We don't actually get to vote....it's a bill already before Congress. But how about if they exclude from prosecution any ordained minister who preaches against homosexuality from the pulpit....would you be in favor of it then?

I can't believe no one has posted about this yet. What's with you guys... Deputy Secretary of State Randall L. Tobias submitted his resignation Friday, one day after confirming to ABC News that he had been a customer of a Washington, D.C. escort service whose owner has been charged by federal prosecutors with running a prostitution operation. Tobias, 65, director of U.S. Foreign Assistance and administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), had previously served as the ambassador for the President's Emergency Fund for AIDS Relief. A State Department press release late Friday afternoon said only he was leaving for "personal reasons." On Thursday, Tobias told ABC News he had several times called the "Pamela Martin and Associates" escort service "to have gals come over to the condo to give me a massage." Tobias, who is married, said there had been "no sex," and that recently he had been using another service "with Central Americans" to provide massages. Tobias' private cell number was among thousands of numbers listed in the telephone records provided to ABC News by Jeane Palfrey, the woman dubbed the "D.C. Madam," who is facing the federal charges. In an interview to be broadcast on "20/20" next Friday, Palfrey says she intends to call Tobias and a number of her other prominent D.C. clients to testify at her trial. As the Bush administration's so-called "AIDS czar," Tobias was criticized by some for emphasizing faithfulness and abstinence over condom use to prevent the spread of AIDS. In a 2004 interview, Tobias explained his approach as "A and B and C. . . Abstinence works. 'Be faithful' works. Condoms work. They all have a role. But it's not a multiple choice, where there is only one answer." As a top official overseeing global AIDS funding to other countries, Tobias was responsible for enforcing a U.S. policy, enacted during the Bush administration, that requires recipients to swear they oppose prostitution and sex trafficking. USAID adopted a similar policy in 2004. At an April 18 speech, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice praised Tobias' work. "Randy Tobias has indeed had many roles in his life, but none more important than the roles he's played in government, where he has been someone who has been most involved in organizing America's compassion to the world."

Bless your heart, Maudie. I hope God will bless you with little ones very soon. I, too, had problems conceiving. I am insulin resistant and had PCOS. I adopted my first child and after fertility treatments, gave birth to my second. My third and fourth were all God's doing. I did not ask for them....LOL

Perhaps you should apologize first for your poor choice of words. Then we would, of course, forgive you and move forward. But to suggest that we need to "stop being offended" is just arrogant on your part. If you don't mind my honest opinion.

I get this a lot from my DD's in-laws, and to a lesser degree from my middle son's in-laws, too. I have even gotten it from a couple of moms of DGD's friends. In fact, I just had a DGD incident yesterday. Cheyenne spent the night with a GF I wasn't real comfortable with in the first place (She's 14 and her mom let her get her tongue pierced; the first time I met the stepdad he was mad at the girl and told her to "get your ass in the f&^%#$@ house." Call me old fashioned, but things like that do not make me think you are going to take really good care of my beloved granddaughter.) Nevertheless, I let her spend the night, with the understanding that if anything went wrong, she was never to ask again. Things went VERY wrong. Cheyenne called me, crying, the next day (about noon). The stepdad (under the influence) had hit the girl in the face, had a huge screaming fight with the mom, destroyed the kitchen, and stormed off. The mom and her kids were packing up to leave. Of course, these weirdos eventually kissed and made up, the mom moved herself and children back in with psycho stepdad, and now says that I think we are "better than" her family, "too good for" her family, etc. because I won't let Cheyenne spend the night with her daughter again. Stupid me....I thought I was the one due an apology. :target:

Trash, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. And this is in no way an attempt to promote the "boy love" site, or to argue Marjon's intentions. As you probably know, Marjon and I have our own issues, but I will defend forever his right to say (post) whatever he chooses, as long as he stays within the LBT rules. I say that links to porn sites would be fine, as long as there are no graphics, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose of porn, don't you think? The BL site was a verbal outrage - no pics of "seductive" young boys (thank God). And while we are on the subject, does anyone have a comment on kiddie porn in advertising? Fresh off of getting in trouble for producing a batch of racist t-shirts, Abercrombie decided to get into a less controversial business: kiddie porn. It appears everyone’s favorite overpriced, gelled-up, frayed-bottom brand is into selling thongs — for children. The words “eye candy” and “wink wink” are printed on the front of the skimpy underwear. Now that’s hot. Who is Abercrombie’s head of design? Woody Allen? And from another source... Part "Barely Legal," part vapid teen magazine, the Christmas issue of the A&F Quarterly is unparalleled in the amount of naked frolicking it uses to sell clothing. And considering the demographic it is trying to reach, it's downright risqué. Besides the couples seemingly in the throes of sexual intercourse, there are subtler seductions. If you look very, very closely, somewhere around Page 100, you can find not-quite airbrushed male pubes on a well-cut frat guy, as he slides in the buff down a wet rock into crashing waves. It's beyond anything our parents saw in Playboy. "It's very healthy to be free and be honest about it," says Sam Shahid, an A&F board member, and head of Shahid & Co. in New York, the firm that designs the racy ad campaigns. The cover of the Christmas issue promises "280 pages of moose, ice hockey, chivalry, group sex & more." There wasn't a whole lot of ice hockey or chivalry, unless, by "ice hockey" they mean bare asses, and by "chivalry" they mean nipples. One layout is of four giggling topless coeds, tanned and blond, sprawled across a plaid blanket in the woods, pulling down the boxer shorts of a freshly scrubbed muscular guy, with a Cheshire cat grin revealing Tom Cruise-like pearly whites. And his ass. Then there's a completely naked couple, making out, or having sex, on wet rocks. There's Tom Cruise-guy again, naked by the fireplace, but for a strategically placed gift with a bow. And look! Two naked men (can 18-year-olds be called men?) in the river, standing barely far enough away from each other not to be construed as gay -- though that's how I construed it. "There's no such thing as being too sexy," Shahid says. "You're speaking to the kids. Everybody talks about sex all the time." He says none of the sexual content in the catalog is meant to shock -- though this comes from the same man who gave us the borderline kiddie porn ads for Calvin Klein years ago. If you allow your kids to wear clothing from Abercrombie, you are buying into this. I did not post pics from the Abercrombie catalog, BTW, because I consider them extremely inappropriate. But you can Google and see for yourself.

My DIL's dad was forced into medical retirement, so he has lots of time on his hands. Plus, he lives with his 90 year old mother. They live for infomercials. He bought something called a "Flavor Wave" and loved it so much, he ordered a second one....just in case they stop selling the things.

A recent Consumer Report digest rated vacuums and Dyson didn't do that well. Neither did my Oreck (number 9). If anyone wants the list, I will post it. Rainbow, BTW, was dead last - and the most expensive.

I am so glad you mentioned this....another purchase I have been pondering. Is the "memory foam" worth the money? Does it pack down at all?
-
Can't edit.....it's still broken. I sure wish they would get that thing fixed, though!

Tommy.... Did you think I was asking if you were a lover of young boys? Lord help us....I would NEVER insinuate such a thing! I promise!

Thanks, Laurend.....some really helpful household tips can be found there, as in: When attempting a self-circumcision do not use dry ice to numb the area... and when the dry ice sticks to the... a.... area, do not attempt to remove the ice with boiling water.

Please tell me what you found insulting, as that certainly was not my intention. I was only asking if you agreed with the side that felt Marjon had trivialized molestation by his comparison with forced prayer, or did you think we were overly sensitive to take offense.

Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?

This is your brain... This is your brain on bread...Ummmmm, no thanks. -
Correct. Our UHC is thru American Airlines, which is actually self-insured. UHC merely administers the plan for AA.

I remember liking rabbit when I was a kid. I've eaten squirrel, too but wasn't impressed. I don't like venison, except venison jerky, which is awesome. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to trying new food. -

Most unusual thing I've ever eaten was alligator tail. Not my favorite thing. -
My apologies, Ms. Dad. Sometimes the order that the posts fall in, especially when there is no reference to a specific post, can create confusion. (Admitedly, I am easily confused some days.) And you, of course, are entitled to point it out when you feel someone has overstepped the line, whether it's me or someone else.

I was simply noting, Tommy, that 100% of the posters who have expressed those sentiments ("silly", "need to chill" etc) were men. That is NOT the same as saying 100% of the men on this board share those opinions. Most men are repulsed by child molesters, I believe - including the men on this forum. The issue is not whether men abhor child molestation or not. The issue is whether the post comparing the offensiveness of forced prayer in school to that of pedophilia was appropriate hyperbole, or if it minimized the horrible, lifelong trauma and pain that victims of child sexual abuse almost invariably suffer. So....now that you've weighed in, Tommy, which team are YOU on?
