  1. Is it full liquids? I could have thinned/strained soups. So I would get a variety of soups and puree them, thin with milk or water and strain if necessary. I also thinned SF pudding. I would thin anything to a cream of soup type consistency and a little more if necessary.
  2. My surgeon told me that last year he did more band to RnY revisions than anything else.... I think it is expected. Good Job taking the first step!
  3. I have been digging unsweetened iced tea too, but I get mine from Sonic because I love their ice.
  4. One month tomorrow I started my pre op diet.... Time flies!

When is a goal too excessive?

Everyone is so different, from bone structure to lean body mass etc... I have seen some posts/pictures where they started size 24/26 and now they are quite small 4/6 and the first thing they say is "I never thought I would be this size" that has always been my thought. Even at my lowest in high school I was still a 10 maybe 12 so I have never thought I could get below 150-160. I have a friend who is 5'4" and her goal weight is 117, I have always thought she was crazy but after this forum I told her the other day that I won't doubt her, that if she wants to make her way to that goal I will support her, granted I have always known her heavy, she has an Asian ancestory and her grandmother is quite tiny, who am I to say or think that because she seems like 117 would be way too small that she couldn't do it?
  7. So I know that the video is geared towards people with RnY, but another part of it is when you drink it essentially hits your pyloric valve which opens up and lets the water go straight through.
  8. Ughhhh I'm on my phone so I can't find it but there is a great video on YouTube where a guy demonstrates the effects of eating and drinking together with funnels and applesauce. Ill look when I get home if someone else doesn't post something sooner.
  9. It has something to do with the vagus nerve. I of course can not find the article I read about it, maybe someone else has or has more info. When I get home this afternoon I can research a little bit more.
  10. http://www.beautyandthebypass.com/ I enjoy her stuff.
  11. Must be the nurse in us! I'm a nursing student but its there.... Under the fluff :-)
  12. It is amazing to me that at nearly 3 weeks out the changes I see already. Obviously the initial loss, the clothing getting loose, more energy etc... But something that I have noticed is the decrease in my resting heart rate, before surgery high 70s to low 80s was my norm, when I would be up doing stuff I would find myself in the low 120s, which always created an out of breath, sweaty mess. I am a regular pulse checker.... And there's an app for that. So I do keep track. I now sit in the low to mid 60s and when I am up doing stuff... The 90s. Amazing what a 10% decrease in body weight can do!

    I'm embarrassed...

Does your gym have a women's only section? Or a cardio cinema or something? When I first start back (every few months for the last 6 years) I always frequent one of those areas first. Another one is a swim fitness class, you tend to be with a little bit of an older population and heavier population. I always feel welcome there. Eventually you will be walking in with your head held high ready to make that gym your b**** it doesn't take long!
  14. Too long! Call Dr. I fully agree less in less out but 16 days is a long time especially with an enema in there.
  15. Oh no no no there are pharmaceuticals for that! I have never experienced nausea (except for a horrid multi vitamin experience) I hope it's better!

    Staples or glue ?

I had a great experience with glue. My 4 tiny incisions are nearly invisible. I know that if you have an allergic reaction to the glue it can be a mess. I would guess that steri strips are another option, but I would never want anything other than glue. It's amazing stuff.

3 months out & baby crazy!

I have to agree with the others, wait until your doctor says it is OK. I am in a support group with a lady who had RnY. She has quite a bit to lose, probably close to 200#. She got pregnant within a few months and continued to lose and had a beautiful healthy baby but by 15 months had a pretty small baby and still quite a bit to go. Now 8 months later she is pregnant again and still has a good amount of weight to lose. You need to remember the honeymoon period, that period of time that you are so much more likely to get to that goal. Use this time, make your goals, soon enough you will hold that precious baby in your arms and it will have all been worth it.
  18. My son was 13 when I told him, 14 when I had surgery. I was very open and honest with him. I explained why I was doing it, what the surgery consisted of and what to expect after. His big concern was me stealing his clothes. He would periodically ask me other questions as I went along, like will you come home skinny.... I wish. He struggled when I was in the hospital but was happy to visit me and happier to have me home.

    Help!

I stopped trying protein shakes around day 5 and didn't start again until I was nearly 2 weeks out. I did broth etc... But my one and only focus was water. More important to prevent dehydration at this point. I found I felt much better hydrated, even lacking the protein. Once I was able to hit my water goal and maintain it I added protein back in and I have felt great.

    Strange feeling in stomach

When you say hole do you mean it feels like things are leaving your stomach quickly? Is it liquids? Protein shakes? Puréed? Full foods? Have you tried taking smaller quantities? So if you can take 4oz have you tried cutting off at 2oz? Or slowed down if its fluids?

    Post op advice

I had a relatively easy hospital stay and recovery. I appreciated having people visit, but the first 24 hrs I was on morphine and was very sleepy. I appreciated when people would walk with me at the hospital. The first few days I was tired, I took frequent naps at odd times. I never had buyers remorse but I did have a food meltdown one day. Once I got on fork soft and off full liquids I have been fine.
  23. I made dinner for my family days after surgery, it made me feel like I was getting back to the norm. I had no issues with it.
