Absolutely! If you aren't Paris Hilton's size, please don't try and wear her clothes.

Jodie...it is relevant only in the proper context. This was the beginning of the whole thing: Originally Posted by mousecrazy I hope we can all just send our prayers/good energy to our troops, and hope for the success of this mission, for their sakes, and the sake of our country. What continues to nag at me is the poll they did recently, in which 61% of the Iraqis support the attacks on American forces. How can we ever hope to succeed when the very people we are committed to helping don't want us there? Then you posted the following, with NO documentation, I might add - not even something from the "biased" AP. Actually its the Iraqi War that is not approved of by 68% of POLLED Americans (many of whom, probably didnt vote)....Not necessarily Bush. I like George W Bush, I just dont like the War in Iraq. His approval rating and that of the war are different, however related ofcourse, but can vary and differ So I documented my source for you. Please note that within the article it mentions that the poll was done for the University of Maryland's Program on International Policy Attitudes. Wikipedia is a pretty unreliable source too, but here's what it has to say about PIPA. The Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) is an institution devoted to research on the public opinion of international politics. It is jointly run by the Center on Policy Attitudes and the Center for International and Security Studies at Maryland at the School of Public Affairs, University of Maryland, College Park. PIPA has investigated topics such as the public perceptions of United States international politics and of international organisations (NATO, the United Nations, and the International Monetary Fund). It maintains the Americans and the World website, described as a "source of comprehensive information on US public opinion on international issues". In January 2006, PIPA launched WorldPublicOpinion.org a comprehensive website devoted to public opinion on international policy and affairs, stating that while "Others report what the world does, we report what the world thinks." And you are correct that everyone is politically biased. I have never, I hope, implied otherwise.

They sold those, too. They were the accessories. They also sold jackets - loose jackets with no buttons. And skirts. Long sleeved tops, short sleeves, and no sleeves.

That's a sign you're getting OLD.........LOL Actually, they looked very well put together. You could do a solid color head to toe, or contrasting colors. My favorite was royal purple top and pants with lime green belt and jacket. Sounds awful, but I got lots of compliments on it. They were knit fabric but not tight or form-fitting. They were the best thing ever for travel - never a wrinkle and you could pack a whole wardrobe in one carry-on, because they mixed and matched so well. I wish they would come back in style. Much easier on the eyes than hip-huggers with muffin tops hanging over and butt cleavage showing. YUK! Who wants to walk around all day looking at other people's underwear?

Here you go.....good old E-Bay comes thru again. These things were super comfy. I wasn't fat when they were in style, but they must have been great for plus size women.

It's not an Inamed needle. It's a Huber needle. Inamed does not manufacture them and I'm not sure they even sell them. If you are getting fluoro for $65.00 and fills for $30.00 (plus the needle), consider yourself blessed. Many people pay way more than that.

This appeared in USA Today a couple of months ago... WASHINGTON (AP) — About six in 10 Iraqis say they approve of attacks on U.S.-led forces, and slightly more than that want their government to ask U.S. troops to leave within a year, a poll finds. The Iraqis also have negative views of Osama bin Laden, according to the early September poll of 1,150. The poll, done for University of Maryland's Program on International Policy Attitudes, found: • Almost four in five Iraqis say the U.S. military force in Iraq provokes more violence than it prevents. • About 61% approved of the attacks — up from 47% in January. A solid majority of Shiite and Sunni Arabs approved of the attacks, according to the poll. The increase came mostly among Shiite Iraqis. • An overwhelmingly negative opinion of terror chief bin Laden and more than half, 57%, disapproving of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. • Three-fourths say they think the U.S. plans to keep military bases in Iraq permanently. • A majority of Iraqis, 72%, say they think Iraq will be one state five years from now. Shiite Iraqis were most likely to feel that way, though a majority of Sunnis and Kurds also believed that would be the case. The PIPA poll, which included an oversample of 150 Sunni Iraqis, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Food equals just about every human emotion. We feed sorrow, joy, sickness, and achievement. When we don't know what else to do, or say, we bring a casserole - or a cake. Women are especially prone to feeding our own emotions and those around us. Men drown their sorrows....women smother theirs in chocolate.

Well....what if your DAUGHTER was about 10 when Units were in style? Would that make you feel a lot younger? It sure makes me feel OLD!
-
Yes...they were made out of a knit fabric and were pretty much "one size fits all". You could buy pants, skirts, different tops....all in a variety of mix and match colors, plus accessories. God, Wheetsin....you are disgustingly young.

I had a friend who did professional quality sewing. She made me knit stuff that looked just like Units - right down to the little vent holes under the arms.

My DH once took our son's much-loved little mixed breed to the vet and came back without her. My heart almost jumped out of my chest. "Where is Missy?" I whispered. "They kept her in doggy ICU," he said. "How much is that going to cost?" I asked. "I don't know," he said, "I figured I didn't have any choice, so I didn't even ask." Gotta love a man like that! I wish I had a kitty, but my DH is allergic. This is Lucy. Her groomer calls her "five pounds of trouble".

I am the same way about my animals. Pay no attention to your co-workers. Those furry children deserve good care, too - just like the non-furry kind.

This is long....but a great story, nonetheless. My grandson is 17 and due to a congenital problem, he has less than half his colon left (after numerous surgeries). Today his mom and dad took him to see my gastrointerologist. Nick was tired and kind of snoozing on the table while the doctor talked to his folks. My DIL mentioned in passing that Nick wants to get a tattoo and she and her husband (both of whom are tattoo-free) told him absolutely not. The doctor obliged her by pointing out to Nick all the hazards of tattoo parlors/needles. Then he turned back to talking about "short gut syndrome", and related Nick's condition to a person who has had bypass surgery. "But your mom has done very well with hers," he said. (I know....everyone thinks WLS = bypass.) Well....all Nicholas heard was "tattoo" and "your mom has done very well with hers". My DIL said he raised up like he had been shot. "Nanny has a TATTOO?" he asked. "No...no....I didn't say that," said the doctor, who, according to my DIL, was almost ROLLING on the floor. She said she had never seen a doctor laugh so hard. After the doctor, they came to my house. Nick still wasn't convinced that I wasn't hiding a tattoo. "Do you have a tattoo, Nanny?" he asked me for the 3rd or 4th time. Finally, I said, "Do you want to see it?" "YES!" He could hardly contain himself. "Okay....but it's on my butt." "Never mind!" he said. "I'd rather not know than be scarred for life." Now all my grandchild think I might be the only Nanny they know with a tattoo. I don't expect it to last, however. One of the girls is sure to call my bluff.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
Carlene replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
I have a very good friend who subsidized a daughter and her alcoholic husband for a long time (still does, in fact). They did not apply for food stamps, etc because there are work/school requirements that they weren't willing to meet, but the daughter became pregnant and applied for Medicaid. The baby came early and lived a month, all in NICU. She also had cardiac surgery. The bills came to over half a million dollars. My good friend is a Republican. She is very anti-welfare. Except in her daughter's case. She has all kinds of reasons why HER situation is "different". As would we all, I suspect. -
ME, TOO!!!!!! Those guys on Miami Ink scare me.....seriously.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
Carlene replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
It's not the system that's broken in this case, it's your cousin's integrity. Even if her parents were Rockefellers, they still would not be responsible for providing her and her child with food, clothing, and shelter. And it's a "choice" only in the sense that robbing a bank is a choice. What she's doing is breaking the law - period. And someone needs to report her. Have you considered doing so? -

Carlene replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
If she qualifies, yes. That means IF she discloses honestly all her assets, income (including gifts from parents), school/work hours completed, etc. What her parents are able or willing to provide financially has no bearing on anything, as she is an adult. I suspect she is not being completely honest with her caseworker, however. Gifts in kind or cash count as income for the month in which they are received. This scenario is no different than all those young women on welfare who have cash-dispensing boyfriends on the side (no disrespect to your cousin, incidentally). If your aunt and uncle cut off the money supply, she will move back home. In the meantime, they are enabling her to not only break the law, but to hone her skills as a master manipulator. Your cousin's education isn't all coming from the university. -

Carlene replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
Well of course it's the responsibility of the parents, but if they don't step up to the plate and take care of their kids, should the rest of us just stand by and let whatever happens, happen? The victim should not be held accountable. I am not, by the way, talking about "taking care" of the entire US population. I am talking about food. Just FOOD. And you are saying what? If their parents don't feed them, let them starve?
