Hi all, I'm 6 weeks post op and have been having mild to moderate discomfort on my right side (like right over my appendix). I put a call into my surgeon's office and I'm waiting for a call back. They may instruct me to call my primary. Has anyone else has issues on their right side (NOT left/gallbladder)? I'm wondering if my appendix was irritated during the surgery. I have no other symptoms. Thanks!

PREGNANCY DURING PRE-OP....HELP!
chell1978 replied to MizzouFan1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You should be candid with your doctor and ask. Different doctors and insurance companies have different preop requirements. If you need to have a certain amount of time concentrating on weight loss to qualify I'm guessing the time before your pregnancy may not count. Also, if you have to have a c section (you never know, it could happen even last minute) the bariatric surgeon may have a required amount of time for healing before he'd consider operating. Mine was very happy i was a year out from my emergency c section before starting the process. I dont know what the minimum time would be. Also, I'm 17 days post op and this is not easy. I have 2 kids (4 and 20 months) and the post op changes, diet, emotions, lack of energy, appointments are not things I would want to go through with a post partum body and a newborn. Also, if you plan to breastfeed I don't know if that would be ok. The tiny amount of nutrition I can tolerate would not be enough to nourish both me and a baby at this point. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but these are all things I would ask about and consider. -

I'm a week out and have SO MUCH GAS INSIDE me that is killing me. I would LOVE to fart and belch like an old beer belly man. seriously, to let some of this torturous gas out would be heaven. -

Are you feeling ok? I'm sorry you're in a stall pattern. I'd love to go to the group but my dad is having surgery that day so I'm in Boston all day. Have you been successful at losing a lot of weight? I'm excited to get started but know its going to be a long road. I have a 1 year old and a 4 year old and I'm worried about being able to care for them since I'm home full time with them. I live in Hudson NH. -

Are you near Boston? I was raised in Boston! I'm seeing them at the Garden 6/2 and got Boston Orpheum tickets for 3/30 right before my surgery. I'm thinking before and after pics on those days are a must!!!

How To explain away my scars?
chell1978 replied to bigchange's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The scars may not be consistent with this but you could say I had some "woman issues " and that should end the questions right away -
This is inspirational to me. I have the same stats as you and I'm being sleeved 4/8. What advice do you have? What's your exercise routine like?

Protein shakes are nasty to me - help!
chell1978 replied to luckysmomma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hate protein shakes too but found the GNC Lean shakes to be delicious. My favorite is the premixed chocolate. If you go into the store and ask for a sample they will let you try some. Very good and I'm picky. -

Hi everyone, I'm an April sleever but worried about doing stairs when I get home. We have a lot of them so I thought I'd ask, are you guys able to get up and down stairs ok? Stairs were TOUGH after my c section. I know this is totally different though. I wish you all the best, quick healing, excellent results and minimum pain!! -

Does everyone have a pre-op liquid diet?
chell1978 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm getting sleeved on 4/8 and no one at my dr office has mentioned a pre op liquid diet. I have had to lose weight to qualify and now I'm watching what I eat closely but I haven't heard that I will need to do a pre-op liquid diet in the days before surgery. I will ask at my next appointment. Perhaps they're waiting until my preop nutrition class to break the good news. Did everyone have to do that? -

Yes, I was. I have a pre op class 3/28. Maybe I get details there? I'm going to a seminar on possible complications tonight perhaps I can ask someone.
