To Dump Or Not To Dump

Yes I had just the sleeve done. Taking in too much sugar is a bad thing for me, unless it has more to do with fat or carbs. I think I'll just lay low for now, dumping syndrome isn't a wonderful expierience, I'm just glad it's only a temporary thing and can be prevented.
  3. Just wondering when additional grams of sugar will be tolorated by my system. Right now I try to keep at no more than 5gr of sugar per food. I'm at about 7 weeks out and recall buying a wrong Protein drink and it made me dump (literally). It had 23gr sugar per serving. Is this something that will gradually increase on its own or am I destined to live with out the occaisional inlaws cookie etc... with out worrying about destroying my and my home's plumbing. Thanks in advance.....
  4. Gonna give the Tums a try, cant really lose by trying.
  5. Now about 6 weeks out... I told my dr of the problem, he just shrugged his shoulders. I have noticed that if I press on my stomach area the pain goes away for a short while. If the dr. isn't alarmed, neither am I. No other problems.
  6. Yes! I have found the noises to be funny (along with other people) . The best is when my cat is sleeping on my lap while I'm having one of my protein drinks. My stomach makes one of many gurgling, bubbling noises my cat jumped up, looked at me and runs off! Hey, it's cheap entertainment! As for my protein intake... I found the Ensure High Protein shake is the best so far. 25g protein, 5gms sugar and 210 calories. Two of them each day, not all at once. and then some refried beans or a well mashed hard boiled egg and I think I hit my 60gms of protein. My Dr. is happy and for the most part, so am I.
  7. But eating doesnt help usually. Who would have thought that I would ever wonder if I was hungry or not! The answer was easy before... hungry all the time!
  8. Maybe like a spasm, feels like its in a knot at times.
  9. Yes, I have been taking Prilosec for years. This does not feel like the reflux I used to have though. That was a definite burn in my esophogus... like heartburn.
  10. I'm 4 weeks post op and I've been having some stomach discomfort. I can only describe it as a gnawing feeling that you'd get when VERY hungry or if you were to take a medication that needed to be taken with food and didn't eat. I guess it's like a mild nausea. I've tried 4oz of low sugar yogurt, that didn't seem to matter either way. A few minutes later I would feel the same thing. During the day it is annoyiing but at night it's hard to get to sleep because of it. Drinking water sometimes will aggrivate it. I cant tell if I'm hungry because my stomach is always gurgling or bubbling or making some new noise. I was wondering if any of this is just normal. I have a "one month" appointment comming next week so I can ask my Dr. then but figured I'd try here first.
  11. Well I'm not alone, thats good. Hopefully we'll both be doing well in a short while.

    Regrets

Well first I will say... it works! Then I will say I do regret doing it. But there's no going back, so I have to live with my decision. The diet is a pain, but not too big a deal. I'm just trying to get used to my meds and Vitamins, watching protien uptake. I do want to pass on something I wish someone had told me, Watch your sugar intake! I was using great tasing Protein shakes that had 28gms/per serving. My bathroom and I became close friends! The bottom line here is... if it's going to save your life, do it! If you just think its an easy way to lose weight and keep it off... Go to weight watchers or eat Lean Cuisine!
  13. It's easy to lose weight when just the thought of food make me nausious. Even TV commercials make me sick. Kinda funny, if there were a drug that could make me feel this way, I would not have needed surgery. Up until last week I was feeling better. I have followed the diet very closely and have slowly introducing pureed and soft foods. I'm trying to get some nutrients in but even Flintstone Vitamins make me feel sick, the smell does it. Just before and after surgery I could drink unflavored Protein drinks made with Water. Tasted nasty, but I did it with out feeling sick. Now chicken broth is stomach turning. Anyone else expierence this?
