My favorite fast food option is Chick Fila. I get their 4 count and sometimes 6 count grilled nugget kids meal. I get a fruit cup with it and the diet lemonade. I always wait till I'm home and mix the lemonade with water because it's so tart but it's yummy! I never finish the fruit cup. It's high in protein, very low in carbs and low in calories. It's an excellent choice for a meal for anyone wanting to lose weight. I also get the grilled cool wrap which is wrapped in a flax seed wrap. I tear most of the wrap away and eat it. It's way more than I can eat in one setting and so good for you. I haven't stopped eating out because We are a busy family. I just make wiser choices! The sleeve is an awesome tool to lose weight but some look at it like a ball and chain!

Dealing with dinner on vacation
Diane_65 replied to Shoota's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We just order a main dish and I may order a side salad or something to go with and I take a small portion of my husbands protein. It works well for us, We both enjoy a great meal and the price is much better these days! -
Yogurt is deceiving sometimes... be careful with sugars and carbs in yogurts. I only eat Dannon light and Fit yogurts or Carb Masters from Kroger. I have never had the dumping syndrome and am almost 4 months out. I like the sugar free fudgecicles too but only eat 1 a day at most. Another thing... I don't weigh at home at all. I wait to see the numbers at my Dr. visits. I have read so many that were discouraged due to increases or stalls. I won't weigh again till August. If I go through a stall, I won't even know it! LOL .............. Hang in there... each day gets easier and the journey is amazing!

Flavorless protein powder,
Diane_65 replied to thedivinemsQ's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I add a pack of procel protein supplements to my shakes. It adds 5 grams of protein and is tasteless. I did try mixing it in yogurt but it makes the consistancy a bit weird for me. -
What is your favorite product?
Diane_65 replied to jessica bowling's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
BE CAREFUL of the sugar free Klondike bars... They have 160 calories and are 40% saturated fat. A better choice for a cool treat is the Fudgecicles No Sugar Added at 40 calories and virtually no fat. just a little fyi.... sometimes the NO SUGAR ADDED is just a ploy to get you to buy something that is not good for you! -
What protein shake Ur taking? Any good ones
Diane_65 replied to prdulce's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can get the Syntrax Nectar Drinks at Amazon.com and the shipping is free. I have compared prices and that's by far the cheapest when you factor in shipping! -
I only weigh at my Dr. visits. I like big numbers so I don't even own a set of scales.

What protein shake Ur taking? Any good ones
Diane_65 replied to prdulce's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorites are Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel and Strawberry Kiwi. Mixed with 10 oz water and then add ice. They are both refreshing. I don't recommend the Grape Nectar. -
What are your "go-to" foods?
Diane_65 replied to dma2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I boil several eggs at a time. They are a great source of protein and keep well in the fridge. I use them in tuna salad and whole with salt and pepper. I also keep Dannon light and fit yogurt in the fridge. I always have jell-o sugar free puddings on hand for times when I want a treat! LOL I keep a couple of packs of Gortons Tilapia in the fridge. The portions are just right for me. I heat them up in a skillet and when I remove it, I pour a can of french style green beans in the pan to warm them up. The seasonings from the Tilapia are actually quite tasty! My teenage daughter loves that meal also! ohhh and I always have campbells soup at hand in my pantry for those meals that I don't feel like preparing! They are good tasting and filling and super easy with only 70 calories per can. -

3 months post op-what is everyone eating?
Diane_65 replied to yologirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm almost 3 months out. I have a nectar fuzzy navel protein drink when I first wake up. I try to eat a protein rich breakfast (maybe a 1 egg omelet, 1/2 slice 2% cheese and some mushrooms and a slice of ham diced). For lunch I try to eat something high in protein, such as tuna or chicken salad made with low fat mayo. For dinner, I have sauteed veggies and chicken or fish normally. And a protein drink afterwards. .... I am averaging around 600 calories. I need to up that but it's not as easy as I once thought. I'm loosing at a very steady pace and excercizing daily. I log everything on MyFitnessPal which seems to keep me accountable. ................ best of luck! DRINK DRINK DRINK and get your protein in!!! -
This has been the best decision I've ever made. The surgery was a breeze for me. No real pain to speak of. Nothing enough to even take pain meds. My recovery was quick and I have to remind myself to eat now! I think you are going to treasure your decision to have sleeve surgery! Welcome to this site. Support is essential! I have learned many things through the nice people at Verticalsleevetalk!

My Dr. told me to only do walking. Nothing strenuous at all till about 6 weeks post op. Anything that will make you strain or stretch your abs is kinda out till healing has taken place. Each Dr. is different, so I would consult them if I were you! Best of Luck on your surgery!!!!

Absolutely call your Dr..... the dry lips could be a sign of high blood sugar or dehydration. Either of which you should call your Dr. -
High Protein TASTY Smoothie Recipes, please!
Diane_65 replied to SqueakyWheel&Ethyl's topic in Purée (stage 2)
I don't like the "milky" protein shakes at all since surgery. My go to is Nectar Kiwi Strawberry or Fuzzy Navel. mixed with water with lots of ice. I just toss those in a chug bottle and it's not bad at all. I don't get the protein aftertaste like I did with many of the shakes. ........... BEST OF LUCK! -
I bought a stationary bike and at first I rode for 5 minutes and it was all I could do... today I can easily ride 30 minutes on a high resistance. My knees are shot so walking isn't easy. I can say that my walking has improved tremendously. I weighed at the Dr. this week and am down to 378. Most would cringe at that, I am thrilled to be on this side of 400 and going down! Sleeve Surgery is the best thing I have done for myself! I feel so much better!!!
-
My top weight was 472. I lost 50 lbs prior to surgery and have lost 43 since surgery which was March 8th. I have a long way to go, but already feel so much better! My Dr. suggested the sleeve surgery!
-
I like the NECTAR clear drinks. I have strawberry kiwi, fuzzy navel and the grape. Grape is my least favorite. I mix with 10 oz water, 1/2 packet of crystal light and lots of ice. I enjoy them for 23 grams of protein each.
-
Many have said that Biotin increases their appetites. I don't take it for that reason. I am 2 months out and haven't lost any hair as of yet!
-
I was able to swallow pills right away. The blessing is I was taking 13 maintenance drugs prior to surgery and now take NONE! I take chewable multivitamins, a vitamin D supplement and a baby aspirin.
-
Red meat is quite difficult on your new sleeve. I eat mostly fish (tilapia) and chicken. 97% lean sandwich meat is acceptable too. Tuna is perfect for you at this point as well and it's full of protein which We all need! Good luck on your journey!
-
I take the Vitafusion multi-vites gummies. My NUT says as long as my blood work looks good that's fine! It's working good for me. I would be in a bad way if I had to consume those chalking icky vitamins! LOL

6 weeks post-op ... what did YOU eat?
Diane_65 replied to LonghornNiner's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
As far as oranges, it's the membranes that are rough on you. You can trim those out if you want. I find mandarin oranges packed in water are best for my orange needs! LOL I eat Campbells soup at hand anytime I'm in a hurry. I love the Gortons Signature grilled tilapia. I grill it in a pan and after I remove them, I warm a can of whole baby carrots or french style green beans in the same pan. Takes me less than 10 minutes to prepare and even my kids enjoy this meal. I eat chicken, tuna and eggs alot also. I normally grill a chicken breast and eat half and cut the other half up and mix with chopped sugar free bread and butter pickle, low fat mayo and a hard boiled egg. One chicken breast will yield 3 meals for me. Most salsas are good. I like fresh salsa on grilled chicken. Ham and cheese rollups are a staple for me. I use 97% fat free ham and 2% Cheese. I also spread fat free cream cheese on ham and roll it up and eat with sweet bread and butter pickles. I avoid all white carbs and use MyFitnesspal to keep track of my nutrients. I also drink 2 protein drinks a day. Nectar fuzzy navel or strawberry kiwi are my favorites mixed with crystal light and lots of ice. I hope this helps. .. -
I'm 2 months out and haven't lost a bit. I think the key is making sure you get all of the protein recommended. Those that have lost hair that I've talked to said they couldn't stomach protein. It's essential!
