Hi Mol, Haven't been on since the last time I posted in Sept and din't leave a message then, just sort of looked thru the site. It is the middle of Oct. and as of today I have lost a total of 65 lbs and am 12 lbs from my goal weight of 128. I am seriously rethinking my weight goal though and think I might stop at 5 more lbs because everyone is saying that I am losing too much and don't look well. I am 5'2" and do hold weight well and at my age I am rethinking getting to 125lbs or 127 because that might be too much for me. 135 might be more realistic weight for me to be at and still look OK. I don't look fat by any means right now and I am at 140lbs. What do you think?

Hi Mol, I don't know where all the time has gone, but I have not been on in ages myself. Good news is that I went back for a fill in May and have lost about 14 lbs since then. Got to go on another vacation with 2 of my brothers and their wives and my sister and her husband. We went to Gulf shores, Alabama and spent a week in a beach house and it was fabulous. Haven't been on a vacation in over 3 years and get to go twice this year allready! Back to the subject of lap band, I had my surgery on July 31, 2008 and have lost a total of 47 lbs. and want to lose 30 more. Wish I could do that by Christmas. Just have to try harder. You hang in there and just keep trying. Hope to talk soon, Jean

Hi Mol, Just back from vacation in Florida and returned toi cold and dreary weather but next weeksw forcast is looking great. Gained about 3 lbs from eating so good and back on track tomorrow. Have to wait abvout 6 weeksw for another fill to make ure my insurance is going to pay. Needed one a month ago but just have to wait and see. My dr charges $380.00 and then the facility fee is $450.00 per fill. Seems like a rip off to me but that is the way things work in th U.S. with insurance companies and DR.'s and such. My insurance paid for the surgery and I assumed thry were going to pay for the fill also. Just have to wait and see. I have not lost any weight for 3 months other than a few lbs I have played with going up and then down. I am starting to wonder if this was the right thing for me to do? JenhaY

Hi Mol, Been very busy taking care of my grandaughter for a whole week and am exhausted. She is 1 year old and was sick and we even spent 3 days in the hospital with her. She and her mom live 3 hrs away from us and her mom goes to college full time so I went and picked her up to care for her so her mom would not miss any school. I had forgotten how tiring it can be to take care of a sick child. The up side is I lost that last 4 lbs that I had put on over the holidays. I am leaving to fgo on vacation to Florida on march. 9 and am so looking forward to sunshine and temps in the mid 70's to 80 degrees. It has been a long winter and I am ready for SUNSHINE. Write when you can and if you are planning a trip to the states, let me know. OK. will try and wite back soon myself. Jenhay

Hi Jenhay, you're having a tough time at the moment! We're in the middle of a snow storm here and haven't seen snow for 3 years and even then it was only very light! It hasn't stopped snowing all day and supposed to be worse tomorrow, kids in their element though ..first time to see snow so it's just magical to see thier faces as they struggle to make a snowman!! Can't imagine them all grown up like your boys and dread the day they leave home but there's always a bright side!?? hopefully my husband and I can start travelling again! We all followed the election here too and were delighted Mr.Obama got in. Bush really did nothing to inspire . I've been to the States a couple of times but only New York. My husband has relatives in New York and Philidelphia. I would love to hire a car and take our time traveling around...maybe in a few years?! Would love to see some pictures will try to get organised and post some myself! Well hope the bad weather improves stay in touch when you can.Mol

Forgot to tell you that we just had the worst ice storm in Ky in a hundred yrs. I have not had electricity at my house for 6 days. Luckily we do have a generator which we are running 6 to 8 hrs a day to keep the fridge and freezer going and to heat the house. The whole family has been staying with me and my husband for 6 days and it looks like it might be for the next week or so. I hope and pray I make it thru it! Not used to having everyone here for that long of time. I have 3 of the most wonderful sons a mother could ask for, BUT, I have just adjusted to not having them live with me for the past 3 yrs. I had a very bad case of empty nest syndrome! Don't know when I will be able to post again but shoud sometime in the next 4 or 5 days. Stay in touch. I would like to have a friend in Ireland, Although I am not familiar enough to know which area you are from. Will research and look at a map. Maybe I can even e-mail you some pictures of where I live and of my family. Jenhay

Hi Mol, I am married with 3 sons age 35,28, and 24. The oldest is married with 2 children, the youngest just graduated with a masters degree in communication and has been dating his girlfriend for 4 yrs. She graduates with her degree in 4 months and maybe we will get to hear a wedding announcement! The 28 yr old is available and would love to live in Scotland or Ireland. He has been to both countries and would leave here in a heartbeat if he didn't have such a good job. The way our economy is looking he may get laid off and have the opportunity. George Bush really hurt the USA and it will take us a long time to recover. I am so Happy that Mr. Obama was elected our president. I had my band on July 31, 2008 and have lost a total of 35 lbs pre and post band. I really have had a slow go of it for the past 2 months though and really need to get things moving again. I would still like to lose 55 more lbs

Hi Jenhay, It is beautiful here ...most of the time! Would love a bit of sunshine though we've had the worst summers here over the last 2 years no sunshine! Our bones will be rubble if this keeps up! I live in wexford which is south East Ireland. I had my band fitted last Sept and had my second fill last month, feel satisfied with it at the moment. Doesn't stop me eating anything but fill quicker and stay full!! Have lost about 53lb so far but 26 of that was pre band!Really enjoying it at the moment starting to feel the benefit in my clothes etc. Still have about 60lb to go but feel i can do it now. What about you? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Kentucky other then what I seen on American Idol the other night!! I'm married and have twin boys aged 6 which keep me busy. ANyway better go and get organised for school tomorrow...keep in touch! Mol

Hi Mol, I decided to use my desk top cp instead of my lap top which seem to run slower and also to kick me off at the most inopportune times. I looked in on the Ireland forum again and it seems no one stays in touch much there, maybe due to connection problems, I'm not sure. Glad you got in touch with me and that you are doing better. Just got my 3rd fill right before our Thanksgiving holiday(not sure if you are famailiar with our holidays or not) which is about a month before Christmas. Had too much and had to get a slight unfill but think I am on the right track now. As I told you on my last post to you, I live in Kentucky, which in my opinion is the next best place to be than Ireland. I really think that Kentucky and Ireland look alot alike as far as all the green grasses and trees. Maybe that is why I did not get so homesick when I was there. I really did love it there. Hope you can write back soon and tell me about yourself and how you are doing with the lapband. Jenhay

Hi Jean , sorry I never answered but haven't logged on in ages, just very busy as had knee surgery in Nov and then with christmas etc! The pain eventually went on it's own although I did get it occasionally if I ate too much. It was quite severe but whatever it was it lasted form 3 weeks post op to 5 weeks post op. Looking at other posts it seems I;m not the only one although I did feel like it at the time. I'm learning to love my band though and have lost about 30lb since Sept..Still feel hungry at times but definately easier to fill me now!! Hope this helps albeit a bit late!!
