Do you still get hungry?
jilliemay replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feedyoureye, thank you for the excellent response to my long rant! It really helped. I am still up that .7, but i agree with what you said - i've dropped a lot quickly & i need to give my body time to catch up. Good tip on the water too. I never thought about it that way. Thanks for taking the time to respond! Happy Easter!!! -
Do you still get hungry?
jilliemay replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jo Jo, I feel the same way! I am hungry a lot. I had surgery on 3/13/13. I'm back to work today and it's helpful to have the distraction of work, but right now my stomach is so empty and I can't wait to get home and feed it! (By the way, what is "ppi?" Everybody mentions it, but I don't know what it means and its' driving me crazy!). Anyway, I DO notice that if I eat something more solid, like my refried Beans, I am satisfied. I don't feel full or stuffed, but I can eat and no longer feel hunger for about two hours. But just today I was about to call the doctor and ask him if he really did do this procedure or not! I was thinking just like you're thinking. Another thing - I can drink tons of Water at a time. I don't need to sip. Nothing happens. Last night, I chugged to the count of 8 swallows and I stopped and waited for something to happen, but nothing did. Is that even normal?! But I am down almost 20 pounds in a little over two weeks. Yesterday I ate too much and gained .7 of a pound back. I almost went berserk this morning, but I have calmed myself down this afternoon. I just want to know that I'm not alone, and I want to know that this will work. If I spent all the money (paid cash) and put myself through all that for nothing, I will just go insane!!! -

Kodiesmom, i felt the same way at first. I thought id never get that pukey isopure shake down after surgery, but all i did was add some blueberry crystal light & i couldnt believe the improvement. It went from yuck to almost yummy. Recently i bight the vanilla whey powder from costco. Today i opened it &added half if a scoopful to non-fat Greek yogurt & voila! It was like eating cheesecake! Keep trying. You'll find something that works for your tastebuds. -

You guys are right. I need to step down off the scale! It was so exciting a few days ago, watching the numbers drop. But not now. And i also agree about having a messed up metabolism. Maybe over time it will finally right itself with all i'm doing. Thanks! -

You made my day, Sunshine! I need to take my measurements! I think the doctor did before surgery. I go see him tomorrow. Anyway, i appreciate your reply - i just wanted to feel like i was normal. I'm feeling better now & i will try to think positive! Those numbers on the scale are powerful little creatures, eh?! And like someone just said to me, "its a journey, not a marathon." Thanks guys! -

Traycrow, good for you! Thats a fantastic weight loss. You have lost twice as much as i have. I didnt mean to sound negative - i was just looking for advice or possibly encouragement from someone who might be having similar problems as mine. It's scary to think i did all this for 14 pounds! :-0. I too have followed the rules and i would like to lose 120 to 130 pounds. I was just hoping it would fall off in the very beginning. It started that way, but stopped 2 days ago. I'm holding my breath, hoping & praying for a big drop tomorrow...and was just posting my emotions because i thought someone would be supportive in this forum. We're all going thru the same surgery. -

I'm sympathetic! Day two that the scale hasn't budged. Hmm. I'm following this diet perfectly too! It's making me crazy! And I could tell when I woke up that I hadn't lost anything. I don't feel hungry either. Could i be eating (drinking) too much? Maybe my system dropped weight so quickly that it has to like re-boot or something?! I'll keep at it. I'm just hoping that my body will lose weight on 700 - 800. calories instead of 300 - 400. (Gulp!) -

Sunshine, one of the major things that I noticed is that i don't swell/retain water since the surgery! It's amazing! I used to be puffy & if i wore socks, i'd have the imprint on my shins for hours after taking them off. After surgery, that went away completely! Regarding the blood thinners, i now know why he canceled them for me - i'm allergic to beef & the heparin has beef in it. Who knew! To all, i was sleeved on 3/13 & i am feeling good. I lost 7 pounds on my week of pre-op & i have lost another 7.5 since then. I feel that that is pretty good for me as i tend to be a slow loser...but then i read about people who have lost more than me in that timeframe & they are disappointed & think their weight loss is too slow, which really bums me out & does a number on my head!!! I know we are all different. I just start to panic & worry that i wont lose anymore weight! I'm having a mini meltdown today about that. Today is the first day that the scale didn't go down!! Other than that, everything is good. -

So saddened & shocked to hear about lifesavermt! Omg, that's depressing. My heart & prayers go out to the family. I was sleeved on 3/13. They were supposed to send me home on a week of blood thinner injections, but the dr canceled them. I dont know why. Im just taking an aspirin a day. I guess we never know when its our time...but gosh, it just doesn't seem fair. -

Any March Sleevers?
jilliemay replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had dry heaves a few times in the hospital, Lain. I was sleeved on wednesday. I came home & got very nauseous. Doc called me in some zofran & that helped a lot. I wouldn't worry about dehydration. I told the doc i was urinating a LOT, but i hadn't drank that much. He said they pretty much saturated me with liquids during surgery. They know the first few days will be difficult getting liquids down. As for constipation, i have not had that problem at all. I do feel hungry, which surprised me. I didn't think i'd feel hunger, but dic says i haven't ate in 3 days, so that makes sense. -

You guys are my lifeline right now. Nausea was so bad so i stopped pain meds. Ouch. I get waves of pain in my chest & shoulders. I came home yesterday, but couldnt eat anything. This morning, ive mixed an isopure powder shake & have had a few sips. Not sure if thats going to stay down. I hope so. Also have a slight fever - it hovers between 99 & 99.4. I think i need to take my pain but so afraid of the bad nausea. I will call doctor & ask for the zofram. Thanks for your replies! Please tell me that its going to get better. lol -

Thanks newat52 & traycrow! Ill be praying for your surgery on thursday, tray & for everyone on here who's going thru this. Im still scared. I do pray & my faith is strong, but i still get the fear bug now & again. In the bible, God says "be not afraid" 365 times. He knew we 'd need to hear it repeatedly! . I know we'll all be fine. I will be so happy when I've got one week under my belt like newat52. Will try to post tomorrow after surgery....or maybe the next day. :-0 -

I'm going in at 7:15 an tomorrow & I'm having panic attacks. Had to take 2 xanax last night. All this anticipation has taken a toll on me. I sure hope i can handle it afterward. Im a bit excited too, but i cant seem to shake the nerves & the "what-if's.". :--0 -
Any March Sleevers?

I am enjoying reading all these messages, especially those who were recently sleeved. It helps me to hear the details and various opinions of what post-op feels like. Does anyone actually feel hunger? Or is it just emotional cravings? Welcome back to all & i'm still laughing about Leo's sexy body comment! I am on pre-op diet now. Lost 3.5 pds in 2 days, which amazes me. Surgery is 3/13. I am a bit scared. Not so much about what could go wrong, or the pain. I'm scared about the unknown. I don't know what it will feel like to try to swallow anything. Will it hurt? I know i will miss chugging cold water when I'm thirsty. Will there ever be a day when we can swallow more than a sip? Okay, this is long enough. You are all in my prayers. -
