working on my computer for the first 2 weeks post surgery but thankfully it got better. Now it feels like my eyes are back to normal. -
How many days post op did drinking get easier?
BonnieE replied to findjoy13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi...I got better around the 2 week mark. Now I can actually take 3 good drinks of Water at once. The first two weeks it was about half a cap full of water from the water bottle I used. THAT was frustrating! Hold tight...it does get better!!! -
what are you guys eating 3weeks out
BonnieE replied to toy27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Toy - I am at the 3 week mark as well and am having problems. Scrambled eggs don't work for me, neither is the greek yogurt. I tried vegan chili but that was a big mistake. Last week I even went so far as to buy baby food! Thought Gerber spaghetti and meatballs might work - went down okay but came out the other end like thunder! Yesterday morning I had cream of wheat with Gerber bananas mixed in to make it very runny. It went down okay but I only got about 2-3 tbs in me. I had about the same this morning. I did try a small bite of chicken last night that was okay but my oldest ate the rest of the breast today so I had none to try tonight. I turned to tuna instead. I mushed it up well and added some plain yogurt. That went down well. I used maybe 1/4 of the can but at least it was something! My menu shows cottage cheese, puree fruit, puree Soup and puree veggies this week so there are a few things to try still. And of course I couldn't live without my sugar-free popsicles! :-) Oh, I also am trying the Special K Protein shakes which aren't bad. I thought the sight of another shake would make me barf but that isn't too bad. Of course it takes me an entire day of finish one....but half a day is better than nothing. I think at this point I am taking in less than 10 grams of protein a day so I am doing all I can to get more in. I bought the GNC flavorless Protein powder but it is tricky to incorporate with the few things I am eating thus far. Fortunately I am able to take larger sips of Water finally because I really missed that. I hope this helps. I know how frustrating this is. It's scary too because we KNOW we need the protein. My energy level was at it's lowest ever in my life on Friday. I went to bed at pm in tears, totally exhausted. I have heard that people do hit the "gotta have a nap daily" point around week 4 so at least I am ready for it. Keep smiling....we will get through this together! I hope to see my NUT this week and will share any tips he gives me. ~B~ -

I hate protein shakes!
BonnieE replied to BiggieDukes27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi BiggieDukes...I was in the exact same position as you two weeks ago. I was sleeved on March 29/13. I went to GNC and bought flavorless Protein powder (their brand) and have been flavoring them up with Crystal Lite. My favorite so far is strawberry Lemonade. But never put too much in because the sweetness can make you shake-sick quickly....at least that's what I have found. I tried mixing a bit in with my chicken Soup broth as well. It's not nice to look at but if you sip it without looking at it, you can get it down. lol Once you are allowed to have yogurt, get the Greek kind and try that. I don't think I have had more than maybe 35g of protein a day since my surgery (and usually much less) but it's the best I can do until the menu expands. Good luck!!! -
3 Days In and already down
BonnieE replied to MsVictorious1020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I left the hospital 10 lbs heavier than I went in due to Fluid retention. My IV hand was so swollen it looked like a baseball mitt! Because I am still carrying belly bloat I haven't weighed myself because I don't "feel" like I have lost anything. I am sure I have...how can you not when you don't eat any food...but I will wait till my appt on 4/15 to see. Congrats to those that are losing! I hope to be a loser soon too! lol -
Hi. Are you not able to have yogurt yet? I am on 2 weeks full liquid then can add yogurt, cottage cheese, soft scrambled egg, puree Soup, no-sugar added pudding. Maybe you can try slipping in some yogurt with Protein Powder added and see how you do. It is only 1/2 cup for a meal but it may help. Just yesterday I bought some flavorless Protein powder at GNC and I think it will help me a lot! Right now I am drinking a shake made with ice, Water, protein powder and Mio tangerine orange flavor. It tastes good! If it weren't for this I would be barfing!! I could not handle another chocolate or vanilla shake if my life depended on it!! Good luck!

Return to normal life?
BonnieE replied to musiclover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I am only 9 days post-op I can't add much except to say that I am still bloated, sore and exhausted after a stroll around the grocery store. I would say that for a hard rock night you better give yourself a good 4 weeks - and if it happens sooner, consider it a bonus! Good luck! -
Anybody regretted it, even with no complications?
BonnieE replied to musiclover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I am only 9 days post-op but I have to say that anyone who would do this to their body out of sheer vanity is NUTS! I would NEVER recommend that!! The hardest part right now is drinking the shakes. Just the thought of another shakes makes me nauseous. I went and bought flavorless Protein powder and add Mio to it so that is helping but this is serious stuff. What I woudn't give for a bite of a cold cut sandwich right now - and I don't even like sandwiches! LOL Seriously, this surgery can knock you on your ass! I had to get 3 pints of blood in the hospital and am still running a very low bp. Just be sure you are ready for it. I know it will get easier and I am not at all concerned with my love-affair with food because it was never that hot. I know I will be able to eat pretty much anytime IN MODERATION and AFTER PROTEIN FIRST. If we keep those rules in mind, we can do it. Good luck to everyone!
