    Any other Canadians out there?

I live in Windsor and I will be meeting a surgeon at TWH on June 28th. I was refused for DS last fall because my BMI is not over 60. Now my regional centre says I can ask for the sleeve and hope the surgeon agrees. I have been in this process for more than a couple of years.
  2. I'm Canadian so you can ignore my comment if it doesn't apply. First of all, the regulation is that the US asks for the passport to return to the US, not the other way round. Even if it has not been enforced yet for those of you who have commented, it is something ANY border guard can enforce at any time, on either side of the border. If I were making this trip for surgery, I would not be taking any chances. Also somebody asked about having different names on different documents. I lived in Mexico for several years and I can assure you that Mexican bureaucracy has a very hard time with names not matching. If you have a birth certificate that is not your current name I would carry the connecting document as well (eg. your marriage certificate).
  3. So, I was just listening to the news and OHIP no longer covers a full annual physical for healthy adults. The rationale is that it's not necessary. Even the news reporter recognized that it's about the money. Those few minutes with your doctor was billed at $77 but as of 2013, OHIP will only pay $50. Why is this not surprising? We have to keep asking, "Where is the money?" The money has not disintegrated into thin air but in every direction we see examples of how it is not going to the people...
