Were you sent home with pain meds? It might help to stagger so your narcotic and 2 hours later Tylenol. And 2 hours later (or whatever the time range is) your narcotic.

August Sleevers...how are you doing? Any friends near Monterey?
Macy6 replied to MontereyMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved yesterday around 2pm. I feel pretty good considering. My morphine PCA pump is my friend. I'm dehydrated and my urine is still dark but they are pumping me full of fluids. I like to walk but don't get far, Lots of burping when I'm up. More back pain than anything, not really sure what is up with that. Looking forward to starting fluids when I'm signed off later today. -

Is it constant? Or come and go? Do you have your gallbladder? Have you ever had issues with your gall bladder? Your description makes me think gallbladder pain.

Good luck! I leave for the hospital in 4.5 hours. Let us know how it goes!

When you loose weight one of the first places to "shrink" is your liver. The thing is, it keeps shrinking. So If you are put on a pre op diet and screw up and cheat one time is your liver going to expand? Unlikely, however you can force your body to restart the process of what the diet is doing to you. The low calories and the low carbs is necessary to keep the process going and it wasn't that long ago that someone posted that their doctor said that even with her having lost weight AND being diligent on the pre op diet that her liver was still quite large. At my pre op seminar they said they had a patient that no matter the incision it was all liver. So are we human? Will we screw up? Maybe. It would be best to try to avoid it. Today is my last day of my pre op diet, was I perfect? No. I didn't follow word for word my my NUT said to eat. However I was quite diligent in maintaining the calories and carbs necessary. She wanted me to eat 2oz of lunch meat at lunch everyday and 3oz of lean protein at dinner everyday plus veggies etc. last night I made a beautiful salad and chose to save my meat for the day for my salad. I lost 10# in 9 days and was never hungry (from day 4 on)

You look fantastic! Congratulations on your success! -
I survived my pre op diet, lost 10# in 9 days. I have clear liquids all day and I'm currently enjoying chicken broth and Jello. 21 hours...

I've seen these posts, I know I am not in a class of my own. I still can't convince myself all Is well. I guess I won't be until proven otherwise. What's the saying about not worrying about things until they happen.... Or something like that. I worry about them canceling my surgery because I don't loose enough at my final weigh in tomorrow, I worry that something in my final blood draw comes back and they need to postpone. I worry about not waking up after surgery and leaks and strictures and doing things right. One step at a time... One moment at a time. In just a few short days I will hit the 7 month mark since my referral. I've dreamed of this day for months and its finally here. I just need to make it through the next 32.5 hours :-)

Laura-ven, granted I have only ever looked at your tiny square picture but I would have never guessed you over 30.

There is a huge thread of nothing but MFP peeps. I'm on my phone so I can't find it at the moment. Definitely give it a search though. -
Birth control? 6 week follow up and BCP suggested instead
Macy6 replied to huligoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would never recommend depo to anyone. I would say birth control is a good idea, you can get low hormone ones and honestly if you are keeping yourself in check you should be fine. My antidepressant has a high weight gain probability, I've been on it 3-4 months and lost weight. I also keep myself in check. -
Why did you choose vsg over other wls?
Macy6 replied to jessicaanders29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walked in asking for bypass and my surgeon said you know with your age, lack of co morbidities and difficulty with taking vitamins (I was honest) I would recommend the sleeve, if it were my wife I would recommend the sleeve. Go home and do the online education (required) on bypass and the sleeve and let us know. I had done little listening during the sleeve part of my first weight loss seminar because I knew I was getting the bypass. I went home, did my education, read my required book, searched online and I KNEW I wanted the sleeve. I had no doubt in my mind I was making the right choice. 2 days and 13 hours until surgery time.... -

Live support groups vs. virtual support groups
Macy6 replied to disneyteach's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go to a weight loss support group monthly and regularly visit VST. I agree there are clearly defined differences. I appreciate my monthly meetings because they have a different speaker or lesson every month; anything from vitamins to an exercise physiologist, the psychiatrist came in and talked about the mental part of weight loss. I also appreciate VST for the different people, the different views and all of the information in one space. -
I believe that is every time someone "like so one of your posts or comments.

It looks great! -
I was referred by an NP I regularly saw and my first visit with her. My doctors office made me see a resident the next month and I saw her 4 out of the 6 times and saw the original referrer 2 times. I had no issues with approval. Just let ur surgeons office know.

I'm with you sister. I am going in Tuesday as well. Clear liquids aren't until Monday but highly restricted, very low carb, heavy protein shake diet has me feeling the blues. I go from great and energetic to a headache and starving to questioning my choice to counting the minutes.

Tons of fluids.... Saline nasal rinses.... Emergen-C good luck!

Last must-have food before your pre-op diet
Macy6 replied to Rdytolose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing I did was go out to eat with a good friend before my pre op diet at my favorite restaurant. Ordered my normal and came home with a ton of leftovers which my mom took care of. I am day 6 of my pre op diet and doing pretty good.
