I agree....best post in the whole damn thread.

You know.....you just can't fix stupid.

Gail... You have every right to be proud of your son, and his wife. Both my husband and my brother are Air Force vets from the Vietnam era. It is a long and proud tradition, as well as a huge responsibility, that these young men and women carry on their shoulders. I know your boy will do you proud. God bless you and yours....

Iraq and 9/11 have NOTHING to do with one another. There was not one single Iraqi among the 9/11 terrorists. Where on Earth do people get the idea that Sadam Hussein was behind 9/11? That was Osama Bin Laden, and he's (probably) in Afghanistan - not Iraq! What have we taken God out of? And who has done the taking? I am on excellent terms with God. I talk to Him regularly. I visit His house every Sunday. I read the book - several times. And I saw the movie. But I still think George Bush is evil personified.

The band won't let you eat certain foods. I can't tell you what those will be for you, as they are different for everyone. I can no longer eat bread :cry , and I absolutely LOVE bread. But it's for the best. I also had to give up a lot of fresh fruit, some veggies, most meat (I eat tuna, crisp bacon, and ground beef, plus a bit of chicken). I can't eat cake, but that's a good thing, too. You have to have the willpower not to scarf down ice cream and chocolate, though, as well as chips. Those are "slider foods", meaning they will slide right on thru the band. My husband was 288 and he has lost down to 210. Good luck and keep us updated!

I am from Texas, too - born and raised. And I would like to correct the misconception that George W Bush is a Texan. He is not. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut and attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. He also attended Yale and Harvard. We may have to own up to a lot of things, but thank God we don't have to claim George Bush!

That was kinda fun....and a little bit creepy. You should try it.

Leatha, please don't misunderstand. No one is saying that Bill Clinton wasn't capable of lots of naughtiness, but really.....do you you honestly think he was behind the deaths of all those people? If you think about it, someone could probably make a "hit list" like this about all of us. Here's mine. CY.....(Father) died at age 55 after a mysterious, debilitating illness. He weighed just 66 pounds at his autopsy. RT...(Neighbor) suicide by gunshot to chest. Sam (don't remember his last name) Neighbor - died when he crashed his small airplane. MV...(Boyfriend's mother) dropped dead at work. Age 45. NS...(Friend of family) died in one-car, high speed auto accident. JD...(Friend of family) killed by hit and run driver. JC...(First husband) died at age 27 in a bizarre industrial accident. He fell 13 stories and was pronounced dead at the scene. GA....(Nephew by marriage) suicide by shotgun blast to the head. AC...(Cousin) found dead in his apartment approximately 3 days post-mortem. DH...(Cousin by marriage) shot and killed by his bride of one month. RC...(Cousin's husband) killed in motorcycle accident, which almost decapitated him. BB...(Ex Mother-in-law) died at 55 after weeks of hospitalization for a mysterious stomach ailment. RH...(Cousin's sister-in-law) drowned in the bathtub. OY...(Mother) Admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, she was found unconscious on the floor of her room and moved to ICU, where she died suddenly the next morning. Her last words were, "Why haven't they brought my breakfast yet?" I could go on, but you get the point, I'm sure. The wider your circle of acquaintances, the more sinister the possibilities.

I can't believe you made me work so hard!

You're right, Leatha. George Bush is not smart enough to qualify as the Anti-Christ.
-
Bloomin'... This thread is about more than just the war in Iraq. It's about George Bush and whether (or not) he deserves the title, Worst American President in History. I admit that I am a rabid Bush Basher. I think he is the Anti-Christ. I think he is the most arrogant SOB to ever hold office and I wouldn't vote for him if he was running for dog catcher. He has lied to the American public, although I must admit, we should be used to that by now. I think most of them (US Presidents) lied to us. At least when Clinton lied, nobody died. Bush didn't cheat on his wife (as far as we know). Good for him. But I'd rather that than what he has done to the country. As bad as it might sound, I don't really care about the whole adultery thing. After all, I don't even know Laura. But I absolutely understand if you feel differently. There was no joining of forces between Sadam Hussein and Bin Laden to bring about 9/11. They despised one another. In fact, we have probably done more to unite the Muslims than anyone else.

A wonderful, civil, intelligent discussion between a well-known minister/author (The Purpose Driven Life) and a PhD student in neuroscience, also an author, on the existence of God. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17889148/site/newsweek/?gt1=9246

This is Nicholas, my oldest grandchild, and Cheyenne, the granddaughter who lives with me. They are cousins. And this is Lane, Cheyenne's younger brother, and his cousin Shane.

Fran....you have not been paying attention, girlfriend. There is a whole group of people on this board who think the war is a GOOD thing. They aren't sure why, except that their leader (a shrub....no, sorry - a bush) told them it was a good thing. An honorable thing. A necessary thing. Someday George is going to say (privately, of course), "Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time." Unfortunately, a lot of blood will have been shed by then. American blood. In the name of protecting us from something that was never a threat to begin with. How sad.

Yeah, and you better be barefoot and pregnant, too.

She evidently deleted several posts. I hate it when people do that and then someone replies to a post that is no longer there. It confuses the hell out of me. But just for the record, I want to say that everyone (including the people with whom I disagree) is entitled to post their opinion, their musings, their jokes or pics - anything they want and as often as they like. Just keep it civil, that's all the list owner asks.
-
May I point out that no one on this board has done more name-calling, or exhibited more rude behavior, than your friend 396. And if you think his posts are "eloquent", golly gee.....the rest of us must appear absolutely brillant by comparison.
-
You are right, Leatha, and since what's-his-name started the thread, I am going to leave it to him. My tolerance towards others speaks for itself, and his does, too.
-
If you are saying that Liberals are to blame for the increase in gas prices, you are the one who is "obsurd". And by the way, do us all a favor and download the Spell Check. It would make your posts a lot easier to read.

This supports my original statement, that we have 27,000 troops in Afghanistan. Aren't you supposed to be proving up your own arguments, instead of mine?
-
First of all, I am not trying to trap you into anything. Nor have I accused you of bashing or name-calling. Secondly, I did not call Courtney Love any names. But nevertheless, if she shows up here for support, I promise to apologize to her for making light of her vomit issues with the band. Now....shall we talk about some of the bashing you've done? Can we start with former President Bill Clinton? Or his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton? From there, let us work our way backwards to your posts vilifying gays and Lesbians. Then we can compare scores, and we'll see who has made more nasty, hateful, non-Christian remarks here - you or me. Don't be calling the pot black, Mr. Kettle.
-
I will be waiting patiently for your retraction, 396. I'm sure it will be forthcoming, just like the one where you owned up to saying we had "cleaned up" Afghanistan.
-
I need to get out more????????? U.S. Forces in Afghanistan JoAnne O’Bryant and Michael Waterhouse Information Research Specialists Knowledge Services Group Summary As interest in troop level deployments continue, recently, President Bush announced in a February 15, 2007 speech, the administration’s plans for an increase in U.S. forces in Afghanistan, including a planned gradual increase of 3,200 U.S. troops on the ground in the coming several months. The total troop deployment in this region is expected to reach 70,000 by 2008.

Bill Clinton was not responsible for the morals of anyone's children except his own. But while you are wielding that brush, let us not forget all the Republican lapses in morality which occurred between 1865 and the present. By your logic, they ruined plenty of young people, too.
-
Well....shame on us, then, for propping up his government. In February 1982 the State Department removed Iraq from its list of states that supported international terrorism. And in 1984 we restored formal relations with Iraq (and SH).
