Just to comment on a couple of the issues. My ster-strips fell off after I showered as well. The incision by the port was much longer, so I added some gauze and some tape to it. I did have to replace that after every shower though. As for the pop... I used to drink a lot of diet coke, but have not since surgery. I have had a few mouth fulls, and it just doesn't taste that great to me. I think having the occasional pop would be fine. BUT, the manufacturers do not recommend drinking carbonated drinks... they are the onces that made the band, so they should know the good and bad things about it.

I've done it!!! It's booked, oh my God.....
Debwhite replied to Band-aided's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
congrats on booking your surgery. You will love it! I too was not even hungry after surgery, Had to force myself to drink Water and the liquid part. I found it toughest once I hit the puree stage. Just be careful as this is the healing stage. Diet Coke? I was an addict, had my first one for Breakfast, and didn't quit all day. I quit cold turkey after my surgery (I did sneak some in the pre-op diet). The carbonation is not good for the band. However, at the bash, it was amazing how many people were drinking pop. I think they try to emphasize not to do it too often. Actually when I had my first one post-op (it was at least 5 months post) it didn't taste the same, and I could not even drink the whole pop. Good luck with your journey... -
Did YOU Start Solids Early???
Debwhite replied to susansilver's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I too started early, by about 1 week. I was just tired of the puree stage, and was careful about the foods I chose. I don't think it has had a negative effect on my loss so far. -
My goal for June is to stay away from chocolate. Jill (the nutritionist from TLBC) said to start thinking like I am allergic to it. Worked for the 1st week after the bash, but I have succumed to the craving today. I'm still losing though, and that's better than before the motivational bash!

My surgery was performed by Dr. Joffe, and I think he is a great surgeon. He is in a public position, and allegedly did things that jepordized that position. I do not regret him being my surgeon, and would let him do my surgery again, dispite what I have learned about him. I have full support from TLBC, and that is what matters to me. I have not talked to the surgeons since surgery anyway...

:omg:I have never burped so much since I got my band. Sometimes with warning, and sometimes not. It does matter how fast you eat, and drink. Debbie
