  1. Tanning Towels...they're great. You just wipe them on and you get a subtle tan in just a few minutes. No orange spots. They come in a box and are individually wrapped. Use daily for a few days prior if you want to build up a deeper tan, or just the day of for a little "glow". Very natural looking results.
  2. I voted for Thanksgiving. All the family and togetherness of Christmass without the stress of shopping & decorating.

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

As long as the marriages involve consenting adults, why would anyone care how many wives a man has? My DH says that two would be about 1 1/2 too many....LOL

Weird Pic - Is That My Port?!

I don't think it's your port, either. But I'm glad to know that you didn't fall off the end of the earth (or the Great Wall). Welcome back!
  5. Maybe....but Wheetsin doesn't strike me as the biggest C&W fan on board. Actually, BRC is kind of cute...or at least I think so. And I even thought the song was okay. It sure beats some of that rappy dap sh___ I've heard. I'll take a chorus of "Achy Breaky Heart" any day over "I Want To F&$# You". What kind of people let their kids listen to stuff like that? That's not music....it's propaganda for hoodlums and street corner punks.
  6. Billy Ray Cyrus....Achy Breaky Heart
  7. That's her stomach, right? That CANNOT be her hoo-hoo....can it? I mean...not to be crude or anything, but that looks dangerous to me. What if a small child fell into her lap? Couldn't it get lost like, forever?

    Another New Skin

I actually prefer the ads on the left side. Maybe I'm right-brained....who knows. Certainly not in my "right" mind, though.....LOL Who's the girl at the top? I hope she has a Lap Band. I deplore the use of ringers in weight loss forums (or ads). Nice skin, BTW, Alex...
  9. Who says this web site is a wast of time? Look at the stuff we learn on here. Very diversified.

Many, many denominations ordain only men. And just straight men, at that.

I have absolutely no idea what this means, but by all means, feel free to do them for me. Pray for me. Baptize me in absentia (although I've already been baptized), or posthumously. It's like chicken Soup....it can't hurt and maybe it will actually help.

Spellcheck is great but it can't fix everything. I belong to a couple of dog forums and every time I see "my dog is pure bread", I wish I could make a little doggy sculpture out of whole wheat, take a picture of it, and post it for those morons....with a note - "Now THIS is a pure bread dog".

I am very offended by the B**love post

The only man I have anger issues with is dead (thankfully). It was the uncle who fondled me when I was a child, about 10 years old. I have REAL anger issues toward that SOB, I assure you.

Of course....although it isn't true that I believe most men are "pigs". I love men. I married three of them and gave birth to three more (actually not....one of those is adopted). It's my friend Alan who keeps telling me that men are pigs. Maybe I thought, coming from a man, that it would be less offensive. Or maybe it's the pigs who should take exception. I don't know. At any rate, if you were truly "very offended" by my post, which compared a philandering husband who kicked his ailing wife to the curb after 40+ years of marriage so he could screw the care-giver to a pig, then please accept my deepest apologies.

Fundamentalist Christians, on the average, tend to have less education, which probably accounts for the poor spelling. It does not mean they aren't as smart as anyone else. Let us not forget Al Gore and the famous "potato" incident.

    Army squeezes soldier blogging

Lap Dancer... I totally understand about sensitive material that is "classified". My son works for Haliburton and has (twice) worked with the military in Iraq, with a "top security" clearance. When he was sent from one base to another, he could tell me he was going and approximately for how long, but not where, etc. I appreciated his discretion more than the military did because I didn't want the helicopter he was riding in to be shot down! He could e mail me and phone me, but IMs were stopped about half-way thru his first deployment. I'm going to ask him if the new rules apply to civilians on base, as well. But the new rules go far beyond that. A soldier can no longer e mail his mom without getting the message approved first. He cannot participate in online forums. Here are the official rules... g. Consult with their immediate supervisor and their OPSEC Officer for an OPSEC review prior to publishing or posting information in a public forum. (1) This includes, but is not limited to letters, resumes, articles for publication, electronic mail (e-mail), Web site postings, web log (blog) postings, discussion in Internet information forums, discussion in Internet message boards or other forms of dissemination or documentation. This will make it almost impossible for soldiers to communicate electronically with their loved ones back home, and will drastically slow down their snail mail, packages, etc. Far better, I think, to stress to them that chit chat is fine but logistics of the war are not. Most of them already know that, but a refresher course never hurts, I guess.

You're right....people can't help the way they feel. If he is almost as offended by pedophilia as by prayer in school, then that's the way he feels. But it was an insensitive comparison. Just as it would be insensitive of me to say that I find religious discrimination almost as offensive as slavery. The two things are WORLDS apart. There is no reasonable comparison to be drawn, unless you are an avowed racist. The fact that people have a right to express themselves in no way relieves them of basic social responsibilities. I bash George Bush all the time. But there is a line I would not cross. I would not say, for example, that the torture of Iraqi prisoners was almost as evil as 9/11. Same thing goes for child molestation, IMHO. It is not a suitable topic for jokes or flippant, off-the-cuff hyperbole, just as the holocaust would not be. I had my say. I stated that I was offended by Marjon's comparison and that I felt he owed the victims of child molestation who read his words and were offended by them an apology. He responded, basically, that he owed us nothing. That he could say whatever he liked, within the rules of LBT. And so he can. That may make him correct, but it doesn't make him right. And there is a difference.

I don't think it's an issue of national concern at all. I think it is an attempt by the Executive office to censor information from the "grunts" to the public, lest we learn that not all servicemen/women are delighted to be engaged in an unwinnable war. I think this falls into the same category as the prohibition that said journalists could not take photos of flag-draped coffins coming back from Iraq. It's bad PR for Bush.

    Lesson learned. Again.

I am what you might call a student by proxy. I have a DIL who works full time as a teacher's aid, has 2 kids, and tries to help out at church, the PTA, and her daughter's Girl Scout group. She is trying to finish her degree plan in Special Ed (not everything would transfer from the Assoc Degree she earned in Ohio). So I, the English major MIL, do her research papers for her. I e mail them to her and she, in turn, submits them electronically. Last month I did a 16 slide PP presentation on censorship. It was due at 6 PM last night. I e mailed it to Wendy two weeks ago. Guess when she sat down to submit it? Yep....last night. Guess who had severe storms and major power outages (for about 8 hours)? Right again....we did. Fortunately for her the instructor took pity on everyone and extended the deadline to Friday, but I would have been really pissed at her, I think, if after all my effort, she screwed up my A paper because she "didn't have time" to log in and push the stupid "submit" button.

    The Saga of Dannielynn...

I see by the ever-vigilant ET show that Larry Burkhead has left the Drahamas and returned to his old Kentucky home with his daughter by Anna Nicole Smith. Thank goodness. I only hope that his man has enough sense to keep her there, so she will at least have a fighting chance for a normal childhood. He seems like a sincerely loving parent and a nice guy. But time will tell. If he tries to turn this little girl into a cash cow, I hope the bad Karma comes back on him 10,000 fold. Originally, ANS had named the child Hannah Rose. Then her son died and she was driven by grief and loss to remember him via her newborn. I think if I were Burkhead, I would change it back. Maybe when she Googles "Hannah Rose Burkhead" someday it won't be so devistating.

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

My first husband's mother was a pistol. She raised him Southern Baptist, because that's what she was raised. But he married me and joined the Catholic church. She got up and walked out of her own church in the middle of her minister's sermon because he said Catholic's were going to hell. Now that her son was one of "them", it was suddenly personal to her. Interesting how our perspectives change, isn't it?

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!

I certainly don't understand all the tenants of the Mormon church. I think the whole underwear thing is a little strange, but hey....I'm Catholic and lots of people don't "get" us, either. We get blasted a lot for baptizing babies, but so do Presbyterians, Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, and others, but they NEVER seem to get flack over that. The thing that REALLY pisses me of, though, is when someone states with utter and complete "authority" that "Catholics worship statues" (or the Virgin Mary). I'm all for allowing each person to follow his/her own path in peace and harmony.

    Black Ministers vs Gay Rights...

My own feeling is that anti-hate laws, by definition, should extend their protection to all persecuted minorities. It's not okay to act on one's hatred for blacks....or gays...or Muslims, or anyone else.

    Can't Live Without It...

I understand completely. I feel the same way about my Oreck, although I have not tried all the others in the CR study. I'm glad you mentioned price, because I forgot to. The number one rated vacuum (Hoover Wind Tunnel Self Propelled Ultra) cost just $250, and number two was a mere $140, while my beloved Oreck retails for $700. That was sticker shock, I don't mind telling you.
