    Who to tell?

I've told no one, and I am going to keep it that way. It worries family & friends. And people can be mean, intentionally & unintentionally. Do what is best for you! Good luck!

    Consequences of no protein

Goldygirl - I was just relaying what my doctor & nut told me and what I have learned from this site...I even had to sign a bunch of forms about the hair loss when I had surgery...I was told it could start around the 3/4 month mark and end at the 9/12 month mark..but could happen, and more than likely would happen, anytime during the first 18 months...every doctor & nut are different and tell us different things...you are very lucky!! Mine just started recently...it is heartbreaking, but I have never heard anything about going bald...so I just pray to make it through.

    What makes you smile?

Mobility better, off meds, scale going down, wearing smaller clothes..
  12. Yep, I have kept it a secret...no family, no friends, no coworkers...no one, but my drs know about my wls. My health is my business. I didn't want to worry anyone nor did I want anyone to know I had it to be candid. I have been very successful with WW in the past, so everyone thinks I am doing it for the gazillionith time with WW & the gym (which I truly do both every week!)
  13. I told no one, either. Everyone thinks I am going WW & the gym for the gazillionith time. I think my health is my business..I didn't want to worry family or friends...and I just honestly don't want anyone to know I had wls. You will get lots of feedback saying to be loud and proud about it...but the way I look at it..that's not the best route for everyone in this journey. Do what is best for you. Best of luck to you!
  14. Good thread!!! 1. My mobility is better (# 1 reason for my surgery was keeping it!) 2. Off my fluid pills, high blood pressure pills and anti-depressants 3. Fitting into smaller sizes 4. 78 lbs gone 5. I finally realize after dieting all my life... Mr. Scale is just another @$$hole in my life...and what he has to say really doesn't matter at then end of the day - because I am an awesome person regardless of what I weigh!

    Consequences of no protein

I am 4 months out...I have the same problem because I detest the shakes...there are consequences...you won't lose as much or as quickly. You will not feel as well or have as much energy. You will lose hair regardless if you get the protein or not. I am trying to get more in by food, but I just can't eat a lot, so it is a struggle. Just hang in there & keep trying. Best of luck to you!

    The goal weight number

My dr just asked me where I would like to be prior to surgery & told me that I could get to whatever weight I desired with wls. In high school, at 5'10" I weighed 150-157 lbs (unfortunately, I never enjoyed it or appreciated it...I thought I had to weigh 120-125 lbs!), ...now 20 yrs later, even though I have no children, I am built very differently...the smallest I have gotten to in the past 20 yrs from time to time was 199...so I took 20 more lbs off of that...and came up with 175. I think if/when I do get to 175 - I will shoot for 165. I want to be a size 14. I want to shop on the 'other side' of stores, again. I am much more accepting of my curves & want to keep them now unlike in my early years. So, I will enjoy it & appreciate it when I get to my goal weight this time around. Good luck to all of us getting there!!
  20. I agree with many of the comments above. I advise going back to the basics: water, walking, protein. You may need to totally cut out all sweets for a long time til you can have them in moderation & you may be somebody who can't have them. I know I am. (I know it is easier said than done, but there's a lot of sugar free things out there now!) I think you need to go see your dr, your nut, and a counselor to come up with a game plan. Don't worry about the past...don't look in the rearview mirror...just the windshield! I wish you all the best.
