The sleeve and hair loss.
Bsb1012 replied to sncontreras's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I finally went to my hairdresser once I could no longer hide the baldness. She said there's no miracle cure. Biotin will keep ends from breaking, but does not promote hair growth, though she said it won't hurt to keep taking it. She said the hair growth can move along faster with scalp stimulation. She said Listerine on the scalp helps stimulate it, massaging the scalp helps to stimulate it and even standing on your head does. So I'm just trying to be patient and I know I will get through this too. *sigh* -

I'm 5 months post op and have lost about a basketball size of hair!!! I cried a lot! I can't part my hair because there is bald spots everywhere I part. I wear my hair EVERYDAY pulled up in a messy ponytail to hide the baldness. My hair was very thin to start with and I can't believe all the hair I've lost. Sure hope it stops before I'm completely bald!

I was told no as well, but I started using one about 3 weeks ago. I'm only 8 weeks into this. I've had no problems at all

I'm 7 weeks out and can pretty much eat what I want. I really want to put some chopped up pickles in my tuna. Do you think I have to peel off the skin first? Or should I avoid the pickles altogether? Or leave the skin on? The paper the doctor gave me told me to take off all peels, is that considered a peel?

Dill pickle relish! Brillant idea!!! Why didn't I think of that!!! Thank you everyone!!!

I've been eating watermelon since 2 was post op. my surgeon said it was great for me because when you chew it, it breaks down to water. It's one of my must haves!

I'm almost 3 weeks post op and have come down sick with a chest cold. The coughing is killing me. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can take for it? Also, is it possible to cause light spotting of blood from coughing so hard? I haven't had a period in over ten years!

4-6 oz??? I'm three weeks out too but if I even dreamed of eating that much, I would get so sick! I'm lucky if I can get down 2 oz at most! What am I doing wrong? -
Now I'm scared. I'm post menopausal. I'm 54 y/o. I thought it was just stress from the surgery and going back to work this week and on top of that catching this miserable cold. Now I'm scared.

I'm new to this board and have read many of your success stories. I am post op 7 days and cannot believe the severity of gas pains in my chest. I'm thinking they're gas pains, but I have no idea. Maybe heartburn, but I've never had heartburn to know. I'm having no problem getting my 64 oz. of liquids in. Not having any problem walking, everything seems fine other than this constant pain in my chest. Does anyone have any remedies? Is it normal to feel this 7 days after surgery? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you for reading.

You guys are AWESOME!!!!! I'm going to copy your routine, if you don't mind, and see how it works for me. I have no problem following the program, but nobody ever explained how much and how often...hence my overeating. They just gave me a list of which foods I could eat during which week, and that's it. Thank you soooooo much! I think this will make things so much easier for me!

Yes, they said I was overeating and the pain was the way my "new" stomach was telling me it had enough. Today I've only consumed 25 oz because I'm afraid of overdrinking. I mean after 4 oz of broth, when should I drink again? I'm so afraid I've already done damage that I'm afraid to do anything!
-
Thank you for the prayers. They helped! I really feel silly, but apparently I'm overrating. So my question is how many ounces of liquid do you consume in a sitting? I woke up today and now I'm afraid to consume anything!

Finally got hold of a dr. They want me in ER ASAP. He said they are concerned about blood clots. He said I shouldn't be having gas problems anymore.

Thank you for the responses. Last night I got some Gas X strips and that seems to have helped a lot! The pain is still there, but not nearly as painful as it was. I see my doctor on Monday, so hopefully by then things will have worked themselves out. Here's praying to better times ahead! Thank you again

Unfortunately my doctor is out of town this week. I have to get through this on my own, I just don't know how. It's starting to break me down to the point of crying. I usually have a high tolerance to pain, but this doesn't subside.

I prepared for the headaches. I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke per op and knew after surgery if I didn't have caffeine I would die! I bought Crystal Light Energy and no headaches.

I went number 2 twice already. I was sleeved on the 26th so I'm only four days out. I've had a very difficult time wiping but I do the best I can. Number one no problem.... Number two is tricky. Just let the shower run down your backside or get a large towel and trying wiping by pulling the towel through the area. So far, this sucks!

I'm four days post op and am having those pains you're talking about as well. Not to mention according to my scale, I've GAINED weight! I'm do freakish out about this to the point I wish I hadn't of done it.

Oh okay. I only took one week off. I didn't tell anyone I was getting this done. Guess I will be calling in sick for another week.
