@bag4ahealthierme. I am going through IU as well. My surgeon is Dr. Evanson. He's a great Dr. and highly skilled.

Congrats BryJohn!!!

The pre-op diets typically depends on your insurance and the bariatric center. Some Drs require u loose prior to surgery, some dont. I'm lucky mine didn't. However, my insurance requires I wait 6 months for NUT and counseling, then I can apply for surgery to insurance.

Hi cyber mom, Welcome!! Who's your Dr.?
-
Cacucci did my friends RNY 8 years ago. She's a good Dr., but she's not known for her bedside manner. I don't know about her office staff.
-
Congrats BryJohn!!!! I look forward, eagerly, of hearing wonderful things!!!

That's wonderful news, congratulations!!!!!

I was originally told I had to wait 3 mos, but then was told its actually 6 mos. I was crushed, but yup relatively short in.comparison.

Basically, I've been researching for 8 years and I personally work with so many Drs that I listen to their feedback as well. I was actually set on someone else and he was my 2nd choice until I went to the meeting and he was the Dr that spoke. He just clicked with me. You should b able to pick your own Dr no matter which type of insurance you have. You may have to.go to a specific practice, but a practice usually has more than 1 Dr. As far as I'm aware all of the Indpls. hospitals would take it, but you'll have to make sure when you get approved and you may or may not be subject to a longer waiting period, again depends on your plans criteria.

I'm seeing Dr. Evanson and he's great. He is at IU and St. Vincent both. I get along with him well and he's pretty passionate about weight loss surgery and his patients. He also used to be a trauma surgeon, so that's a plus for me.

Yrs, I have insurance, but I'm getting such a run around I asked for a quote from all 3 hospitals in my area and that was my range. If I felt better bout it, I'd go to Mexico.

Yea, I'm having enough problems with them, that I wouldn't even chance it to ask, LOL!

I was quoted between $28-45k at IU this week. Good Lord!!

Has anyone else had constent problems with IU Health in Indianapolis? I'm just trying to get my insurance straight and I am getting told so many things by insurance, the Dr.s office and the pre-auth dept. Almost to the point I don't think they want me to have surgery. It's so discouraging when the espouse such great results. Anyone else have road blocks like this?

BryJohn, did Dr. Inman take long to get your tests set up and everything going when you met the first time? The Dr is great, his staff not so much.

I see Dr. Evanson on 3/22 for further info and get started on his diet routine for 3 months I think. I m hoping if all goes well, I'll be sleeved early July. Probably a little soon, but a possibility.
